Galveston Restaurant Group presents Nonno Tony's World Kitchen, offering Italian fusion, Creole and traditional American fare. The open-style kitchen features a steam kettle bar and brick ovens. An extensive beer and wine list is also featured in "Paulie's Bar."
"Nonno," Italian for "Grandfather," is attributed to Galveston Restaurant Group's patriarch, Tony Smecca (father of owners Joey and Johnny Smecca). "Paulie's Bar," another family namesake, is named in honor of Danny Hart's father, the third partner of Galveston Restaurant Group.
Nonno Tony's world flavors feature technique honed at other Galveston Restaurant Group properties.
Galveston Restaurant Group has brought the "art of good eating" to patrons since 1997, with restaurants including Saltwater Grill, Mario's Seawall Italian Restaurant, Papa's Pizza, Sky Bar & Sushi and Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar
"This was a special occasion celebrating Mother's Day for 3 mothers and 1 birthday. The owner welcomed us and told us the waitress would assist us with the menu. She seemed to push the most expensive items on the menu including the wine. The shrimp was good according to one mother, the special redfish was just ok for the price of 36.00 and the 4 season pizza was not eaten more than one slice. One mother liked her margarita pizza and ate the whole thing. The Italian cake tasted like it had been refrigerated with other foods and had taken on their flavor. The staff was nice, but this is not a location we will revisit. They have a nice location."

"Beautiful restaurant with an interesting menu. Poor service: no lemon in tea; tea watered down; silverware slow to be replaced after salads; steaks medium rare not medium as requested. Managers-you saw all this. Be more pro-active.
Food was mediocre."

"We had a reservation and were seated at first next to a long table in the back next to a large family with many children. There were lots of open tables in the front that we walked past. Menus on these tables indicated that they were reserved. There were many not reserved. I told the hostess that I wished to move and we were moved. My wife ordered meatballs and a Greek salad and I ordered Mediteranian Snapper. All food came at once. The meat balls were to be an appetizer. Waiter said "sorry" with a shrug. My snapper was floating in oil. Choked it down."

"Delicious! Was very surprised with this restaurant, being in a high tourist area. I had the fried shrimp and caprese salad. Lightly fried very large shrimp and the temperature was excellent. My husband had the salmon, cooked to perfection. Will return!"

"nice addition to Pier 21 restaurants .. nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about .. it can be noisy .. Not sure if it is really Italian as name would suggest nor is it seafood as location would suggest .. we would go back."

"After picking my parents up from their cruise we visited Nonno Toni and had a delicious lunch. The staff was professional, knowledgeable & prompt. Each course was wonderful & dessert (panna cotta, not on the menu so ask for it) was divine! We will definitely return."

"The food was excellent. Not much of a view even though it was on the water. Service was alos excellent. We were seated in the back room. Quite and private. We were the only ones there. Other couples were seated still quite. Then a coupel of young ladies were seated with young children. They tried to keep them from SCREAMING, but not much luck. It was a great place for a Valentine's Day dinner except for the screaming kids."

"I chose this for a nice Valentine’s Day Dinner excursion. I typically don't mind dropping $150 to $200 for dinner on a night like this, so it was great to come in at $125 total for dinner and drinks. The food was great. We arrived 30 minutes early for a 7pm reservation and they sat us immediately. Outstanding service. This place has a lot of charm, located in the Historic Strand area of Galveston Island. We will be back."

"The Italian food is good, the pasta, salad and spinach. But the baked oysters and mussels were over worked and had odd seasoning that was too heavy. Why not just highlight Galveston's fresh catch in a light manner? We'll return for the pasta. We like the Pier area."
