"Atmosphere was wonderful! I read previous reviews saying that the music was too loud, but that was not the case for me. The band was great! I really enjoyed the music, and the food was to die for! You could tell the Chef's did their very best in preparing each and every single plate. The food for Mother's Day brunch was on the expensive side, but that is the norm for a Holiday. Also, the only thing that really disappointed me was the limited menu for the brunch, but again this is normal for Mother's Day. I will definitely be returning to try a dish or two, or three from their standard menu!"

"Waiter did not ask how to cook meat for wife and son...charged wrong for sparkling wine by glass...had to ask some other person for coffee...no one at door when you walk in to tell you about your reservation...not really impressed overall ... Would not go back..."

"Really liked the menu selections. Many small plate items then full sized entrees. I had the fried chicken and it was great! I would go back just for that. I had a Zinfandel by the glass and it was very good. I am definately going back."

"Thursday nights has great "Thirsty Thursdays," with $5 wine/sangria specials and tapas to die for. I read many reviews that said service was excellent, however, ours was not. We had to ask the host after 15 minutes to send someone over to the table, had to ask for our drinks a few times, and bread took 40 minutes! No kids menu (negative, even though our 7-year old likes adventure in food). Mama Kim is awesome and so are her recipes. We'll go back for sure, but sure hope we have a different service experience."

"The four of us had an excellent dining experience with great food and service. We ordered the fried chicken and ribs and were not disappointed. The quantities was so large that none of us could finish our plates so we doggy boxed them home for another day. The servers were attentive and quick despite the large crowd for this evening. I can't wait to return, possibly for a Father's Day brunch or even sooner!"

"My husband, being thee state worker that he is, has eaten many times downtown at Mama Kim's truck. He would come home and rave about it. We finally got a chance to go to their new brick and mortar. It was SO sensational. The food was 5 star, the service was superb, and when the band started playing...with Phillip at the microphone..WELL, the evening started rockin" I am taking my sister from Seattle there this Friday...there are alot of restaurants in Folsom to entertain but NONE like Mama Kim Eats!"

"The idea of Mama Kim's is wonderful. Staff is friendly....music (not every night) was excellent. The food was good but not way up at the top of my list (I had fried chicken, which was moist and flavorful, cheddar mash was bland, greens ok/salmon and potato salad was just the standard salmon.)
Although there was nothing special about flavors, I liked what I ate.
I will come back - Mama Kim's has a good vibe!"

"On a Friday night , it was not too busy early, around 6pm, when we had to go. The sangria was great. The wines are out of the main stream but very good and reasonably priced. We had lamb sliders to start - they are tender, juicy and tasty. My wife had braised short rib , very good with rich complex flavor. I had swordfish that was simply prepared but flavorful and enjoyable. Service was very friendly and helpful. A 3 piece band was playing - also very good. The singer brought a couple of wines to try - gratis. Great atmosphere all round."

"The food at this restaurant is excellent, with an interesting menu featuring some southern influenced dishes. However the music was so loud that it pretty much ruined the whole experience. I would have liked the music if we could have really heard it but it was os loud that it just became unpleasant noise. ONe of our party wears hearing aides and he was miserable and didn't even like the food. The remaining 3 of us did like the food very much and would go back if the noise problem could be solved. Unfortunately we did not sit on the patio and I imagine that it would be quieter on the patio. The restaurant was not very busy when we were there and I guess that th noise level would be even worse if the restaurant was full."

"If I were not going to The Big Idea Theater for a friend's play that night, I would never had known about this hidden gem. The food was superb, the live jazz band was cool, and I really liked the "virtual menu" that the server presented. When I asked about a dish, the server presented an iPad with pictures for a majority of the dishes and explained what to expect from each dish asked about. I thought it made the anticipation of our food that much more alluring. I loved the atmosphere, the bar drinks, and the food. To sum it up, YUM!!! And, I, and the rest of my party, are already planning another fabulous night starting with Mama Kim Cooks."

"Our fourth time there, went to celebrate a birthday. As always, lotsa fun and GREAT food. Our not-so-adventurous-eater daughter branched out and tried a few new things...successful experiment. Enjoyed visiting with one of the cooks later. Like the laid-back vibe, but upscale. Mama Kim's is a new fav for our family."

"My wife and I first attended Mama Kim's for a wine maker dinner and loved it. My wife decided it would be perfect for her birthday celebration, and it was. We went on a Saturday night so there was music with Phillip singing blues and other songs from the sixties with a wonderful electric guitar accompaniment. Carol sang along on most of the songs. Phillip sang her happy birthday with style. The food was exquisite. I had the beet salad, baby backed ribs and jalapeno corn bread and I can't recall what Carol had right now, but she was blown away. We also had a pecan pie type dish with a small amount of ice cream and a sweet cream sauce that was unbelievable. We will definitely bring friends back with us."

"Just had the Easter brunch: delicious food, live music, great service. What more could you want? Special brunch menu items we chose were wild mushroom frittata with grilled asparagus and heirloom beets; my partner had smoked trout hash and eggs and both were scrumptious. Additional treats included fresh fruit, scones, hot cross buns and four desserts. As for service, Beth was attentive and anticipated our needs. A lovely morning."

"Food was wonderful - very good service! Only problem was the noise level - fairly loud in general, however once the live performer got started we literally had to shout across the table to each other...would have liked the music to be quieter."

"fun night. wonderful music and great food. place was slammed and service a bit off as to pacing of food and responsiveness. this will come in time though if they keep working at it as the establishment is young. adding a bus boy when that busy would help. remembering to clear all from dinner before dessert would then be easier, etc. etc. But, excellent food and that is what counts the most."

"Very cool place in a neighborhood that is a little sketchy at times. My friend had the fried chicken and reports that it was delicious. I had salad, and sides of the cornbread and scalloped potatoes and it was all quite tasty! Great live music in the background and a fun evening with a friend! I am definitely planning to return to sample the brunch....very cool place with great food!"

"Great vibe. On Sunday morning however I missed my Bloody Mary.....they only have beer and wine, and unfortunately the sake Bloody Mary didn't do it! Food was great but for the price they could have been a bit more generous with the crab on the Benedict. But great feel. We will be back!"

"The music that night was good, but too loud, making it hard to hear a person speak from across the table. Other than that, we would have given an overall outstanding experience."

"It was nice but for the price, I would have liked a bigger table even though it was only two and it took to long to get our food. Chef Ramsey would not be pleased with the wait time. I was not happy with the wait time or where they sat us against the wall, small table. Our food totaled 140 and they should have sat us at a bigger table. I may try it again but not at a special event, the seating was not that comfortable but the entertainment was nice and food."

"Live jazz music was a nice touch for Sunday morning (although it's a little loud for such a small space) and the chicken and waffles are appropriately raved about. The smoked pork loin chop was also very flavorful. There were two very large groups when we were there, so the service was a little slow, but friendly. I'd go back!"

"The food was some of the best I've had. Truly amazing! Best pecan pie ever! Wonderful music on Fri. and Sat. nights...only loud if you wanted to talk, especially with the wide tables. Waiter was great...not his fault (I don't think) that it took over an hour to get our food. That was the only downside. Not sure if they had a problem or if that's the usual case. The kitchen looked small..."

"The food and service at Mama Kim Eats are both outstanding! The lettuce salad with pears and cheese was fresh and balanced with a wonderful light dressing. The smoked salmon small plate was amazing - all the flavors worked well together. The live music was an added plus. We will definitely be back. I can't wait to explore more of the menu!"

"Went there on a Friday night when they had their live music. The restaurant was full of energy as it was packed, yet it still had a great feel to it. The food was so amazing and delicious. Definitely price friendly as there are other restaurants where their food is nowhere near as delicious and charge more.
Great place for a date as well as a large party. I can't wait to come back and try them out for brunch as I have heard so many great things from people. My server did tell me about their wine dinner this month that I am going to make sure that I attend after the dinner that I had."
