Edgar's Grille - Augusta
Edgar’s Grille, a New American restaurant at the corner of Washington Road and Fury"s Ferry, features a wide selection of tapas, including Brick oven pizzas, as well as delicious entrees of steak, roasted chicken, fresh pastas, and low-country favorites such as smoky corn chowder and shrimp and grits.
Master Chef Marcel Biro and Chef de Cuisine Ian MacDonald, a dynamic culinary duo, are introducing fresh, local cuisine with a taste of the low country. Local food vendors will be featured, including organically grown produce from Nature Crisp Farms; fresh pork, beef, and poultry from Caw Caw Creek and Keegan Fillion Farms; and fresh dairy from Hickory Hill Farms.
Edgar’s Grille offers an unique bar featuring a Brick fired oven and warm, elegant dining. Outdoor dining is available in the heated courtyard. Edgar’s Grille is open Monday through Saturday evenings. Lunch service will be added in May 2013.

"My husband and I took my son and parents for his post college graduation dinner. We found all of the dinners delicious , except the sharpness of the tomato sauce on the vegetarian gnocchi. The salads were excellent. The deserts were a bit too complicated, not the upscale southern experience of the other foods. Maybe add another desert option everyone will recognize."

"I had a salad and the signature pork chop entree; my wife crab cake and salmon. The ingredients were good, but like so many Southern restaurants, the food tended to be on the sweet side--very sweet side (it's the Paula Deen syndrome). Example: everything in the salad was first rate, but the dressing was cloying to the taste (same with the pork chop's sauce; the pork itself was excellent). Service was good, and I like it that the staff has trained through a GoodWill sponsored school. Understand management is addressing the noise problem, which is fierce.
If you like food on the sweet side, this is the place for you."

"The food was very good with one exception. Having grown up in the area and with many, many hours of my youth spent in small and large gardens, I was always taught that the rib/spine of the collard should be removed prior to cooking because of it's strong, fibrous nature. My collards tasted great but I wasn't used to the toughness due to the rib still being attached. It didn't affect the taste though. Chipped glass and replacement had a very tiny amount of food stuck to it.
EXCELLENT restaurant but out of my price point except for very special occasions. Great Job Goodwill!"

"Enjoyed the evening very much! Will definitely be back to try other menu selections, although my meal was delicious and I wouldn't mind having the same thing again. I particularly enjoyed the salad (with apples, walnuts and cheese. I liked the atmosphere and even though we sat inside, the outdoor seating area looked very pleasant and there aren't enough restaurants with outdoor seating in Augusta."

"An all-around gem for Augusta! An experimental menu mixed with all-time favorites made our dining experience fun and one-of-a-kind! Outside seating provided a quieter and more intimate ambiance compared to inside's hip and busy scene.
We would definitely recommend the smoked muscles and shrimp and grits! To top off our special evening out, our server brought us a card hand-signed by the staff for our one-year wedding anniversary. A lovely and thoughtful touch!"

"The atmosphere was not conducive to table conversation. In our section, the center section with a long bench on one side, the tables were approximately 24 inches apart. This, in addition to the room noise, make conversation next to impossible. edgar's appears to be a hot spot but not necessarily one that we will visit again. Our food was mixed with equal parts blandness and rawness. On the plus side, the staff was attentive, friendly and professional."

"Enjoyed my first visit, though there were a few minor issues. After arriving, my wife and I waited more than 5 minutes for our waitress. She was busy and only somewhat attentive through the evening. Enjoyed the bread and two spreads. I ordered the pork chop and sweet potatoes. The pork chop was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. The sweet potatoes tasted great, but some of them were too crunchy. The noise level was a little high; I had to speak up quite a bit to speak to my wife. Overall, it was a good experience."

"great to be greeted by name at the door. makes the diner feel welcome and important to the restaurant. staff was very cordial and gracious. nice wine list. dinner options were diverse and interesting. our dinners were plated beautifully. it was my third time at edgar's and each evening has been a very positive encounter. i like the decor (looks like atlanta),the staff, and the whole experience...so much so that i have introduced five people to edgars and plan to bring more. looking forward to another edgars experience soon. bunny simon williams"

"Our table was ready when we arrived, we did have a reservation. We waited 20 minutes before asking someone passing if we could order drinks. The service was very slow, the food good but the noise level was unacceptable. I guess there is one good thing about old fashion carpet....it absorbs noise. I doubt we will return."

"I have never had such bad service in my life! Our waitress had at least 7 tables. She never checked on us for refills etc. I had to wave my arms in the air to get her attention. The 2 person tables are so close together you feel like you are eating with complete strangers. Forget a romantic dinner. The noise level is so loud you have to raise your voice to be heard. This restaurant is expensive. The food was very good but the rest out ways the 145.00 price tag!!! Save your money or just lower your expectations!! This is the only review I have ever given. I feel it was my duty so management could pay close attention to their customers. In Augusta the new will wear off!!"

"This is a place that misses the mark if you are used to restaurants in metropolitan areas which the prices here reflect. We had fabulous experiences with restaurants in Augusta and our visit at Edgar's was by far the bottom of the list. The service was very friendly but untrained. It took 25 minutes to get a Cosmopolitan from the bar - not a crowded restaurant, two bar tenders, bar service expediter and it took 25 minutes - frankly unacceptable. The kitchen was well timed but the pizza, which is cooked on the other side of the building from the kitchen, obviously sat for some time waiting for the kitchen food to come out. The best I could give this place is fair and the prices are way out of whack. It has a long way to go to go."

They had live music which was good, but made conversation with our guests close to impossible. If this had been our first visit, we might not have returned. But, we will try again. They need some more moderately priced wines."

"I ate here the weekend of The Masters golf tournament. The menu looked really good online, but they were beset more with service-related issues. Firstly, I felt that the number of times that I was contacted both by phone and e-mail to confirm my reservation was excessive, even though this is a very busy week, and I had already put a non-refundable deposit down in advance. Secondly, when my party arrived, we noticed that they had jacked up their pricing relative to their advance online menu. Thirdly, there seemed to be too many people working there with people stepping all over each other with multiple people trying to take food and drink orders and asking how the service and food were at the moment."

"This was our first trip to Edgar's Grill and we were quite impressed. The place is absolutely beautiful and the food was better than delicious. What Goodwill is doing for the community with their school is amazing. I would recommend you try anything with the Trotter duck (the prosciutto tapas plate was fantastic). The butter greens salad with walnuts, cheese, and a little lemon vinaigrette is something I wish I could have for lunch every day. We had the pork chop and cornmeal-battered fish (flounder, I think?) and they were both amazing. I even had dessert, the panna cotta, which was just wonderful with the apricots. We will most definitely be back!"

"We had a very good dinner, but felt the menu was a little limited. The special that evening was reasonable and very good, but $ 40.00 for a 6 oz filet seemed a bit pricey. Waitress, Stephanie did a great job. Attentive and got all our questions answered. If in town, we would return. Not a business dinner place, too $$$, but would be great for a special dinner."

"Beautifully appointed restaurant but the staff was atrocious. From the hostess not notifying us our table was ready to the bartenders not knowing what a Moscow Mule or Gimlet were, the staff was awful. We waited literally 10 minutes at our table before even meeting our server. Drinks took so long we felt compelled to order appetizers, salad, and main entrees all at the same time. The food was good, but the entire staff needs to be properly trained."

"The food is quite good, but the space is large and loud with some tables too close together. Also, the servers are nice and mostly attentive, but lacking in training, particularly on wine service. It also does not set a good example to see management standing around on their cell phones when they should be on the floor making sure patrons are being taken care of."
