"The Wagyu ribeye was outstanding. 20 oz filet never disappoints either. We split a 16oz lobster tail that was delicious. Also, the chocolate cake was a perfect ending. The price for two people, $350 including tip, was hefty but I dare say worth it for a special occassion."

"The food was good. I found out very large lobster tails are tough and will never order any over 8 oz. again. The room was full and louder than I prefer. I found it difficult to carry on a conversation without speaking up. Finally, I was disappointed and the way folks dressed. Jeans, flip flops, and tee shirts was not what I was expecting."

"I was staying at the hotel next door, and decided to walk over. I hadn't ever heard of the place, but saw their sign and the claim that they were "One of Americas Top 10 Steakhouses" and had to see for myself. They were right, I really can't say anything other than that the place was superb. Wonderful ambiance, great food, wonderful wait staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will be back."

"If you are going to splurge on a great, high-end steak dinner forget this place and head to Berns or Texas De Brazil or even Capital Grill. Overall, I was completely unimpressed. My fillet was surprisingly/uncharacteristically fatty and didn't seem to be seasoned at all; I understand the, "let the meat speak for itself" theory, but maybe a little nudge, S & P at least. Service was completely acceptable, but not blown away. Finally, I have never been a fan of a la carte. There are several better choices in Tampa for a great steak experience.
I almost forgot the biker in his Harley T and jeans at the table across from us. I love edgier characters, I really do, just not at a $100 a person restaraunt. If I gotta dress up so should he!"

"I selected Charley's Steak House for Mother's Day dining. First, the food was great. My dining party of five selected steaks, shrimp and pork shops as entrees. My guests were delighted with the food. The filet minion was divine. Our waiter was extremely attentive and offered a variety of meal and dessert suggestions. As for the desserts, the three tier chocolate cake was excellent but the carrot cake was just ordinary. Finally, overall the dining experience was excellent. The restaurant is a little on the expensive side but well worth it. Great steaks and excellent service, I highly recommend."

"My family and I went to Charley's in Tampa on 5/11/13 to celebrate my mother's birthday that was the day before and mother's day and it was fantastic! The restaurant was upscale without making us feel overwhelmed and the food was phenomenal! I loved our waiter Tarec as he was energetic and not pushy, but informative. My family and I had a wonderful time and I recommend Charley's in Tampa!!!"

"After a hiatus from Charley's, we decided to give the restaurant another try. Made reservations through OpenTable naturally, and also modified it to a later time via the same OpenTable process.
From the moment we stepped into Charley's, we could sense the difference - a more relaxed vibe without the excessive pretensions from "yesteryear".
I ordered the steak tartare as my appetizer. The steak tartare was very good, but could use a bit less Worchestershire sauce. The toasted points were too buttery, and didn't have the crispy texture that I prefer. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the steak tartare without the toasted points.
For my entree, I ordered the bison ribeye - It was prepared to my preference - medium rare with a nice charred crust."

"The service was excellent and the noise level was very comfortable. We used the online reservation service and it worked very well. I'm not sure if the table location was based on the online reservation or not, but I feel we had the worst table in the restaurant. It was the last table toward the back and it sit right next to a bus station with plates and glasses. Lots of activity (although the staff was very quiet). The appetizers were not that good (seared tuna possibly prepared in advance and shrimp and scallop dish not very favorable). The cheese bread was very good, but only a few were offered. The steaks were very large and the filet was cooked perfect and was very good. The New York strip was very good but undercooked."

"In a town with a wide selection of steak houses, Charley's can run with the best. Service was excellent and food was cooked to perfection. The bill does add up quickly if you go off of the standard menu, but the bison ribeye that I ordered was every bit as good as advertised! While Charley's is not the newest decorated, or most chic, if food is as important who's hanging around the bar, I would highly recommend going here!"

"very dissapointed. Filet was ordered "medium-well" and cut was cooked to a "well-done" condition. Seafood sampler appetizer was offered as an option (not on the menu). Also offered was blue crab claws ("would you like the crab claws with the sampler"?) Shame on me for not asking the price but this was the first (and last) time I pay $100 for an APPETIZER! Will not go back."

"Cold staff at first. Went to celebrate a 40th b-day and actually had a small balloon with us. You'd think you'd get a happy birthday at least but no such luck. Not looking to bash the place but I personally would not go back. That said, the steaks the table order were very good thus I would recommend to a friend. Just odd the reception we received, much colder than other similar quality restaurants like Berns, Ruth Chris and Flemings. Oh well."

"New to Tampa and with a gift card in hand, we tried Charley's for the first time. We were expecting fabulous food, and we got it! Perhaps not as expected, the service was impeccable. Our server, Erin, was polished, professional and knowledgeable, and she was genuinely welcoming. The entire dinner was flawless, from taste and presentation to Erin's attentive service. Definitely worth the price."

"We had the ultimate surf and turf which is a 50oz porterhouse and a 1.5lbs lobster tail. Absolutely cook to perfection, and the lobster is super sweet. Service were great as well. I would definitely coming back."

"Long story short, rude welcoming from hostesses was followed by a frustrating visit to the bar-out of ingredients and slow service, We were seated at a two top that lacked space and comfort. Service in general was sub par, lacked knowledge of menu and was more concerned with table turnover than diner experience. Cooking style or temperature was not an option for fish which resulted in an overcooked and under flavored dish, Check was dropped off without any offer of dessert or after dinner drinks, for a first time diner we will not be back."

"I must have dined on an off night. Service was iffy, meal needed to be sent back (but was taken care of) due to improper cooking, asparagus were luke-warm. In an otherwise superb establishment with food that is usually deserving of the price, I am hoping this was just a bad night for the chef."

"The seating was kind of tight given they have huge menus and the noise would be ok if it wasn't for that bit when you scoot your chair out because it's touching someelse's and you can hear their entire coversation.....then we're sitting too close.I thought the overall apprearance was abosolutely calming. I ordered the blackened chicken which is suppose to be spicey but wasn't and it was bland. The "Florida Gator" was abosolutely and undoubtably delicious and the wine was perfect! A girlfriend of mine ordered a butterflied steak with crab meat. The order was messed up twice. The waiter was very apologic and I understood but my girlfriend wasn't so happy since it's her favorite spot and I treating her for her birthday."

"My wife and I always enjoy a trip to Charley's. Great steak, and great atmosphere. I rated the noise level as "Engergetic" only because we were seated near the bar, which is the only noisy part of the location. Make sure you specify that you don't want bar-adjacent seating if you prefer a quieter evening."

"Well known steak house in Tampa, lived up to its reputation. Had rsrvtion, seated rt away though busy Sat. night. Ambiance is old school - dark and warm, but manages to be romantic for couples and fine for families/groups. Svce. was exc. - friendly, knowledgeable, attentive. Food was exc. Meals come with nice salad and home made garlic rolls - light and very tasty. My wife and I shared a lobster bisque (which the waitress split for us - nice touch), and it was top notch. Rich but not overwhelming, nice amount of sherry and good chunks of lobster. We then shared lamb chops - huge and delicious (bit fatty), a 14 oz. filet mignon - outstanding, and lobster mac/cheese - also delicious. Spent $120 incl. tip, no alcohol/dessert. High reco.!"

"The food was outstanding...steaks some of the best we've had and we are food people that entertain a lot. The restaurant did serve a couple of the steaks that were over cooked, but immediately replaced them , comped one of the entrees and gave us a very nice bottle of wine on the house for our troubles..manager intervened directly and turned a bad situation into a good one...we will return and tell our associates that Charley's is a great steakhouse..."

"We had never been to Charley's and wanted to try it. We had plans later in the evening so early dinner. Steak was excellent, appetizers good and salad was just ok. We never eat dessert. "The food was excellent, from the cedar plank crab cakes to the bison ribeye & beef ribeye.I would never order beef again, the bison was that good.The dessert which we shared was also great, a chocolate mousse pie.The only complaint I have is they do not enforce the dress code of business casual. We saw women with cut off jeans, cut way to short and boyfriend in T-shirt. Some men don't get it your ball cap comes off inside, ( staff should advise them) many looked more beach bar than business casual."

"An absolutely phenomenal meal from start to finish. Drinks and appetizers were good but you go to Charley's for the steak and they absolutely knocked it out of the park.
