"The location of the place is perfect, with beautiful river view from almost every angle. And the waiters there are very professional and prompt. The food is good, but nothing spectacular. We ordered the lobster, it is fresh and well cooked. But the presentation is so so given its high price tag. It is nice to have somebody playing live music in the background. We do like the atmosphere and setting, but will not recommend food. And the waiter at the end seemed to be pumping us to leave."

"Our server Ransom was delightful he made the afternoon fun. His name was conversational along. Enjoyed his service
After hearing about the Quartet and the recent Steve Wonder event I wanted to visit. Our cocktails drinks were great. The soup was flavorless and minus subtains enough crawfish something! We ask that it be returned and the waiter didn't hesitate. Over all we enjoyed the service."

"The food was served only slightly warm. I ordered the fried Lobster, which I assumed would be pan fried served with drawn butter. It was deep fried and had so much batter on it that the Lobster got lost in it ($55.00). It was served on a small portion of mashed potatoes (cold) and a couple pieces of asparagus. Service was sparse. It was raining so we drive two blocks from our hotel and parked valet, when we tried to leave there were two men who appeared to be managers at the valet station. I handed them my ticket and they didn't take it and told me the valet was busy getting a vehicle. When I finally got my car and tipped the valet she asked if I had paid for the parking yet ($8.00) on top of $130.00 for dinner! Disappointed!"

"We celebrated Mother's Day at Quartet. First timers. The musicians were a great addition. We weren't rushed and the food was very good. Their portions were perfect but if you are a big eater, you may be dissapointed. I loved all of the natural sunlight filling the restaurant and the river view was a definate plus. We will definately be going back. In fact i sm heading there Wed to try their Happy Hour. Will report back"

"I surprised my wife with dinner at Quartet for our wedding anniversary (unfortunately they didn't read reservation and said nothing). Valet parking was nice and necessary (no street pkg); disappointed it was $8, but happy to pay it to complete the experience. We were greeted warmly and were accommodated when we showed up early. Overall the food was good, however it won't do for the Portland foodies and serious food scene quite yet. Blackened Ahi was outstanding; Ceviche was just "Good". We shared the Sautéed Shrimp with grits for our entree which was exceptional. They split for us and were generous with the grits and greens on both plates (thank you!) Both of our salads were just good. Banana's foster was undercooked, but still good."

"Lovely space with a dedicated Portland theme and one of the best restaurant views of the Willamette in the city. It's hard to imagine a better setting for an evening meal in the summer. The menu was diverse and extensive, with a nice wine list, and there was a talented pianist/vocalist. Great choice for a special occasion or to take out-of-town guests. A small table on the south end of the dining room might be the best seat in the house—if not the city."

"I would recomment Quarter for Happy Hour or drinks/apps only. Their outdoor seating looked fabulous although we were seated in the dining room. The noise level inside was not acceptable. When we first arrived we were able to have a nice conversation but once band/musical trio started to play that ended any and all conversation taking place. We could not even hear what each other was saying so we basically sat in silence for the remainder of our meal.
The appetizer and salad was excellent but the entree was seriously lacking. I would recommend Quarter for Happy Hour or drinks/apps only."

1. Two Sapphire Martini's were ordered. Two drinks arrived in oddly different sizes. One was large vodka Martini instead. 10-minutes for new drinks.

"Very elegant high end restaurant with attention to detail. Service was just right. No hovering and was able to sit back, relax, enjoy my guests and the ambiance. The table side services were carried out without bothering everyone around them. The music was soft and a nice addition to the experience. We were next to the window that I requested through open table and it was honored. The food was good. We all got something different and everyone cleaned their plate. The duck,gorgonzola ravioli,the pork medallions and salmon all were presented beautifully and tasted great. The only flaw I saw was the lava cake didn't ooze out. It was a little overcooked. It had a rich chocoholic flavor and the coffee was tasty and smooth."

"Very nice service, beautiful view. artistic presentation of main selections but their Q salad could use a little additional "something". It was pretty blah considering the price. Very expensive and we knew this going in so would not routinely go there except maybe would try happy hour. My Husband and I only had wine, our friends had several cocktails before and after dinner so it was a vey expensive tab and the waitress did not ask if we wanted separate tabs and it was too awkward to ask her to separate it. Our friends make a lot more money than we do, so the high price took a little of the enjoyment out of the evening for us"

"First time at Quartet. Food and Service were very good. A bit pricey, so not a "regular" hangout, but lovely for those occasions when one wants to splurge. Only issue: for some reason bar tabs have to be closed at the bar, cannot transfer to dining room tab. This is a very inconvenient and unusual for such an upscal restaurant."

"Service was awesome from valet parking to coat check, and everything in between. This is the kind of restaurant that re-folds your napkin every time you leave the table. Water was always replenished. The manager was friendly and checked on us several times. The food and drinks were exquisite, they carved the chateaubriand at our table. The dessert was worth the splurge, we shared the chocolate kahlua lava cake. The prices were high, but they do not have a cover charge for the live music, unlike the place we ate at last. This is a restaurant for special occasions. There were prom goers eating when we arrived for my birthday meal. The artist known as Prince again was supposed to eat there that night, but his plans changed to later."

"We had high hopes but were sadly disappointed. Crab hush puppies had not a whiff of crab, just some gooey plain-ness. Cajun ribeye was also pretty tasteless, nothing remotely suggesting Cajun flavorings. Service was good, river view fabulous but for the price (entrees approaching and exceeding $50) Portland has better options, thankfully."

"We tried it for Sunday brunch. I highly recommend the hicken and waffles. To die for! Their corn muffins and praline butter was a nice appetizer as well. Great place to watch the dragon boats practice."

"We were their for our anniversary. Spacious interior design and subtle colors let the view of the river be the focus. The staff was attentive and friendly. Beautiful food presentation, with a broad choice of entrees, focus on seafood. Live music added to the ambiance. A more extensive beer menu would be nice."

"Had a great meal and fun celebration of two birthdays. From the pre dinner martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, to the complimentary chocolate soufflé it was a wonderful dining experience. We all ordered different entrees which included steak, fried lobster, halibut and pork chops. Everything was cooked to perfection and extremely delicious. Was surprised to even been served a "palate cleanser" of grapefruit sorbet....who does that anymore??
The service was very attentive and personal. They seemed to take a personal interest in our experience and in the restaurant as a whole.

"The new resturant is beautiful with detail to elegance. The view amazing and the seating confortable. The wine list was over priced in my opinion compared to other resturants in the area of this quality but good choices for wine by the glass. The service was fair; our waitress started out good but got overwhelmed as the night progressed and she got busy. We were left sitting with no attention for about 15 minutes after our meal had ended and we were waiting to order desert. Overall we enjoyed our evening out and the food was delicious!"

"We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Quartet and had a wonderful evening. The service was attentive. The chef even visited us to check on our meal and made us a special anniversary dessert. The piano music and view of the Willamette River made for a romantic setting. Our only suggestion is to move the display boxes in front of the windows; they blocked some of our beautiful view."

"I had a group of seven people. Everything about the dinner was excellent. The happy hour before dinner was very slow. Frank Taylor stopped by our table to say hi. We explained the slowness of the bar and he said he would take care it. This is a great new spot. I will be back."

"This is a fantastic new restaurant with an excellent menu and delicious food, great drinks and wine list, lovely ambiance with a beautiful view of the Willamette River, outstanding service, and live music that is enjoyable and not too loud. I am so impressed and can hardly wait to go again! My friends that I was with loved it, too. "I love it when a restaurant underpromises and over-delivers! Everything was delicious, from the tuna appetizer to Frank's Fried Lobster (not to be missed!) Will be back to try the steaks. The Fried Lobster entree, while expensive at $55, it is definitely big enough to split (2 large lobster tails per entree. It was one of the best dishes I have had in a long time. The lobster was PERFECTLY cooked.
Quartet management really care about the diners, lots of special attention and truley appreciate feedback. My only concern is that this restaurant is a bit on the fancy side and I'm not sure Portland diners will support this high-end restaurant in this location. Is it too formal? Maybe, but we'll go back and tell our friends about this gem!"

"We were so excited to try this restaurant as we live nearby. We ordered a crab sushi for starters that we couldn't eat, the crab tasted so fishy. Kind of set the tone for the whole experience. I had scallops and didn't want to eat them all, they just weren't flavorful. Someone else had a steak that they'd ordered medium well and it was rare. The $45.00 steaks come with "jo jo's", seriously, a few slices of fried potatoes that were not special in the least. The mac and cheese was good. Not enough vegetable options for sides. I realize that they are a new restaurant but I don't really have any faith that they will get better. If the chef thinks that what they put out that night for us is good, then it will remain just mediocre."

"I am very happy to see this building be used again. It is the best place in town with a great view. However, please remove the cases next to the windows so you can see more of the river. That is what you really want to see. Service was just fine. Food wasn't the best in town, but was very good. At least the portion sizes are more realistic compared to Lucier."

"Most beautiful restaurant in Portland; diverse menu from steaks to Asian influenced appetizers and entrees. Food was excellent. But the server (lady) never explained the menu, took quite a while to take our first cocktail order and in general acted rushed and not involved in the menu aspects. She prepared a good Caesar salad tableside but only mediocre Bananas Foster tableside. Dessert could have been much better. She had no rapport whatsoever with the table.
Pianist singer add a nice touch but the singing got too loud at times. I think piano only would be better for background music.
I would certainly return as I think Quartet has great promise. Servers needs further training.

"Located at the corner of the Waterfront park, it is difficult to find another dining place with such a view. Come here close to sunset time and you'll be treated with a view and a meal, and live jazz. The dishes were delicious, but presentations for some of them needed some work. Wine list was quite mundane as well. However, I would still go to Quartet for a nice meal with a view anytime. Hopefully, it can only get better."

"We tripped over this restaurant on our first visit to Portland - my wife saw it while out on a walk, the stories about it opening looked interesting and it ended up fitting in with our next day's itinerary. I don't think we could have done better. The service was attentive and assured, the menu had variety and imagination, and the wine list was deep enough, with some unexpected choices and a pretty broad price range.
The food was gently prepared, good local ingredients and without too much presentation fuss. The view is great, even on a cloudy March day. It wasn't full, but if they keep on this track it'll be hard to get a table by the time we come back."

"Although we had a waiter that was new to Quartet: didnt know the wine we were looking for was on the wine list, hadnt tried the 2 entrees we wanted to order..he made it up with good service and a smile. We enjoyed the food ! The jazz group was exceptional. For an upscale restaurant , we were dissapointed in how casual some of the patrons dressed. Would certainly go back."

"The interior is beautiful with good views of the river. Our server, Jennifer, was very good. My husband had the Quartet which was fried lobster tail, crab cake and filet mignon. That was very good. "Quartet is still finding its way, foodwise. Or maybe I'm just not into Southern US/Hawaiian/Asian fusion cooking. Service was prompt, and efficient, but not over-bearing. The view and the decor are wonderful, only to be outdone by the piano music which accompanies dinner every night of the week. Happy hour menu looks intriguing, the bar is cool."
