Borough was created to represent the chefs point of view of simplicity. Our restaurant will be a casual eatery which is set to highlight an ever changing menu that focuses on simple materials which mainly consist of locally sourced & seasonal ingredients. This ever changing menu allows our chefs to stay creative with the changing of the seasons and the food that is offered by foragers during them.

"What looked like a menu lacking in quantity (choices) more than made up for in quality. Every dish prepared and served with a chef's special touch. The presentation was glorious and our favorite part was with every dish there was an accompanying sauce of some sort to enhance the flavor of your dish. We had four different starters and three different main entree dishes. All were delicious. We also had a small dessert (very small portion so it was perfect if you were borderline full).
My only concern with this place is the noise level. Once the restaurant filled up, we had a very hard time hearing the server when they brought a plate and described it to us."

"Loved it! Our server new exactly how to order for a table of 5. And was spot on. The oysters had a smoked lemon ice that was to die for, and our foie gras was insane ! The pairings of the extras on all their plates added so much flavors to the main food , just done right! Yum! Ended up being quite pricy , however we didn't hold back on anything! Worth it. I can't wait to eat in the bar downstairs , we went down for an after dinner drink and loved it!"

"The starter plates we ordered were awesome - we had the cauliflower and the octopus.
My husband liked his strip. I ordered the halibut, and I enjoyed the broth's richness, but it was very salty."

"The service was good at first then we seemed to get ignored. We had to ask for our server a couple if times. Also, they open end the shades too early and it was too bright. A few people indicated that they didn't want them open but they did it anyway.
The food was very good. The description of the food was very good."

"If you are a foodie and don't mind ear deafening noise, this is the place for you. The vibe is great, but difficult to carry on a conversation, even with the person sitting across the tabel from you. The menu is very limiting. Difficult for vegetarians. The wine list is varied, but again, limited, only one pinot noir on the list. Plates are all photo worthy, food is very tasty without being too complicated. The Chicken was fantastic as was the Halibut. Desserts very limited as well (only 3, excluding the cheese plate)
Service was pleasent, not great. Food was brought out at a timely manner. Borough is worth trying, not sure that I would return so quickly."

"Finally got a chance to try Borough after the spring thaw and it exceeded expectations. The food was excellent, everything was very thoughtful and full of flavor, without being frivolous, overcomplicated or pretentious. The chicken main dish was a standout - yes, chicken. It was moist, tasty and had a perfect, crispy, seasoned skin."

"Borough changed the menu again recently to add in Spring vegetables and a Summer vibe to the offering. Excellence! The favorites such as the strip steak and octopus (both are MUST try) are still there and new additions including halibut with shrimp sauce are nothing short of amazing. Also: Claire is a pro! The entire staff is outstanding, but Claire recently served a table with 6 of my business colleagues from out of town. She delivered world class service to these travel-weary associates. Great timing, great descriptions of the meals, and excellent upbeat attitude throughout."

"I read that it's loud and you sit too close to those next to you, but I went on a Sunday night and it was maybe half-full, so it was easy to have a conversation and there was no one seated next to us. The service was impeccable. We had the octopus appetizer and a pork-belly appetizer. The octopus was outstanding, but the pork-belly was just OK. I had the skate, which was excellent. My friend and I split the tempura oreo dessert and a rhubarb dessert. Both were amazing and I would get the rhubarb dessert every time it's on the menu. We then went down to Parlour and the service, atmosphere and drinks were also excellent. The whole experience is similar to the Bachelor Farmer, which I also highly recommend."

"We went to Borough and while we were being seated in the lovely dining area, we changed our minds and decided to sit at the bar that faced the chefs working in the kitchen. It was quieter, more intimate, and more fun to sit there, (though we often like sitting at the chef bar in anu restaurant). Our server knew an amazing amount about the wines and the menu. Everything we had was incredible, from the chicken to the steak, and the mozzarella appetizer which was new that night. We topped off with tempura oreos for dessert! There are so many new and great restaurants in Mpls, so it takes a lot to really stand out. Borough is our new favorite."

"We waited 30 minutes before seeing a server. When he arrived he said he didn't want to bother us since we seemed to be having a romantic moment. The $11 salad was not only mediocre but minuscule. The wine recommendation was inaccurate and incomplete. The entire experience was so poor that we ended up leaving. We then went to 112 eatery and had great service and a great meal."

"Wonderful food. My fiance and I go out to eat frequently and have a great appreciation for good food. The starters we ordered were the foi gras and the octopus--both are highly recommended! Our dinners were equally as delicious--the halibut and the strip. We didn't order any wine or drinks during dinner as we had a couple drinks in Parlour, on their basement level, before our reservations. We'll definitely be trying some wine next time. Our experience her exceeded our expectations. We are definitely planning on coming back!"

"The food was all very good - octopus appetizer, cauliflower appetizer, halibut entree, steak entree, carrot cake dessert. I found the atmosphere to be a bit sterile, and given our proximity to the next table and the acoustics, we could hear their conversation. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable, but he did not have the time he should have to spend with us, given the price level of the menu. I did enjoy the meal, but given the comments on the service and atmosphere, I do not think I will go to this restaurant again."

"Borough is a very cool, hip and energetic place starting with the bar right when you walk in. The bartender is very knowledgeable and engaging and very talented. The bar menu is great and his off the menu drinks are awesome as well. He made me a fantastic citrus jin fizz. The menu at Borough is small making ordering a little easier. We went with a large group and had most of the items on the menu."

"The food at this new hot spot was outstanding. We had a few small plates - the soup, the Octopus, Yellowtail, and finished it off with the Donuts. The highlights were the Octopus - brined, slow roasted and then grilled and absolutely outstanding - and the Donuts which were sweet and salty and hot. The bacon covered chocolate was a wonderful bonus. There were no low points. the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. A definite one to visit again."

"We ate Monday which was quiet given the snow storm. The waiter was slow to arrive after all three of us were there to take drink orders. He then proceeded to get two of the three entrees wrong- so we got the wrong food and we had to send one entree back a second time as it was still wrong.
Waiter was unapologetic and offered the weakest of apologies and did nothing on the bill. No member of management ever came by to offer an apology or see if everything was to our liking given what we experienced The waiter while not unpleasant had an attitude.
The food was quite good but portions are on the small side."

"We are foodie junkies for sure and had been looking forward to trying this effort by two former Travail chefs. It was the perfect mixture of complex and complimentary ingredients and flavors, with dinner size portions while still holding on to the that tasting menu fun flair. We had the cauliflower and beef tongue appetizers, the chicken and skate for entrees, and carrot cake and doughnuts for desserts and it was all EXCELLENT. The service was also literally perfect, great demeanor, excellent food knowledge and descriptions and perfectly timed courses. Claire was her name, she was great. The restaurant itself was beautiful and MUCH larger than we were expecting. As two chefs, one current and one retired, we can't wait to go back."

"10 people, one person received their meal the other 9 people was served 25 minutes later. They offered champagne as comp but nothing for 1st person. Poor choices by staff/manager. We did not demand but wanted to see what the establishment offered, they failed.

"We were asked to leave due to incoming reservations. Understanding that the table was required, if management had offered to relocate my party to the bar, offered to reaccomodate us with a drink, etc. - would have been a different impression. But having the waiter deliver the message that we needed to move on was improper and rude. The waiter was put in a bad light - and it impacted his gratuity. Management should have delivered the message and in a better way as to show hospitality rather than - "you've been here long enough, now get out".
I will not go back, and will tell everyone I know about the unfortunate end to my parties dinner."

"My husband and I were so excited to try Borough given the great reviews. I have to say while the food was good, it wasn't great. It certainly didn't live up to the hype. The waitress was very careful with the foods she recommended v. those she didn't discuss. Pay attention to that - I strayed away from the "favorites" for the first course and was very disappointed with my selection. For the main course we had steak which was good and tender - but over salted with the side dish flavors overwhelming each other and just ended up being a bit of a mess v. complimenary. The highlight of the entire night was the donut platter for dessert. Sheer heaven - we ordered a second one. Will we be back - no. Go to 112 Eatery instead."

"The delicately fried cauliflower with an oyster and pickled peppers nestled in was terrific. If fois gras is your thing, this is a fine place to enjoy it with huckleberry and small brioche. The champagne potato soup, veal and strip were also worth note. Service teams were very attentive overall, but our first plate was delivered before our bottle of wine was even opened. This is a horrible service gaff and lousy way to start dinner. The first plate was cold by the time the wine was poured. It was also very noisy. We'll give it another try."

"I think this restaurant got overhyped in the recent StarTribune review. Food was good, but not great. Nothing terribly imaginative on the menu that jumped out as something I was excited to try. Service was as expected. Somewhat slow initially. Our server was friendly and personable, but her timing was poor. Failed to immediately greet us upon arriving, and took so long to get to our table that she took our drink order at the same time she took our food order. Others who brought the food out seemed to have an attitude as they ran through what they were serving. They seemed to want to hurry through their script regarding what was bein served without any interaction from us. The restaurant is quite loud, which makes conversation difficult."

"We took my sister-in-law there Sunday, April 7 - They had valet which was great fo my husband - they opened in January and the restaurant was quite trendy and cool looking - loved it. The food was excellent as was the service. Would definitely recommend to others."

"Overall good experience, I have to say that we had a couple of minute wait before our table was ready, so we went into the bar area in the restaurant. The bartenders completely ignored us and we ended up just going back to the check in area to wait for the table.
