"if it's raining so you can successfully navigate the slippery wooden stairs! Mushroom ravioli very good, wish you'd bring back the Julia salad. House wines - meh. Tough night for the staff who appeared to be short-handed and without ice so any iced drink was not available. (Diet Coke, iced tea) Surely your fellow Hampden restaurants/establishments could spot you some ice for the night? I'll return if someone asks me to but not if there's a drop of rain in the forecast."

"After going to the grano pasta bar on the avenue for years we finally decided to try the big restaurant out. We had wonderful service. Our waiter was funny, well educated on the food, and on top of everything. Its unfortunate that the food doesn't live up to the service. Had the menu prices been more reasonable my review would have been more favorable. At about $25 an entree I expect something a bit more exciting for the palate. The food is good but not great. If this was a more casual dining experience with entrees at about half we'd probably come here regularly. Such potential for being a neighborhood gem. Maybe I am jaded with having Corner BYOB and the food market being so close? For the cost is suggest driving the 10 mins to lil Italy."

"I have never been to Grano for lunch and have since found out they only serve those with reservations.
The food was wonderful, the staff treated us like royalty and It was a delightful way to " catch up " with

"We have been in Italy a number of times, and recently upon returning we visited Grano Emporio and found it more like Venice than any other restaurant, and we have been to many! It is real Italian and not Italian-American with outstanding dishes such as you will find in Venice, Florence and Umbria!"

"We had friends in from out of town and wanted to show them a little flavor of Baltimore. It was perfect. Steve our waiter was entertaining and attentive. The food was amazing. One of our dinners did not get to the chef and was delayed. Obviously a disappointment but remedied quickly by no charge and a complimentary carafe of wine. The deserts were to die for. The lemon Tiramisu and poppy cake. Fabulous. We will definitely be back."

"Although the menu doesn't seem large, the specials round everything out. The appetizers/small plate selection was terrific. We ordered a carafe of chianti and one of chardonnay; they were actually very good, although I was skeptical of house wine. I'd do it again. "I recommended going to Grano based on raves of others who had dined there. Had dinner with 3 of my staff. I enjoyed everything. However, the others were interested in more traditional Italian and were disappointed at the limited menu, size of their portions + the overall cost of their meals. I would return to try other things on the menu but it would be with friends who were willing to try new things and not care about the cost. I would add that I expected to be more "wowed by the meal". It was not a "savor every bite" because it was so delicious."

"First, let me say that I LOVE this restaurant. The food, ambiance, and generally the service are perfect. So why were my last 2 visits a disaster? Two months ago, I visited and was seated upstairs where my party dined ALONE. Nobody else up there. So this time, I made a reservation specifically for the downstairs DR. When I arrived, they wanted to seat me upstairs again where there were several other diners, all at the tail end of their meals. They weren't expecting any other reservations, and I asked to be seated downstairs. At that point, the hostess basically just told me to "take it or leave it". So, we left. She could have suggested that we come back in 15 minutes, but she was pretty inflexible."

"Each food item is very fresh, of the highest quality, and prepared to perfection! Our waiter, Steve, was knowledgable, helpful and gave just the right amount of attention to our needs without being intrusive. This was extended in the service from Tyler who took care of our beverages and took a moment to ask if we were enjoying our meal, remarkable from a teen. From the moment we walked in the door, staff greeted us and made us welcome which continued as we walked to our table with greetings from each of the staff we passed by. I have lived in the community for nearly 4 decades and this is the single best all around dining experience I have ever had here. This was my 3rd meal at Grano's and each experience has been the same."

"Really enjoyed our meal at Grano last night - The mozzarella appetizer was fabulous as was my shrimp pasta. I'm not one who just adores tiramisu - but we tried it and it was one of the most amazing deserts I've ever had! Our server was quite busy, but still very kind and attentive - great experience! We'll definitely be going back."

"It was our first time at the restaurant. We were warmly greeted by the friendly hostess, who actually DID read the note on our Open Table reservation. (Birthday dinner.)
Our server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was served promptly and attractively, and was very good. The hostess even gave us complimentary Lemoncello as a birthday treat.
We will definitely be back, and recommend this restaurant to our friends. (I've already done that to a few!)
