eat here - Siesta Key
The Eat Here restaurants in Sarasota and Anna Maria Island were recently selected as two of Florida"s "Best New Restaurants" as part of Florida Trend's Golden Spoon Awards. The award was particularly gratifying for the team at Eat Here's parent restaurant, the Beach Bistro, which has long been enthroned in Florida Trend's "Golden Spoon Hall of Fame" and ZAGAT's "Top Restaurants in America.
Eat Here was previously selected “Best New Restaurant” by newspapers on Anna Maria Island and in Sarasota. The third Eat Here has now opened on Siesta Key to similar rave reviews.
Eat Here celebrates chef-crafted, Gulf-Coast cookery featuring presentations of local farm products, fresh, locally-caught seafood and inspired pizza and tacos. The Eat Here bars serve traditional and creative cocktails, craft beers, and wines from pimarily family-owned vineyards.
Eat Here’s chef staff is trained in the Beach Bistro's school of commitment to culinary excellence.

"This is a local place (several locations in the Sarasota area) using fresh ingredients tastefully combined. If you want the same old tired American pub food menu this place is not for you. But if you want something a little different, and plenty good, give Eat Here a try.
We've tried 6 or 7 dishes and all were at least very good, with several being excellent. I particularly liked the clam dish, while my wife enjoyed the lobster tacos. Look at the menu and you can see what they're doing, and from my experience they're doi ng it very well.

"This was our second visit and Eat Here did not disappoint. We had the Titanic salad (a play on the classic wedge - but even better with blueberrie) and my husband had the meatloaf and I enjoyed the fois gras with garlic toast points. We sat at the bar - our favorite place and had a delightful meal and impeccable service."

The waiter too a long time to ever come around for a drink order, Sat. Evening
All the food was brought at one time. Soup, dinner were not staggered, so not enough room on the table.
The noise level was terrible. I had to almost scream to my husband to carry on a conversation.
Very few outside tables. I would have taken one had we known how loud the interior was."

"Our first time at Eat Here on Siesta Key was a great experience. It was a Monday evening at 8pm, so the place was quiet. The food was really good as our table had duck, ribs, salmon prepared two ways. We loved it and will return. Living on Siesta Key ourselves we like doing business with our local establishments. We appreciate that Eat Here takes reservations."

"Highly recommend. Party of four adults had dinner here on a friday night at 6 p.m. We were seated promptly. Started out with the tempura beets -- everyone loved them (even those who didn't eat beets usually). 2 Pot Roasts, 1 mahi mahi (catch of the day) and 1 seared gulf shrimp. Everyone loved their entrees. Key lime cheesecake and root beer float were the perfect closers too. Service was good, despite the waiter having multiple tables to serve during the busy dinner rush. Manager visited table. Valet parking was free! Will return and also will try the downtown location."

"GO! Do not hesitant! The 4 of us had a fabulous dinner experience with 2 in our party not fond of dining out, but they LOVED the decor and FOOD! The 2 men had the pot roast and RAVED (seemed most tables around us had 1 or 2 people having it too ), one had the Mahi-Mahi, a fish of the day and LOVED not only the fish, but the sides too and this from a person who is very particular about food, and one had the shrimp, was disappointed it was served on a bed of mashed potatoes. Our appetizers were lobster tacos, shrimpescargot, and tempura beets.....we would HIGHLY recommend to all. Our server/waiter, Antwuan was excellent with a wonderful personality. There is a chalk table for children to entertain themselves while others dine. Enjoy!"

"Food was very good, portions were on the small size. Wait staff were all very well trained and very friendly, no complaints there. The only issue was the seating very tight accomodations. When my wife said something as we were leaving the manager assured her that a return visit would be much more enjoyable. He said he noticed that it was going to be hectic when he seated us there. I did not realize at the time we were seated that we were going to become part of the only access for staff and patrons to the balance of the restaurant. By the time we did, we had ordered and did not want to relocate. It was our first visit, we will know better next time."

"Food is poor. serendipitous salad was a joke-mostly greens with a scrap of cheese, exactly 2 blueberries, 2 pieces red pepper, 1 sad piece of beet and 1 soggy tomato slice. "Very good food but not at all fond of the way things are served. They encourage sharing, which can be ok, but there is no pacing of what has been ordered. In similar places, appetizers and especially entrees were brought out in groups of two or three. The three of us ordered six different things and everything arrived at once. It made for a crowded table and an unpleasant way to share. We mistakenly ordered wine just as the food arrived, not thinking it would come all at once, and it was served when most of the meal was done. I wouldn't call the noise level "energic" but rather very loud. Food was very good but that wasn't enough to make up for the other short comings."

"Amazing food! The meatloaf was superb as we're the duck pâté, and even the most simple salad. Don't love the decor and the sound level borders on noisy. But I would definitely go back based on the food."

"We have eaten at the downtown location previously on several occasions and found it to be wonderful . After a high recommendation to our friends, we went to the new location and were disappointed. The guys ordered the surf and turf which was a filet and a crab cake. The steak was overcooked and tough and the crab cake looked and tasted like it was made from canned crabmeat. At $29.00, more was expected. Now I am suspect to recommend even the downtown location. We will not be back to the Siesta Key location. I must say that the appetizers were much better than the entrees."

"Great spot-------geat & different food offerings. Servers are good and know the menu! Very loud:(. Not good for groups of 5 more more-----tables are small and tight. Tables of 4 are perfect. Make a reservation and use valet parking. Don't take the kids."

"We called to change reserv 1/2 hr later and we were accommadated without problem.
The food was good other than (veal meatloaf)was very dry would not get it again.
The bottle of Merlot we ordered didn't taste right to all 4 of us who are regular wine consumers. The waiter got the mgm and he happily replaced with a different bottle of our choice.
Noise level higher than we would prefer and would deture us from going back on a busy night.
Our waiter was pleasent but didn't seem to be with the program,this could be since they have just opened up.
Willing to give another try since we have heard nothing but raves of the other locations.Hope for improvement since we can walk there"

"Food was excellent. Because our reservation was not honored, the restaurant management bent over backwards to make up for the lapse.
Our server was excellent and accommodating. It was an extremely busy night, and several dishes were unavailable. There were also clearly kinks in the system--but the Siesta Key restaurant is only a month old, and still has some rough edges in moving some of the dishes out of the kitchen in a timely way.

"First time at this Eat Here location. The menu is exactly the same as the downtown place, which means it's intriguing and a little funny, but i was disappointed that there weren't some different items here. The food is excellent.
The ambience is polished and comfortable, more of a standard-shaped space than the one downtown. Lots of staff roaming about, attentive and competent."

"Awfully disappointing experience. This new restaurant was full of patrons, the vast majority were at the older end of the spectrum, like us. However, the music was loud and young, obviously selected to please the staff rather than the customers. The restaurant is so noisy that it is impossible to enjoy conversation or your meal. Food and menu is imaginative and delicious but the ambiance is awful. Unlikely to try it again, even though we live on the Island and eat out regularly."
