We were in DC for the weekend (Mother's Day) and couldn't have picked a worse time for a dining experience.
Not an issue here. Our hostess (who had been on since 8:30 AM) was friendly and joking with the patrons. She even sat us early.
Our waiter was perfect (he had been there since 7:30). Our reservation was for 7PM.
The service was attentive. The food was perfect. The atmosphere was energetic. The view was beautiful. Perfect experience.
Must try. Plus parking was free in Georgetown on Sunday. Woot Woot!!!"

"I've been to Sequoia's many times. I have to say that I was unimpressed with their service this Mother's Day. The food was plentiful, but not any better than an a low tier restaurant. The eggs benedict was just awful with hollandaise sauce served cold and chunky. This was the first time in my experience that Sequoia's had the buffet in a back room (in the past it was in the middle of the dining area). People were lined up out the room, and the room was crowded. We also had to wait 15 minutes for a highchair for our son.
I will say that the wait staff was excellent.
I will not return for Mother's Day."

"All I can say is I'm glad I made a reservation. This place was extremely packed and it looked like a lot of people were waiting for a long time. Which is odd, because we took the upstairs seating and it was pretty empty and less noisy. Overall the service was good my only complaint would be the buffet food was cold. I went to the carving station and my turkey was cold also my eggs where cold. There were long lines to get into the buffet. I would recommend table direction to prevent people from standing in long lines to get food only to get back to their table and their food is cold."

"Despite the large attendance, after all it was Mothers Day, the atmosphere provided "private dining." It was obvious that our menu selections were given individual attention. "Sequoia's is expensive, and therefore I expect that the food should be fabulous. It was not. You are paying for the scenery which is amazing and beautiful right on the water. The crab cakes were poor.......way too much filler, and definitely not "lump" crabmeat. The fish we had was average, and really not much with it in terms of a side dish. $34 for a piece of fish that is average? I suggest you go here for cocktails and maybe an appetizer, and sit outside or near the window but go elsewhere for your dinner."

"Sequoia is always nice. For mothers day w were seated in the bubble away from the near bedlam in the main dining room. I am not a fan of buffets but on this day there aren't many options. The food was really well done and the servi ce we received was great especially for a buffet seating.

"The scene and atmosphere of the restaurant was nice but the food was horrible. My girlfriend ordered seared chicken with mashed potatoes and I had crab cakes. Garbage. The chicken at KFC tasted better than the so called "food" they served. The crab cakes left much to be desired. The menu needs to be reworked as it's a massive disappointment. I'm only going back to this place to drink at the outdoor bar. Don't go here for dinner. Take my word for it."

"I came to eat here with a group of 11 family members recently to celebrate my graduation. Large groups are always difficult-- either the service is slow, or someone ends up unhappy with their food. Neither of these were the case, thankfully! Our waiter was very personable, but not invasive, and the food was really delicious! It was unfortunately raining the night we came, but regardless, the view was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to large groups!"

"I reserved a table, which was obviously unnecessary when I arrived. I specifically requested a tabe by the windows, which is probably 50% of the tables. We were seated as far from the windows as possible behind a huge pillar. Why bother with reservations?"

"I went to Sequoia on a friend's recommendation & was fairly satisfied with the decision. I had the spinach strawberry salad, which was good & the chili grilled salmon, which sounded intriguing but was fair at best. It arrived at my table almost as soon as I finished my salad, so that gave me the impression it was sitting under a heat lamp. Considering the dryness of the fish, my guess is that it was. The service was outstanding & very attentive.
There were a coue of large parties there, so the noise level was a bit more than I prefer when I'm dining.
The view was fantastic! That made the visit well worth the effort."

"Restaurant was relatively empty for lunch, but even with rain the view of the Potomac from a window table was beautiful. The young man who was our server was the perfect balance of attentive but not intrusive. The food was actually far better than I anticipated and there was an excellent selection from the raw bar.
I would definitely go back again."

"Truly awesome brunch, and reasonably priced...particularly since the champagne/mimosas are included (and apparently unlimited). I belong to a city club and a country club which serve brunch, but Sequoia is where I now will go for Sunday Brunch!"

"I have eaten at Sequoia since it opened and this is the first time I would give it a poor overall rating. The first problem started with being shown to a table. We had reservations and were right on time. There was plenty of open seating. We were shown to five different tables; the hostess was being misdirected by her colleagues. It was disrespectful to her and us. Then we didn't get service. No water,then no drinks, no drink menu was provided and the table wasn't cleaned. We were made to feel second class. We had a host answer questions about the food and then bring us bread. We were there for brunch. I had a salad that I'd had many times; it was half the size as previous. "Food for the price was disappointing. Oysters served with packaged saltine crackers, and the packets were atop the oysters. Seafood Bisque was slopped around on the tray losing its presentation, as well. Signature Chilean Bass was horrible. Rarely saw the waiter after a quality introduction to the menu. Tables crammed together, could barely find an exit. Not on our list to ever repeat."

"The food was excellent. However, our server was slow and there was a wedding going on in the restaurant which made the noise level for the dining room extremely loud with the music. That was not the level we wanted for dining and conversation. We had to almost yell to our friends to hear one another. They need to investigate a sound proofing system. Fine dining should not have loud music."

"Great atmosphere, mediocore service. Waited very long time for everything. ordered coffee first cup was luke warm. took 15 minutes for refill that was cold. Then about 10 minutes for another cup to come which was finally hot. Our silverware was taken away with the first course. When our entrees came would had to ask twice for more silverware to eat. Waitress came later and said sorry it wasn't the food delivers responsiblity to bring more silverware since they were so swamped.
I love the atmosphere but we only go when we have a long time and then we make jokes about the service."

"The food was mediocre at best. The pasta primavera was bland, non-descript, forgetable. It wasn't served hot so the cream sauce congealed. Spinach salad was run of the mill, similar to what one would expect at Olive Garden. A pretty place with no substance. Could not recommend and would not return."
