"Nobody acknowledged my bday. The tacos were scrimpy. My friend's mac was pretty good. Love the Sweet Potato Fries w/ avocado. Always pretty bomb. The drinks are pretty good, and I love the old chub scotch ale. But the doughnuts - huge dud."

"I went with a group of 7 for brunch on a Sunday. The music was incredibly loud for that time of day! We asked twice if they would turn it down. Something went wrong with one of my friend's meals and we were all practically done eating by the time she got her food. They were very apologetic about it and asked if she wanted anything while she waited. Overall it's a fine place but I wouldn't go back with a large group for brunch. It's a good happy hour spot."

"Great ambiance and decor for intimate sit down with small group of friends or 2 people. Bar area was very alive and vibrant (Sunday evening). Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I wasn't crazy about anything I ordered (very bland) but the menu is eclectic and everything sounds delicious. I will go back to try the other dishes for the decor and setting makes it worth it."

"This place is very expensive for what it is, with a staff that seems easily overwhlemed. One of the items deliverd to the table was the wrong thing, and the server insisted it was I who had made the mistake. Very loud. TVs were blaring as well as the stereo."

"I had the raw kelp salad with grilled chicken, delicious!
This place accommodates many crowds - a great place for a date or an evening out with a group of friends. I haven't been for a night out on the weekend yet, but there was plenty of bar space.
I took a friend here for dinner on her first time out in Chicago and she loved it. The ambiance is casually classy, quiet enough for good conversation yet energetic.
Prices are very reasonable. We spent $60 total (including gratuity) for a meal for 2 including craft beers (the drink selection is spectacular!)."

"went here for resteraunt week just recently- it was still cheaper to order a la carte vs off the resteraunt week menu. we ordered a bunch of different things and i was very underwhelmed with everythin. definately not worth the amount of money that we spent. we got the duck wings- they were very gamey. also the burger had no flavor and the meat was so dense. of the other items- which i cant remember (obv not that memorable) nothing was really outstanding. i would probably not reccomend and i will definately not be dining there again."

"OTS was great! Maggie was our server and took care of us and made sure we had any food or drink that we needed. I don't think it was loud. I wonder if they need the music to be as loud in the living room area as the rest of the bar. Its pretty intimate and I'd rather not raise my voice to talk to my date."

"Went on date with my long-time girlfriend. They have little 2 person private dining rooms that are more appropriately described as closets, but they really negate a lot of the noise. They have a curtain that is pulled back so you can still see the bar/restaurant, but it makes dining more enjoyable and romantic. Food was exceptional for it being a bar. Price was not very high if you frequently eat close to downtown."

"Let me just start by saying that if you're looking for an extensive beer list, loud music and a decent crowd, Old Social will fit the bill; however, if you're looking for good service or great food, it's not the place for you. I have been here twice in the last month, and unfortunately, I have been unimpressed both times. I brought a group of 7 girls here (all of who are from out of town) last weekend and the service was HORRIBLE. The waitress and the busser both acted like it was a huge hassle to serve us. It took 30 minutes to get drinks, an hour to get our food, and when my friend asked for salt and pepper (for her bland Mac and cheese) the bus boy had the nerve to roll his eyes. If I could write more I would. Not a good experience."

"It was our wedding anniversary and they treated us like royalty. Our server Amanda was absolutely fabulous. She was very helpful in picking out food we would like as well as beer. She was very attentive and still gave us our space for a great and romantic evening. And the manager, Matt, was so gracious and welcoming. We can't wait to go back. A+"
