Charley's Steak House and Seafood Grille - Kissimmee, FL
Charley's Steak House is owned by the Woodsby family and has operated in Florida since 1974. Charley’s serves only three-year-old USDA prime and choice Angus steers, aging them four to six weeks for tenderness & flavor and hand-cutting the steaks daily to ensure consistent quality. The steaks are then flame-broiled over Florida citrus and oak wood in a custom-built pit at 1200º searing in the tantalizing taste that has made Charley’s the #1 steakhouse in America every year since 2007! Charley’s philosophy of providing only the finest extends from the kitchen to the wine cellar. The wine list approaches 500 selections from scores of exceptional wineries around the globe. "We are long term residents of Kissimmee, and we have been going to Charlie's for years. Every time the food and service have been excellent. The steaks are simply the best that we have ever had. The seafood and side dishes are top shelf, and the deserts are rich and flavorful.
The cuisine is not gimmicky, but straightforward traditional dishes that are prepared to perfection. We all go to some restaurants because of their che-che value, while we always go to Charlie's for the food."

"Waited an excessive ammount of time to be seated with reservation only one party ahead of us who was also annoyed at the length of time to be seated. Seemed like maybe they were training somebody. Then when we were seated it was a full 20 min before our drink order was taken. They were not busy when we were seated. I seemed as though no body had been assigned to our table. Food was just ok nothing over the top for the prices you are charged. Our waitress seemed as though she was in the weeds all night. overall i would maybe give them another shot as maybe a buch of the people were having a bad night. Who knows good luck if you go there."

"Waiter was very hard to understand and not very friendly. New York strip steaks were terrible . Lot of fat and not very tender.Had to get another waiter to get silverware etc as our waiter was no where to be found until it was time for the check. Was the most disappointing birthday dinner I ever had. Taking friends to dinner on Friday. Hopefully it will be better, other wise Charley's has lost another two customers"

"We had never dined at Charley's before, but wanted to have a good steak. We made a reservation on Mother's Day and realized it would be crowded. However, we were very lucky to learn that Charley's has a lot of smaller dining rooms, which meant it didn't appear crowded or noisy. In addition, the meal was delicious and our server Jeremy was excellent.
We had the Tuna starter, which was excellent. The salad and bread were outstanding. The steaks delicious. The creamed spinach was wonderful. We topped the evening off with the cheese cake which we shared! It was very light and fluffy -- and the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner. We'll definitely be back!"

"We're not steak or seafood eaters but we always have an awesome experience at Charley's! We usually order the chicken which is very flavorful and not plain and boring like many restaurants! We order a side of asparagus and au gratin potatoes which are also excellent, the cheesy bread also makes the perfect meal! We always ask for David L to serve us and make sure we go on his day. He is excellent, very organized and attentive, he always makes us feel like the VIPs of the restaurant! Mark the Manager is also great! Last time we went with friends who were visiting from the UK, they ordered a steak and they loved it, was cooked perfectly and very tender! We end the meal with their key lime pie which, in our opinion, is the best around! :-)"

"I asked for a quiet location a business dinner with a party of ten. We were seated in a middle table of a run of about four long tables. We could not hear the waiter over the waitress at the table next to us. Conversation across the table was very difficult.
The cold appetizers were served without any utensils as were the crab cakes. The steaks were fine but it took almost an hour after the appetizers were finished before they arrived.
The portions are very generous but I would not say that our experience was anywhere close to what I expect from comparable steak and seafood establishments."

Its the "disney area" and people come as they are! maybe their other locations are less casual but the meats make up for any "visual" polution!The ribeye was to die for!!"

"Not impressed with the service. Food overpriced for the experience. The waiter ignored us halfway through our dinner. He did not bring us the steaks or ask how they were. We had to get another waiter to bring us out check. Took an hour and half to get our steaks. They were not even busy since we had reservations at 8:30 so we did not get our steaks until 10pm!!! By that time neither of us wanted dessert and it was our anniversary."

"I've been going to Charley's every time i go to Orlando for the last 10 years (3-4 times per year). I usually have a great experience, however on this particular night it was not so good. I was attending an annual tradeshow and decided to take a few customers to Charley's. I booked on Open Table for a party of 12 and they got us right in promptly at the time of the reservation with no waiting. Our waiter was Tony, he was very knowledgeable about the menu and the steaks, but that was about all he was good at. The service was horrible. We ended up getting a waiter from another table to get us some water, bread and other drink refills There's a lot more to tell but I guess I'm out of room."

"We celebrated our 40th anniversary dinner at Charley's before traveling home to Minnesota. The service & food was exceptional, the presentation of steaks on the menu was great too. We arrived early 5:45 pm and by the time we left many of the tables around us were occupied. It was nice to see a few families dining with their children (ages 5-15) who were very well-behaved. Great place to teach them about dining out at an exclusive restaurant.When we return to Florida we will definitely go to Charley's."

"We had an excellent server. She was well informed and explained all the different cuts of meats to us. She was willing to make any changes to our choices. We were introduced to the Bison bone in rib steak. It was tasty but a little hard to eat with the grizzle and fat. It was probably the cut and not the fact that it was the healthy bison meat. "Server greeted us by extending her hand for us to shake her hand, which we found inappropriate. Salads were great, but the main courses arrived cold and improperly prepared. Server was nowhere to be found. One of our three main courses was returned, but so late that the others had nearly completed eating their cold and improperly prepared steaks. We never received a visit from the manager. Before shaking our hands again as we left, the server informed us that she had Googled us (and found us) because she thought she recognized us, which we thought was strange."

"We had 8:30 reservations, made through Open Table, and we were seated almost immediately. I was surprised and put off, however, when the hostess addressed me by my first name, which I did not expect from what is clearly an expensive (albeit casual)restaurant. The service was a bit slow at first, and the waiter tried to upsell the filets, saying that the larger cut was likely to be more flavorful than the smaller cut. We bought a nice bottle of wine, but the waiter never once poured the wine for either my wife or me.

"This is a restaurant that we have been coming to for years while we are on vacation and always look forward to it. This year we were disappointed.
The waiter we had was good, but he was like a robot in his mannerisms. This was particularly true when he described the various steaks. He spoke very quickly and it sounded like he was just going through the motions. Each year I get the T-Bone steak this was no longer available. They did have a Porter House, however much too big for one person. My husband enjoys the Filet, but his piece was very grizzly. Not good for the price. Also, Filet should not be grizzly unless it is an inferior cut. The asparagus was terrible! Only 6 pieces that were extremely tough and stringy."

"fabulous food. We were there for a work meeting, but it was really noisy and pretty cramped. The food was sooo good you didn't even care about the noise or tight quarters"

"Brought out a group of nine business colleagues for a business dinner. Everyone had an awesome meal, and couldn't stop talking about the quality of the steaks they had at Charley's. The service was fantastic, and how all of the different cuts of meat were explained was terrific. I personally decided on the bison ribeye because of the explanation and recommendation made by our waitress. Two others ordered the bison, and a number had the Angus ribeye. Again, all raved about the steak, and were each cooked to exactly how requested. Would definitely recommend to others!"

"The bar was great with great drinks. The service was great too.
I noticed the wood plank floor in the bar was buckled as if it had been wet.
When we were seated in the diningroom area behind the bar area it had a strong musty smell. Sorry we didn't get up and leave then. We, 2 couples, had a good time talking and no one mentioned it until we were outside. I would go back but only if assured these issues had been resolved. Too bad...nice place."

"This was our third visit to Charley's on our annual trip to the Orlando area. We have enjoyed the food, but once again, the service was extremely slow! There is no reason that dinner on a Monday night needs to take three hours. On our last visit in March 2012, we had the exact same experience. Our server Kelly was pleasant, but kept explaining to us what she was doing to take care of her other tables. This leads me to believe that slow service is the norm and not the exception at Charley's. I do not plan to return."

"Steaks were delicious! They are cooked over a wood bbq and have a very distinctive flavor that you just don't find at other steak houses. We had surf and turf. Lobster tail was OK, not great. I would highly recommend the steaks!"

"I've seen Charlie's written up on the list of Top Steakhouses in airline magazines, so I was looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The food was marginal at best and the service wasn't on par with the truly high end steakhouses. I honestly cannot rate Charlies any better than your local Outback or Lone Star steakhouse chain. And it goes to show that you cannot trust the listings of Top Steakhouses because they are clearly paid advertisements."

"We drive over two and a half hours to eat at Charley's. Their lobster bisque, as well as their crab cakes are the best by far. We have eaten these same items at many other restaurants and they just can't compare...never tasted anything that good ever!! My sons favorite is the ribeye steak. Great oaky flavor. Wish we had one closer to home!"
