The Chicago Firehouse restaurant is in an attractive turn-of-the-century building that formerly housed the Chicago Fire Department and was completely remodeled in 1999. The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant retained its charm with original tin ceilings, fire-glazed walls and brass poles. Just as the setting pleases your eye, the American fare will tantalize your taste buds.

"We took out of town visitors who adored the venue. The food was wonderful. Swordfish was cooked well, a bit peppery. The steaks were superb. One of us ordered the filet mignon, while another ordered the filet flight. Both are great, though I personally favor the flight for its uniqueness. The blue cheese filet was a hit. Seafood pasta was delightful. It is a bit spicy, but rounds off well. We had chocolate moose cake for dessert. It was okay, the moose was a bit hardened/cold, though the cake itself was delicious."

"Chicago Firehouse has good food and a very nice ambience to spend an evening in.
For a steakhouse, they have really good salads and appetizers! The sea food platter is a must. The steak.. talk to the waiter and decide if you don't know your meat. Pork chops were decent, creme brulee was good.

"Much has been said about the sizzling, buttery steaks with the garlicky crusts and the shareable sides. Not nearly enough has been said about the jazz trio that plays in the bar on Thursday nights. They are terrific! Keyboard, bass, and vocalist combine to perform swing standards. Think Harry Connick Jr. or Michael Buble. The food is tasty, but the music makes this place truly special. Great for a date you want to impress with your suave sophistication."

"Reservation easy to make and sat on time. As all the tables in the restaurant filled it became noiser, also a young child there with a party and she did not want to be there. Wonderful service! We were a party of four and three loved their food, one had the special and said it was okay. Overall would go back."

"More relaxed and romantic than your standard formal steakhouse dining but with a warm inviting atmosphere to suit all occasions - we visited for date night on my first visit to Chicago and could not have been more ideal sitting in a corner leather wrapped booth sharing a bottle of wine while tables nearby were laughing and celebrating - rolls are awesome, menu had more options than most - classic surf and turf for us Delicious! Server was on best behavior but still let real personality come through and was sincere -- could very easily be the go to favorite for entertaining friends and family or romance for 2 --- if it wasn't in a different time zone :)"

"When my boyfriend and I first arrived for our reservation, we got sat at a table in a very high traffic area which made me a little uncomfortable. I asked the hostesses if we could be resat and they proptly took us to a booth in the main dining room. -Much better! Our server (Marcus) was awesome. He had perfect timing.. and knew how to joke back with us. My man enjoyed a NY strip and I got a ceasar salad and shrimp risotto (starter) as my entree. It was the perfect size and absolutely amazing. In fact, I'm craving some now just thinking about it..."

"The food was awesome. I had a double cut pork chop with wonderful flavor. My friends all has steaks and they were cooked perfectly. We had a group that was entertaining itself but the waiter was gone for very long periods of time. Might be the worst service I have ever had BUT we had a fantastic time and would return!"

"Was in town for the weekend with my wife. Did some research and chose this spot for a nice dinner. It was great from start to finish. The service was excellent, we had a nice guy named Michael. Food was excellent, i had the 8oz filet cooked to perfection. wife had a filet with crab meat. We sat down right on time with our reservation. We got there a bit early and enjoyed the outdoor patio, which was very nice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, and if I am back in Chicago, I would go here again. The check took a while to get, without even mentioning anything Michael came out and apologized and gave us a free dessert... Class act."

"We had planned this event for months and expected a unique and enjoyable experience. What we received was quite different. First the wine list. We ordered a 2008 Seven Hills. What we got was a 2011 instead. The waiter never pointed this out to us until we noticed it when he showed us the bottle. No accommodation was made for this difference. Second the steaks were over done, tough and gritty. We ordered medium rare and received med to med-well. We suspected it was due to sitting under a warming lamp for an extended time. The waiter was accomodating but unwilling to make adjustments in our bill. Chicago is known for its steak houses. I see no reason to risk another attempt at the Firehouse. It is just not worth it."

"Had a quick layover in Chicago to have lunch for Mother's Day. The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant's warm, friendly staff and inviting atmosphere was just what we needed to make the day special. The food from the special event menu was much better than the term "buffet" would indicate. There was a wide variety of entrees to choose from and everything was delicious."

"The 8 of us, including 4 mothers and grandmothers went to Mother's Day brunch buffet at the Chicago Firehouse. The food was great, we had an excellent table and our server was appropriately helpful. My only suggestion are that for $49 per person, the brunch should include a glass of Champaigne. Also, it would have been nice if the restaurant gave each of the mothers a flower. It would have been a nice touch at very little cost to the restaurant."

"We went for the Mother's Day Brunch. The initially sat us at a table that would've put us back-to-back with another family, but a manager quickly recognized this and moved us. After that, it was all good. The food was good, the staff was solid, and the building (an old firehouse) is great. Ask the manager for a tour, it was quick but worth it.

"Made a dinner reservation before we left Los Angeles for a trip into Chicaco. Were tempted to cancel the reservation due to a long travel day, but are glad we didn't! The food and service were outstanding. GREAT drinks, steaks and took the waiter's advice in ordering a rhubarb/strawberry crumble dessert. Delicious. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone."

"My wife and I were going to Chicago for our 15th Anniversary and after a lot of research as to where might be the best place to spend out romantic night out, we ended up choosing The Chicago Firehouse. As a chef, I do have pretty high standards as to where I like to go out to dinner. Our evening started out with some of the best service I have ever had in a restaurant (request Bradley if you go. You won't regret it). As if the incredible and extremely attentive service wasn't enough, the food was just as good. The Dry Aged Ribeye was cooked to perfection as well as my wife's filet flight and the soups were superb. The next trip that the wife and I make to Chicago from Detroit will definitely include a trip to the Firehouse again."

"The food and service were top notch!!! The waiter we had (David) was absolutely spectacular. He was attentive beyond believe. I have an adult son who has special needs and David picked up on it and without hesitation took care of having his steak cut to perfection. The food was excellent as well. Everything cooked to perfection. I didn't think I would have room for desert, but shared it with my son and was glad I did. It was key lime pie and by far the best I've ever tasted."

"Our third time here, first time for dinner. Our tab with two drinks each and no dessert/coffee was $150 without tip. Prices make it a special occasion restaurant for us and we had a gift card from our kids to use here. Food, service and ambiance was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant. Street parking is difficut to find, even at 5pm on a Saturday. Valet is $9. Parking lot down the street two blocks was $7."

"Everything was great. But, the porkchop was over prepared. We were in early and, like most, we're neighborhood folks. The server seemed standoffish and not able to liaise well with guests. Nothing was unprofessional or wrong, just a preference thing. I like the restaurant, it just seems quite cold."
