Dine in doors or outside on the Fulton St. mall.
"We came in a group of 8. I had the Duck Debris Po Boy. It was pulled, roasted duck. Mine was delicious. A few were less than impressed with theirs. Beef brisket was sent back for being overcooked and cold. Fried oyesters had very little meat, way too much batter. All in all a nice place on the edge of the quarter."

"We chose GI Restaurant because we were looking for seafood and the restaurant was within walking distance of our location. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good. The service even better. Limited but good selection of wine by the glass. Initially saw it as just a place to eat. Now, we'd definitely return."

"The food is very good. Charbroiled Oysters were good but I have had way better. The service was slow so as long as you have time to sit around and not be in a rush I would recommend eating at this restaurant."

"This restaurant is just fabulous. It is positioned right in the heart of the famous town of Warehouse District. The ambiance is lovely especially having dinner in the evening. It was a wonderful night. The waiters are all very smartly dressed and attentive with a very polite manner. The food was excellent. I have given this restaurant full marks in every category because it thoroughly deserves it."

"This is a classic family oriented seafood restaurant with good classic seafood dishes. The menu is straigh forward. We had the fried shrimp platter and the grilled tuna which were quite good. If you like baked oysters, they are very good and there are several different preparations."

"the staff was great and the food came out very quickly. the restaurant was nicely decorated and the prices were reasonable, but you can't overlook the food. we picked this resturant because it specifically listed seafood as a specialty - then the seafood platter should have been great, right? it was mediocre at best, 4 catfish "fingers" (des allemands catfish - tasted like chicken), 3 large mushy oysters - the kind that don't do well fried, and a crab cake, but loads of salty french fries. I got a salad, most of the lettuce was ok. we should have maybe gone to mannings?"

"The marinated crab claws at $12/1/4 lb. are an excellent choice. 12-14 large, succulent, and flavoful they were the highlight of the meal. The Isle Oyster Sampler was a good choice, too. A dozen baked oysters in 3 styles was more than enogh for 3 people. The one with the touch of jalapeno was my personal favorite. The server had an excellent knowledge of the menu. The service was a little slow. There was a large gap between appetizer and entre. That may have been due to the lateness of the hour (after 10 o'clock) and the kitchen being in close down mode. Over all a superior dining experience."

"Was in town at Harrah's for a few nights and decided to try Grand Isle fir dinner. My husband had the catfish and I had the beef brisket...both were great. The wine was also great with our dinners. The wait staff was very friendly and prompt. The only thing that put a damper on the meal was the fact that the doctors' conference was in town and the restaurant was extremely loud. Other than that, we had a very enjoyable dinner."

"The salad was wonderful with a great green goddess dressing. The shrimp gumbo fairly tasteless and bland. The oysters just alright. However the service, while friendly, was slow and sporadic. It was a two hour meal in the end and I'll never get those two hours or $45 back."

"Reservation request were not met. They knew we wanted to be seated at a table with chairs out of high traffic and did not even attempt to do what we asked. So we made do with what was given to us. Food selection, quantity, and flavor was not as good as when we last visited over a year ago. I don't think we will return there again."

"We met my family for lunch and had 2 children under 10 with us. The atmosphere was fun and family friendly. The kids enjoyed the childrens menu items, chicken strips and fish strips with fries. We loved the shrimp po-boy and also enjoyed the grilled shrimp po-boy was amazing. My family ate an oyster appetizer that they were thrilled with as well. The oudoor seating on Fulton is very nice. Prices were a little high for good New Orleans food but good."

"This was my second visit to Grand Isle. My first experience was a couple of years ago and wonderful but this time the food fell off quite a bit. I visited on Ash Wednesday so maybe the the cook had a Mardi Gras hangover but the dinner was just average. Being from New Orleans, I know I can get above average seafood anywhere, so my expectations are a little high when I go to what I consider a upscale restaurant. The raw oysters were the highlight of the dinner but the rest was just okay. I'm sure many visitors who don't have a local palate wouldn't know the difference, but I do."

"Oysters were delicious! Perfect size & impeccable flavor. Gumbo was okay.. Not crazy about thick, dark roux. Shrimp & grits .... Pretty good, but grits were lumpy."

"The noise was understandable due to the Super Bowl viewing. Our waitress was not friendly and slow to respond to our needs. We had to ask Lisa, who was servicing other tables for assistance. IF we had Lisa to start with my review would have been positive. I think the waitress did not care because each check included a 20% tip. So she did not have to work for something she knew she already had. We asked the manager to deduct half of the tip from the bill so we could give it to Lisa and he allowed that. They also cheat customers on the way they sold boiled seafood. They were selling a little over a pound of crawfish as two pound servings. We complained and the manager brought extra. The folks from out of town did not know any better"

"I must say that we have had much better experiences with the food and service at Grand Isle in the past. Not sure what happened, they should be geared up for Super Bowl and were not busy AT ALL... If our experience is the new norm, I don't think they will be busy ever...many superior dining choices in NOLA. This is not one of them. I won't be back."
