Pranzo is Comfort Food for your Famiglia. Located in the Sanbusco Market Center on the Western edge of the Historic District, Pranzo has been a local favorite since 1988. We received the Wine Spectator 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 and 2012 Awards of Excellence. Broadway and Jazz are featured in the Geist Cabaret Fridays and Saturdays. From Pizza Margherita to Linguine Carbonara, to Lobster Gnocchi, Pranzo boasts Santa Fe's favorite Italian American cuisine, most knowledgeable waitstaff, New Mexico's deepest list of great Italian wines and 15 wines by the glass served Normale (6.3 oz.) and Gigante (9 oz.).
Introducing ALTO! Alto specializes in light fare-- small plates from $3-13. The wine list is composed 100% of Southern Hemisphere wines---from S. Africa, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand and Australia. Situated above the cottonwoods on Pranzo’s second floor, the Geist Cabaret will continue now with the Alto menu Friday-Sunday nights 6-9 p.m.
"A friend and I were looking for excellent Italian and good wine. We found both here. Bread was delicious and the three kinds of oils on the table were very good. We had the linguine with sausage and it was great! Loved the half portion as well. Ordered a Cesar salad with the dressing on the side and it was great as well. And the waitress didnt blink when I ordered it that way. My friend had the spinach salad which just spinach and dressing. Very nice ambiance, good prices. Highly recommended."

"As one of the other reviewers, I was surprised to see a new menu. It is indeed shorter than the previous menu. I tried one of their new dishes, and I'm glad I did It was refreshing to see a dish that could be called authentic Italian and not Americanized. If you want the flavors of Italy, you should go, if not ... go to another pizza place."

"We tried the updated prix fix menu at happy hour. Can't really complain for the price but nothing outstanding. I had the "strangled priest pasta" it was pretty bland, claimed to have basil but I couldn't find any in mine. My dining partner had the meatballs on polenta, a much better choice. The lemony bread and the ice cream are both really good and the wine selection is always interesting. Service is top notch, which is a real treat!"

"The menu has completely changed, there's a new chef. We tried to order two items, both of which were no longer available at only 7:15 on a Friday night. The beet salad ordered had no dressing and no gorgonzola cheese and only 3 pieces of beet. When dressing was brought to the table, it was merely a spoon full of vinegar. We've been going there for years and will not be returning."

"Great food but the "Full" sized pasta dish looked the same size or smaller than the "half" sized pasta dishes which were $7 less! Good food average service. And I love lemon, but several dishes were too lemony"

"Disappointing experience. We walked in just behind another couple. After a few minutes wait, we were greeted by a hostess who asked which of us was there first. She dealt with them only. They didn't have reservations, and were told she would reset a table for them, then she disappeared. More time passed, and another hostess came to take care of us. She found our reservation, and told the first hostess (who had reappeared) that she was putting us upstairs, also. That hostess seated the non-reservation couple first, at a table that was a good 250 sq. inches bigger than ours (which didn't have room for our food). The other couple got the waitress, the water, and the bread long before we did. And, too noisy to talk to each other."

"We are regular customers at Pranzo and Alto. Their food is very good! We sometimes eat in the bar having only an appetizer and a glass of wine, and other times in the dining rooms of Pranzo and Alto having a full dinner. We recommend this restaurant to friends all the time."

"We've dined at Pranzo for years and continue to appreciate the excellent food, beautiful presentation and great service. We shared a delicious spinach salad (it could have been a meal in and of itself) and they graciously accommodated my request to leave off the gargonzola cheese (dietary restriction). My husband had a lovely appetizer of carpaccio with plenty of capers. We appreciated the fact that they offer a choice of small portion of their pasta dishes that were the perfect size for us. We'll be back."

"Finally got to order the lasagne since I had my daughter to help me eat it! Was well worth it. Our food was very good, wine was superb and our waiter, Roberto was great. We eat at Pranzo's every time we visit Santa Fe. Sunday is half price on bottles of wine which makes it even nicer. Portions are large, but always save room for the ice cream!"

"This was a good restaurant years ago, but apparently it has gone downhill. Food was dreadful: chicken saltimboca that was overlooked and drowned in a mush of what appeared to be cream sauce and mashed potatoes--unseasoned and bland + lasagna that had obviously been frozen for too long with hard lumps of meat. Tasted like college dorm food. Definitely not worth the price."

"Pranzo is a good Italian place for Santa Fe. The food is home style Italian. The menu actually reminds me of the Italian restaurants on the hill in Saint Louis. This particularly was very crowded with several large groups, which was a bit disappointing. The noise was really high: my dinner mate and I nearly had to shout. Service was very slow. All of this is unusual for Pranzo: normally, it is fairly quiet and the service is fine. They offer two sizes of glass by the wine which I think is brilliant. Their wine list is good, too. And I think they have one of the best espressos in town."

"A warm and welcoming place to step out of the cold. Go to spend time with family and enjoy a good meal that is sure to please you. The flight of wine lets you sample your way through dinner if you can't decide from the extensive wine list. Try the delightful chile infused olive oil, yum!"

"I got a same-day reservation for six, when friends from out of town came suddenly. It was not my first choice, but it was all I could do at the last minute. It turned out to be wonderful--good food, good service and a terrific Restaurant Week deal."

"Noisy, and we had to as to be seated at a different table because of a very cold draft at the first table. This table was along the inside wall, where you would not normally expect a draft but apparently the walls leak. The second table was closer to the door so we go a cold blast every time the double set of doors were opened for a larger party but at least it wasn't a constant thing. Service was good, the food was tasty althought the portions were kinda small. Adequate for me, but my husband left hungry despite having a starter, main course and dessert. Wine is pricy."

Ordered a bottle of wine from flyer on table-Came by later and said they were out but he proposed a substitute which my friend agreed to if it cost the same he said it was same price and I said I'll bet it's $10 more-Later we found it was $10 more My friend said it was a bait and switchThen 3 of 4 entrees came-The last one was about 20 minutes late with an apology from mgr but no price adjustmentAlso because we ordered the special we had to order dessert at same time as app and entre which made us loch"

"The food and the ambience were exceptional. The service was friendly. We had to wait a while after our drinks ran out before we got a refill on our water, and the waiter didn't do much other than take our order and check on our table a couple of times. Each time we asked for something, he went and had someone else deliver it to our table. It turned out that he was the store manager, and let us walk up to see the beautiful upstairs area that was closed the night we went. We will definitely return here."

"This place has become my hangout in the last few years. Very good value for Santa Fe, dependable quality and service, and very attentive to my personal preferences every time I visit. Easy to find, centrally located, an easy walk from most downtown hotels - what more could you want?"
