At The Lambs Club - Bar, Chef Geoffrey Zakarian has created a relaxed and inviting restaurant serving updated bar & grill offerings. The bar comfortably accommodates daytime meetings or refined cocktails in the evening with large round banquettes and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto 44th Street. Live Jazz is offered Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 7:30pm-11pm. Afternoon Tea, full dinner menu and bar snacks available.
Located within The Chatwal Hotel, The Lambs Club provides room service for the 76 hotel rooms and oversees private dining in the various event spaces throughout the building. This landmark masterpiece was originally built and designed by Stanford White in 1905 and just reopened after a major renovation and restoration with every detail overseen by architect Thierry Despont.
"The Lamb's Club is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the theatre district, but our service was so awful that we nearly missed an 8:00 curtain with a 6:30 reservation (and we were a half a block from the theatre). We never saw our waitress again after our orders were taken, but no one else seemed to have responsibility for our table. We told everyone that we were pre-theatre yet our food- light bar fare- did not arrive till almost 7:30. We could barely get drinks and had to chase someone down for our check. What should have been a perfect pre-theatre meal was nothing but stressful. I had seen other reviews slamming the service here but thought perhaps they had taken notice and had improved so we took a chance. Big mistake."

"Garry at the bar was impeccable and exhibited every trait one could ask for in a professional in this environment. I was overly impressed with how attentive he was to our every whim, what a great experience..."

"Services was poor. It constantly required getting the attention of someone. Service was unacceptably slow, which took away for the experience... About 2 and a half hours to have a three course dinner with drinks for a party of 2."

"We booked the bar by mistake for a pre-Broadway show meal. They have a great "PreFixe" menu that was what we wanted when we thought we were reserving the restaraunt. They accomodated our needs. We had a wonderfully tasty meal, excellent propretary cocktails and prompt service. We will return!"

"The mezzanine Bar/restaurant is a great place to take out of towners for a different NYC experience. The tapas and appertizers can easily be made into a dinner."

"There was a private function that monopolized the serving staff, kitchen, and made us feel like we were uninvited guests. The noise was deafening and we will not return."

"waited half hour for drink had to tackle a waiter to get ketchup and salt and peppero hamburger and fries. excuse was that they have a dining room downstairs but since we had a reservation in the bar room for dinner, that is not a good answer food was excellent--we would have had 2/3 drinks and 2 courses if they served them."

"We booked restaurant to have dinner before a broadway show. Arrived at 5:45. Service was awful we had to wait forever for our drink order. By the time our appetizers came we knew we were in trouble! !!! I told the waitress we need to make an. 8:00 pm show. Well the short of it our food never came. Left angry and hungry. Oh by the way way overpriced. Plenty of other optionsto eat in that part of town."

"The dinner was a complete failure on the part of the wait staff and kitchen. After 30 min of waiting I had to ask the hostess to send someone over to take our drink order and give us menus. At that time we explained that we had tickets to a Broadway show and wanted to make certain the kitchen could complete our entrees on time. We were assured there would be no problem. Next our drink orders took 15 min and were wrong. Our orders were finally taken and again we reminded our server of our time constraint. She assured us we would fine. 1 hour later our food arrived but we had only 15 min to "enjoy" our meal. The only consolation is the manager agreed that our horrendous experience deserved to be comp'd. I expected much better from Zakarian"

"Had a wonderful Restaurant Week dinner with friends. The food was terrific, and the ambience was even better. The unusually awesome soundtrack (Peggy Lee's "Fever" in a theater district restaurant?!) was supplemented by LIVE JAZZ at the end of our dining experience. It was terrific. This place is spendy for me-- hence restaurant week-- but I'd love to return for a cocktail or a meal, when I'm feeling flush."

"Considering that we decided to keep our reservations despite the storm, it was such a relief to be greeted by such a friendly and helpful staff. Our server was extremely friendly and was always willing to answer any questions we had. What she didn't know she found out the answer. Starting with the bread, which we were told was homemade, the food was great. The bread was served warm, which not all restaurants do but should. Appetizers were good, I had the lambs club salad,my sister had the crudo of hamachi, my friend had the burrata. The entrees were the best of the 3 courses. My friend had the duck rillette. I must admit I wish I had picked that. Crispy and tasty. My sister and I had the short ribs. I wish they had been a bit more tender."

"Service was superb. Incredibly friendly staff, quick, felt well taken care of. My comment has to do with the food. My duck was far too salty, almost inedible, the mousse cake and passion fruit were just fine, hamachi was well balanced but on the plain side. Sad to say that what I enjoyed most was the bread on the table (which in all honesty was quite delicious). Wouldn't go back for the food, but thank you for the experience."

"Beautiful re-do of an old, traditional space into a smart, sophisticated, upscale restaurant. Excellent food, service, and bright ambiance. But very pricy which is why we took advantage of Restaurant Week. Would only recommend for very special occasions or expense-account dining."

Crudo of Hamachi - Nice presentation but nothing special. Strong sudachi overpowered other taste. Crispy Skin Duck Rillette - Duck was excellent. Tons of meat. Shredded duck topped with a crispy skin and shaped into a bar. Sauce was too salty and the broccolini burned. Honey Pistachio Cake - Cake was too dry. Sorbet too sour.
Me and my friend ordered tea after our meal. It took forever to arrive. May they have to boil water? Jon ordered a Peppermint tea and I, Green. We both got Earl Grey. We told the waiter; he said they were correct. He took the teas away and we still got charged $12. Pointed it out and on the new bill, we still got charged $6. At that point, we just gave up."

"We had a great dinner at the Lambs Club as part of restaurant week. The pre-fix menu had a variety of options and had a wine pairing we took advantage of. The building/space itself is really nice - very art decco.
Only negative is that they weren't really clear about what hours they were offering the Restaurant week menu for. The website just said that they were offering it for dinner but then it let me make a reservation (via the restaurant week site) for 4pm (we had an event to get to). However, they only offer that menu starting at 5pm. Fortunately we were able to relax with a drink and then then moved us to another table at 5pm and everything worked out"

"Beautiful ambiance and welcoming staff. Wine list is well thought-out, but a bit pricey. All of the food was over-salted...not necesarry because it would have been delicious with less seasoning. Best items from the kitchen that night were the bread and the desserts. Perhaps the Iron Chef left the kitchen to judge "Chopped" that evening?"

"This place was a " once in a lifetime" sort of place if you are a regular person. It was very pricey but very worth it for a treat for a special occasion. The food is gourmet and the building has a rich history. Was it worth 70 to 100 dollars a person? Debatable"

"We went to the Lambs Club for dinner during restaurant week. Since I had made the reservations under a nycgo.com link, we were seated in the mezzanine lounge area instead of in the main dining area. We ordered from the pre-fix theater menu and had the wine paring with our dinner. We learned that you could only order from the regular menu or pre-fix theater menu in the dining room. While the decor was lovely in the mezzanine lounge area, I found it to be very noisy due to the happy hour crowd that was in the upstairs. I think I would prefer to dine downstairs for the amount that our dinner cost us!"

"Great food and decor, horrible host and waitstaff. Everyone seemed annoyed that they had to work the night I had dinner there. This was my 4th time, and if the same waitstaff and host are here the next time, I will just go somewhere else. Too bad, food is wonderful."

"Unfortunately the night we ate at the Lams Club - Bar, was one during which the service was extremely poor. I've eaten downstairs, which is a much better experience overall. We were moved from our table, after we'd been seated for 30 minutes. The wine we ordered wasn't available. It took way too long for the food to come, and when it did, it was room temperature. Very disappointing because the food preparation was quite beautiful, and I'm sure had the food been hot, it would have been delicious."

"we went to Lambs Club pre-theater during restaurant week. They only honored the restaurant prices if you ate in the bar. It was really pretty and we sat in a booth that was roomy. The waiter understood that we were going to the theater and he kept coming over to push us along. The menu was a little limited, and we ended up ordering items from the regular menu -- which meant that we probably should've sit in the more elegant dining room. I started with the hamachi -- the fish was fine but it had jalapeno peppers on them which were tasteless and not spicy. My short ribs were caramelized and delicious. Chocolate mousse was just ordinary. But it was across the street from the theater and we made it to the play in plenty of time."

"Don't go to the Lamb's Club Bat Room during restaurant week unless you want to feel like a second class citizen. After making reservations and confirming letting the hostess know we might want to participate in RW (as they had asked while confirming) we arrive to the hostess desk and were asked again. I said possibly, it would depend on the menu (which is NOT available online). She hands us the RW menu as we stand there coats on not seating us until we make a decision. In the many RW meals I have had never did I have to decide on the spot before I was even seated. I felt so rushed and uncomfortable I asked why? Was there different seating for RW. She said yes. I asked to be seated in the RW area but wanted a regular menu as well. Rude."

"I had asked for a quiet table and was given probably the quietest table there BUT it was still at a noise level that made conversation difficult. The food was very good. The selections on menu for restaurant week were very good. The wine and drinks prices were very expensive. Although the food was good, I would not go back because of the noise."
