"This was such a disappointing experience. I don't know how the NYTimes gave this restaurant such a good review only a few months ago. Very slow service. Mediocre to poor food. No ambiance. I would never go back."

"I was recommended to this restaurant by two people. We were four and none of us thought our meals were very good. Each had a different main course and were very disappointed."

"We had an 8:00PM reservation. We arrived on time and were not seated until 9:40PM. I had heard that the lamb shank was very good, but they had none left when I ordered it. The noise level was very bad. They need some help with acousitcs. The food was disappointing. We ordered a caesar salad for two to start and the waitress brought one plate. When I asked that it be separated into two plates, she brought me a fork and small plate so I could do it myself."

"Great food- the carrot trio was a special treat, the grilled shrimp was wonderful! And the apple tart was sublime! The service was a little confused - I can't blame them since it was a busy Saturday night, I'm sure they'll get better"

"Good food and very low prices. No entree is over $20.00! We had an enormous, very flavorful lambshank and duck breast and comfit. The comfited leg could have neen crisped but the breast was cooked as requested. The smoked trout cakes were smoky and had a wonderful tangy sauce. The pear salad was enormous."

"OM is outstanding. Meat falls off the bone and the desserts are all freshly made in house. Chef is gifted. I wanted to try more, but I was so stuffed. Will have to go back. I want to try those kebabs and that stuffed chicken looked awesome too."

"The others in our party of four were more impressed than I. Some of the dishes were very good, others a little strange. The brisket was tasty but cut with the grain and therefore, stringy and hard to chew. I thought the chopped salad was way too salty. The soup, the lamb shank and the cod, drew raves. Totally enjoyed the chef's musical interludes."

"Food was very good. The service was friendly, but bordering on incompetent. The fornt of the restaurant did not seem to know what they were doing, they were literally walking around with plates of food going from table to table asking who ordered the dishes. As I say they were friendly and pleasant but badly in need of a professional manager. The food, on the other hand, was very good. Our party had the lamb shank, cod, shrimp and scallops. Everyone thought that the food was delicious. Ambiance could use some work as the space seems empty. Overall - food very good, but until they hire a professional manager not a place to which I would return."

"My dinner was delicious! (The scallops) and our dessert (apple tart) was a nice ending to our meal. The service was lacking-our waitress was new and they seemed o be short of help."

"Awesome food. The best lamb shank I ever had. Unfortunately this was offset by our waitress who seemed to be from the local luncheonette/diner and better fit for that type of establishment. She didn't have a clue to the makeup/ingredients of the items on the menu and even had to read the menu to answer a question. She couldn't tell us the names of the wines by the glass and had to refer to the menu to answer other questions.
If they update the service to a more professional staff and make the atmosphere warmer then it's a winner."

"Big disappointment. Service was terrible. Food just okay. Maybe we expected more. Great Neck is dying for some new, upscale place and this just doesn't cut it."

"Great place. This was our second time in 2 weeks. Most notable was that it was the weekend right after a very favorable write-up in the NY Times. They did a terrific job under pressure and were able to honor our OpenTable reservation within minutes of arriving (which we made only 30 minutes before arriving). Try the lamb shank, gnocchi and lamb sliders. They are delicious."

"Service was atrocious. Our waiter was not attentive to our table. We were a party of 3 and we were there for almost 3 hours. Waited to long between courses. One dinner was served cold and had to be reheated, so it was very dry and barely edible. We ordered desert which arrived after we finished our coffee. When desert did arrive, they failed to bring all desserts we ordered. The most efficient person on staff was the guy who refilled our water glasses. We will not return and I would not recommend the restaurant to anybody."

"The food was not that good. The brisket was fatty. The waiters must of come from a diner as the made errors and felt a need to scream to people at the next table while talking to our table.
This new place needs a lot of work to survive."

"Ffound out this restaurant is only 7 weeks old and people need to find out about it. I went with 3 other people and all our food was outstanding. - from the bread to the salads, soups, entrees and dessert! Portions were a good size - I have leftovers to look forward to. Service was attentive and not rushed. Chef Desmond came out to sing in his tenor voice happy birthday to a patron! Will definitely return and hope word gets out about OM Bistro."

"We went for an early mid-week dinner after a movie and were delighted with the unusual menu and superb service. The meal started with a tasty amuse bouche of chicken "pizza" on a flaky crust. Warm crusty bread came with two dips -- one puréed cauliflower and the other a flavorful hummus. We started with salads, although all the appetizers sounded great. My friend's cauliflower salad and my pear and blue cheese over frisée were sizeable, crunchy and delicious. My friend had pesto pasta and I had lamb brochettes, which was served with delicious vegetables and a mountain of basmati rice. The house Cabernet and merlot were very smooth and served in a good-sized glass. To top it off, the prices are very modest. We can't wait to go back."

"We went as a group of 6. The place was not very busy, which was fine with us. How it could have taken 3 hours to eat this meal is beyond our comprehension. The food was mixed - very good appetizers and salad, overcooked duck, fatty short ribs, good chicken ravioli, good enough (but overpriced) dessert.
We will probalby go back because it's convenient. And it has great potential. But they need to get their act together. Although we were happy to talk to our friends, the slow service was incomprehensible."

"This new place has a lot of potential. The menu is heavy on the meats, but the specials were vegen, which we thought was smart. The duck was tasty, although could have been cooked a bit longer to get rid of some of the fat. The lamb shank was well prepared. Wine list was fine. All the prices were reasonable. The chocolate dessert was very good and enormous - our table of 4 ate one and there was more than enough. This spot has had huge turnover, and it's very convenient. We hope it catches on - a nice addition to this part of the world."
