Garrido’s is a casual full-service restaurant that features a bar, and delicious specialty cocktails, a dining room, full wine list, and a covered outdoor patio that overlooks Shoal Creek.
We are proud to be locally owned and operated. Our restaurant is 100% green and our menu is 95% gluten free.
"Great food. Great atmosphere. Easy to make a reservation and outstanding service. Made a reservation to meet a group of friends before a show. We had a great time and set the perfect mood for our night out. Several unique diets within our group and everyone found something they throughly enjoyed."

"The menu has recently changed significantly - Garridos is now pricier ($25-35 instead of $12-$20 per plate) and has fewer options than it used to. There were no dinner salads on the menu. Service was very curt - we were addressed only in passing, and our table had heavy traffic around it. The bass we shared was not prepared well - both my girlfriend and I felt sick afterwards. This used to be one of our favorite spots, now I wouldn't recommend it except for maybe a happy hour on the patio. We talked to another group that had the same sentiment. For this price, there are much better restaurants in Austin."

"Christina, our waitress, was wonderful. She could tell something was amiss as my daughter looked at her taco with its strange seasonings. It was no problem to re-order, and we weren't charged for the taco. We may not have been excited about the food because we thought this was more of a Mexican restaurant, but it's certainly not traditional flavors. We had trouble picking out things that sounded good, and the results were hit and miss. However, the guacamole with crab meat and mango was delicious and highly recommended for sharing, since it's rich."

"David Garrido has brought his signature food to his own restaurant. The Tex-Mex French fusion simply works. Oyster appetizers are consistently IT!! We were happy introduce his food to our friends."

"Garrido's has been one of our favorite restaurants. However, it seems to have slipped somewhat in terms of service, food quality, and menu. The service seemed less attentive from the greeting throughout the service. The wait staff seemed to be stretched thin and we had to wait for drinks, appetizers, and meal service. We always order the coffee rubbed steak tacos and loved them. This time (and the last few times), it seemed like they were a bit soft and soggy and lacked the firmness in the meat and flavor from a year or more ago. They also stopped serving pork and shrimp boccaditos although we found out that we could order pork because we knew they used to sell them. All in all, it was good but we expect great when it comes to Garrido's."

"have eaten here successfully several times, but sunday was horrible. our reservation was at 1 and we were seated quickly. we did not get a drink order until 1:25 and only then because we motioned the manager. couldn't find anyone to take our food order until 1:40pm. mid lunch, our server, came over and said he was going to have lunch with HIS mother and trading us off to another server. she tried, but had several other tables. by 1:45pm, most of the restaurant was empty. finally got desserts about 2:15 and then couldn't find anyone to take our check. there were 6 of us and an 8 mo. old baby, who was ready to go as well. 2 hours was too much and so disappointing."

"Loved the location, a little hidden and near a bride with a great view. Migas and Bloody Marys were awesome. Prices were very reasonable. Wished we could have sat outside, but there will always be next time. Our waitress was super friendly. Great!"

"We use Open Table almost everytime we go out to a nice place. On this occassion we were seated at a very high traffic table. We requested outside seating and were told all the tables were reserved. There were at least ten open tables. The hostess refused to move us and was very rude in how she handled our request. We then waited 20 minutes before a server came to ask for our order. While we finished our meal the tables on the deck outside remained open with no one using them. While we may like the palce I am not sure if we will ever go back."

"I took my mom here for mother's day this year and although it was packed we had a very enjoyable time. The view was beautiful and the food was excellent. I felt the quality was higher than the price I paid which is hard to find now. Chef David Garrido was nice enough to walk around and great guests and tell the happy mother's day at the end of our meal which was a special treat. Overall, it was a good choice and we had a fun time."

"I thought the food and service were good. My only complaint is that too much time elapsed between the hors d' oeuvres and the main course. I would have given the ambiance 4 or 5 stars but grackles were in the outdoor dining area and too close for comfort. I ordered sea bass and it was outstanding."

"The food is always fantastic. Our server was not fantastic. She never told us her name. She rarely checked on us. Never checked ob us after our food was delivered. Someone in our party ordered lamb chops medium rare but they came out well done. The server never came back so this person ate the chops as is. I would recommend Garridos as this is the first time I have had an issue with service"

"We made our reservations on line. When we arrived our table was not ready and the outdoor seating was full (we specified to be outside). We only waited a few minutes while they prepared an indoor table. The food was very good. I highly recommend the cucumber kiwi martini with Tito's. Yum! Definite repeat for appetizers and drinks before a show at ACL Live."

"Went for Easter Sunday brunch, and surprisingly it was fairly empty. Couldn't believe that a downtown spot would be so quiet on such a busy day. Food was good, special menu that day. Wait staff was probably over-attentive due to the fact there was no one in the restaurant, which got a bit annoying. But at least we were able to ask for anything we needed, right when we needed it. Overall decent experience."

"Service was overly attentive. Too much attention to taking every glass, plate, utensil away individually as soon as one of us showed any indication of being finished. Felt rushed.."

"We wanted to try something different for Easter Brunch so I though Garrido's would be fun to try. It was a little difficult to find as it is at the very end of a dead end road. However it is really beautiful. We usually go to Manuel's on Congress and I thought this was a nice upgrade. Inside the restraunt is very clean with a very fresh contemporary look. The servers were great! The food good... but not great. I ordered a lamb chorizo omlette and my wife ordered the poached eggs over crab cakes. The discription that the server gave us of the two meals had us salivating. My omlette was dry but the chorizo was extremely tastey. My wife had one amazing poached egg and another that was over cooked.
All in all... we will be back"

"Above average reviews on Garrido's tempted us to try it out while in Austin. We went with the apps via tapas style and they were a different level. The oyster bocaditos and pork bocaditos were awesome. The brisket con queso was also a different level. The tortilla chips were homemade while the homemade tomatillo salsa was served warm. The patio dining offered a perfect setting. It helped the temp was around 75 degrees in the shade! Cocktails were unique and tasty. The watermelon-jalapeno margarita did well to deliver, while the guava martini was flavorful. Our server did well to offer his recommendations and he was spot on with all of them. Just a tremendous dining experience and will go back when in Austin again."

"It used to be a great restaurant, but they changed their food menu (my favorite dish is not longer in the menu), reduced the drink choices and the prices are now higher. Besides, the place is very run down. We sat outside and had to change chairs because they were broken. iIt was disappointing because I really liked Garrido's and was always bringing friends there, and even had work dinners there."

"I love Garrido's, and dine there regularly. Our server was new and eager, which was refreshing compared to some of the service that I've received in the past (which can be inconsistent). He paid us just the right amount of attention without being intrusive, which is a hard balance to achieve. Very polite and prompt. The food was wonderful, as always. Thank you, Garrido's!"

"Went on a Sunday night. Just a few customers. Oyster appetizer was excellent. Entrees lacked the pizzaz we expected. The pork taco was off, way off. Chips were old as if they had been prepared on Friday. Meal was served barely warm. Overall, not worth the price. I have had better street food. Sorry for the bad news."

"I thought the restaurant was well thought out. Nice ambiance and view. The menu is creative butWe were not told about any specials or any available drinks. Service was ok, we had never eaten there before so we had no idea what their goal was for each plate. I'd like to give it another try for dinner...maybe there's better service at night."

"This was our first time at Garrido's and we all enjoyed it. There were 5 of us. Everyone liked their food and the waiter was very accommodating and make great recommendations. Would definitely go back. One thing that was odd, was we made our reservations on Open Table and the only slot we could get was 6:15. We wanted a 7pm reservation. We were there for close to 3 hours and the whole time there were many open tables in the restaurant. Not sure why Open Table showed no available tables for us between 6:15 and 8:30."
