"I love fois gras, and I order it almost anytime a chef is bold enough to try it. Well, thank goodness Dominique tried it! It may have been the best I've ever had - perfectly seared, the texture of soft butter inside, on molasses-like toast, sprinkled with rock salt. Wow!"

"Snapper was overcooked and searing hot so continued to cook. Deserts excellent. Portions are modest. Stunning design but noise level intolerable; banquette tables way too long & not intimate; mirrors along banquette wall are at right height for a gallery, but too high for guests facing the wall to scope out people & activity behind them & that takes away half the fun of dining at a chic/busy restaurant. It seems like they are trying too hard to make a statement.
Patio is one of best outdoor spots in NO.
The chef is one of best in city & I loved dining at the previous incarnation of this restaurant. It seems that sadly, the focus has shifted from the food. But the place is still relatively new & all of these complaints are easily fixed."

"The food was excellent. Our main server was very good but the back waiter poured our bottled water over ice? The dishes were truly market fresh and the vegetables were outstanding! The decor is sleek and modern and quite comfortable. Loved the wine list-unusual in a good way with what seemed like smaller production hand picked wines. We would have liked to see a good seasonal fruit based baked dessert on the menu- the desserts were slanted toward primarily "creamy" textures. We will most certainly be back, again and again."

"Everything was great food wise but the service needs a little fine tuning. The waiter brought out the wrong app and after we told he he brought the right one but he still charged us for all of them. This was also the case with a drink he sent over for the kids that wasn't ordered and yet again was on the bill."

"Unexpectedly wonderful meal. We had a group of 4, and were seated outdoors on a balmy night in New Orleans. The courtyard was delightful, although slightly marred by some outdoor type furniture shoved against a wall. The server was wonderful, but the service was slow in terms of getting waited on initially, and all-over pace of the evening -- although we were happy just being there. The food was spectacular. We were disappointed that the soft shell crab special announced by our server was not available after two of us ordered it. This place is a real find, our food was superb, and we will go back the next chance we get."

"Dominique's on Magazine lived up to every expectation I had. The food was beyond perfection. The royal red shrimp cerviche was amazing and the duck pate was delicious. Our entrees in addition were fabulous. The atmosphere was also beautiful. From the moment you enter, you are transported to another world. They pay attention to every detail. The restaurant even offers their own off street parking. We are local and go to dinner a lot. Whether you are having an intimate dinner for two or have a group of people- this is the perfect place."

"What a delight! We had a memorable meal at Dominique's. The scallops with papardelle were especially divine. I'm so glad we found Dominique's while we were visiting New Orleans. It is one of the best meals we have ever had here - and there's a lot of competition in this town! The only small thing I would mention is that, like most businesses in the south, the air conditioning is set too cold, so bring a sweater."

"I just moved into the neighborhood and decided to try out Dominique's new restaurant and I'm glad we did! We started with the louisiana oysters, duck pate and sweetbreads, which all were delicious! For our entrees we chose the maple leaf duck breast, scallops and spaghetti and meatballs. The Spaghetti and meatballs were the favorite at the table. At first I was skeptical of ordering it but I'm glad I did! For dessert we ordered the Almond Nougatine and Banana Creme Tartlette, which were both great endings to a fabulous dinner. We have already made plans with other friends to attend the restaurant again. Enjoy New Orleans!!"

"Everything about Dominique's on Magazine was terrific except the noise inside. Sound bounced off all those hard surfaces, creating a din that made normal conversation impossible. My date and I were able to escape the clamor by dining outside in the lovely patio, but that won't be feasible in New Orleans' sultry summers. I hope the owners have fixed the noise problem by then."

"As a New Orleanian who dines out often, I can attest to how wonderful Chef Macquet's first version of his Dominique's Restaurant was. However, there are real problems with the newer, larger iteration. My visit there recently was disappointing. The food was still very good, but the serice was terrible. It started with the food order being taken and submitted to the kitchen well before the "handcrafted" cocktails arrived. This set in motion a series of events from which the young waitress was not able to recover. The wait-staff engages in the unprofessional practice of pre-bussing the tables (removing the plate of a finished diner while the other is still eating). Perhaps worst of all is the constant, headache inducing noise (on a Tuesday!)"

"Only open 5 weeks, but already one of the top restaurants in the city. The ambiance is great and the staff is vell versed on the menu. The spaghetti and meatballs are done with a veal reduction and are fantastic. The black drum was also fantastic. I had the cassoulet made with lamb and fresh lima beans that was incredible. Can't wait to go back."

"Service and food were excellent. Portion size was great. The restaurant is sleek and modern. Noise level can be loud when the room is full. Enjoyed the whimsical cotton candy which was served after our meal."

"Restaurant is beautiful but extremely under staffed. We actually left after appetizers because service was so poor. Hopefully soon they will get it together! Beautiful dining room. Great potential."

"I wanted so badly to enjoy it! I wanted to fall in love with the restaurant, but unfortunately this place is absolutely beautiful with no soul. I get you grow your own herbs (servers had to remind me over and over that the herbs where grown in house), I get everything that you are trying to do, but fancy digs do not make the meal. I love New Orleans so much for the life, music, history, people and resilience. This city is a place like no other in the world, but the food here is so mediocre. What happened? There are a few in this city who are not afraid to produce good food. This place is just not one of them and maybe it's because they are new but are they really? Same same but different is the saying but I go out to eat for the food."

"Each of our courses was delicious and lovely on the plate. The lobster and fennel salad and the artichoke soup were very special. The scallop entre with fresh pasta was a hit. The cheese selection most delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the "what's in the box" cocktail. The chef made his rounds to the satisfaction of the patrons."

"Maybe they're just getting their act together, but it was disappointing. I arrived a few minutes before my friend and was seated, you'd think the world would end if someone was sitting alone for 5 minutes. I had at least 4 different staff members come over to ask me if I needed a drink, wanted to order while I was waiting, and whether or not someone was actually coming to meet me. When she did arrive, my friend also was immediately asked if she wanted a drink, wanted more time to look at the menu, etc., it was ridiculous. And the food wasn't good. I ordered eggs over-easy, which I think they did but then put them on a scorching hot plate (they were VERY proud of the fact that they heat their plates, VERY) which cooked them through. Duh."

"The food is outstanding. The service was a bit slow; I think they needed more waitstaff support. The restaurant is very noisy as it is a big, modern space. The courtyard is lovely. Their drinks are made with care and are excellent. Definitely worth a visit!"

"A diversion from most New Orleans restaurants... feels very Miami. Fantastic contemporary art on the walls, vertical gardens and a great outdoor lounge. The lobster salad was the most memorable, and all the food was excellent (as is always true for Chef Dominique). Thoughtful and unique cocktail menu, and a good and reasonable wine list. We cannot wait for the chef's table upstairs to open!"

"Chef Dominique is an extremely talented chef. The food was wonderful! My boyfriend had the coulette and said it was the best piece of steak he has ever had. He started with the shrimp civiche, which was served with torilla chips. The shrimp was tangy and refreshing. We both declared we could eat 3 or 4 more servings of that alone! Certainly something you MUST order if you are a fan of civiche. I had a delicious duck and cauliflower soup to start and then the drum fish with lima beans. Both dishes were executed magnificently. The flavors melded beautifully and the fish was cooked to perfection as was my boyfriend's coulette. The prices are very affordable for the quality being served and the wine list reflects the same philosophy."

"Just opened, great decor and comfortable, waiters attentive and they overheard my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and at the end of dinner they brought us a complimentary dessert. Stay tuned -- they are beginning to serve brunch on Sundays and their outdoor courtyard dining looks like a great area to dine as well."

"Excellent cocktails list online, disappointed not on menu. Very good Manhattan, Blood & Sand a little sweet. Sweetbreads appetizer to die for, ceviche also excellent. Wife's diver scallops excellent, my lamb very good, though suffering from the lamb syndrome (a lot of bones and not so much meat. Good wine selection. Goat cheese cake lagged a little, almond Nougatine was excellent."

"I had been waiting for the restaurant to open, as I had so enjoyed Dominique's previous incarnation further up Magazine St. The restaurant only opened a few days before I dined there, so I expected a few rough edges, but... staff was completely overwhelmed. Once we were seated, we waited 25 minutes for someone to take a drink order, the waiter brought the wrong entree, and the place was EXTREMELY noisy. Overall it was not a pleasant experience. However, the food was very good when it finally came, which is the only reason I might give it another try in a few months."

"Great twist on old standards, creative cocktails, and a roaming chef to make sure all tables are happy with their bites. Always enjoy the dessert lagniappe cotton candy spun onto sugar cane sticks too. Glad to see that the long wait as operations moved to the new location was well worth it!"
