"The best meal we have had in a long time and this us coming from very picky people. The only negatives were the noise level which I do not believe they can help. But, they can help with the annoying bus girl who spent the meal reaching across the table to refill water glasses - she needs training. Otherwise, the food was terrific and the waiter excellent. We will be back often."

"This was our second trip to Heirloom Tavern and it was an A+ all around: food was superb, the service excellent, the experience top-notch. The only foible is the small size of the space and the closeness of tables. Sometimes it can get noisy. This place has the best food on the North Shore of LI!"

"Read the NYT review and wanted to try it out for myself. Cute and small place, that's why you need a reservation in advance. Had clams casino which was excellent, tuna tataki which was very good and the sweet & sour short ribs, very tasty but a little fatty. My husband loved the short ribs. We also shared the Fettuccini Lobster Carbonara. Again very good, just make sure you like creamy. Had a minty tequila drink with ginger beer, don't recall the name but it was good and strong. Overall good experience and worth the value. Will be back to try other dishes."

Couple with that impeccable service from a wait staff who can not do enough......And you have yourself a new favorite!!!!! "We had an early (6:00P.M.) reservation and fortunately got a table in the back corner because shortly after as the restaurant filled with diners the noise level rose sharply. A fairly extensive menu made choices difficult, but this time we opted for a shared salad and main courses, which included two sides. My companion had the grilled pork chop which was quite substantial but I would not order it since the sauce had too much heat from the jalapeño. My duck breast was the best I have ever had. The roasted asparagus, brussel spouts and fingerling sides were wonderful. No room for dessert this time. Will try the smaller plates next to leave room for dessert."

"The best word I can use to describe my visit to Heirloom Tavern is average. Frankly, I am not sure what all the fuss is about. I know a handful of people who have dined at this establishment and been very happy with their experience. Unfortunately, my trip was not so favorable. My appetizer was burnt, my server was inattentive, the space was very tight to the point where you fee like you are eating on top of others and the restaurant was very noisy. I am not saying that I will never return but I will certainly not be in a rush to do so."

"Four of us dined there on Monday evening. We will thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate:lobster taco, beet salad, Caesar salad and smoked chicken quesadilla for appetizers. Short rib, pork chop,pasta and manicotti (Monday night special) were all delicious. Wait staff was helpful and attentive. Only negative was it was rather loud. I can't imagine the noise level on a crowded Friday or Saturday."

"Had a 9:00 p.m. reservation; got there at 9:10 and had a 10-15 wait. Given a table in a section that was extremely loud (the entire restaurant was loud to begin with-this was the worst area). When I saw another table come free in what I perceived as a better lovcation the hostess wouldn't move us. "If you know the Brass Rail, then you will have high expectations for their new venture Heirloom Tavern. Expectations surpassed! Every morsel more delicious than the last, every bite left us wanting for more. We loved the low key atmosphere. The feel comfortably similar to the Brass Rail, while being decidedly more casual. ( Kudos for not dumping absurd money into gut renovations before knowing if the restaurant will succeed!) Go for lunch, dinner or to sit at the bar, all three will yield pleasant experiences. The staff is top notch, taking an entrepreneurial approach to fulfilling customers' expectations. Be kind and tip well. They deserve it! Did I mention the food is amazing?"

"After reading the NY Times "excellent " review this morning , we "ran" over for brunch. Surprisingly the restaurant was empty- so very quiet- the food- I had a salad and chicken soup, my husband had the Tuna burger- was terrific. The coffee was great too."

"Although upon first sight of a trendy not to big restaurant with a menu that has something for every taste
the turn off is the noise. With only half the restaurant full the noise level was beyond annoying. Food was very good, so if you don't want to hear the person your with I would recommend it."

"This is a much needed and welcomed restaurant to the Glen Head area. The food was fantastic as was the wait staff. The noise level and close seating can be overwhelming if you prefer a quiet atmosphere but if your looking for a lively scene with good food, this is the place. We had the oyster rockefeller which we delicious, the seafood gumbo was okay. We're southerners and very few places can turn out a traditional seafood gumbo. We each had fish entrees and both were superb! We'll be back."

"Our group loved the appetizers. Had a couple of the salads, the veal meatballs, the clams casino. For entrees, we had the lamb shank, which was very good, but a couple had the duck which they did not care for at all. They both claimed that they did not care for the sauce on the duck. The service was on the ball, they were great, and the bar was hopping, so overall, a nice welcome addition to the neighborhood. We will definitely be back."

"This restaurant has a menu that is somewhat similar to The Brass Rail in Locust Valley. Food is very good and service was excellent. Tables are too close together so there is no privacy. Also the place is pretty noisy. Brass Rail also has tables close together but I found this place more instrusive. We would go back once in a while as food was of high quality."
