"What great way to spend our 20thsong anniversary! My husband has never been there, and he's very hard to impress but you did it. He loves steak,always needs to ads salt but not last night.Enjoy ed every bit.We will definitely be back.Not soon enough! I thoroughly enjoy my meal as well.Sarah was very informative with. "This is the best food, for a price of course, that you will find in the area. Filled with local ingredients and a very solid continental menu. We go as often as our budget will allow. Make sure to get your reservation in early because they do fill up."

"Very good overall. A very electric atmosphere, wonderful food choices prepared exquisitely, and very attentive service. The pace of serving each dish was perfect. We had ordered a pot of the french press coffee which was lukewarm at best. Our waiter apologized and didn't charge us for the coffee. The noise level is quite high making it just a bit difficult to carry on a conversation, especially with an older person."

"Although I am NOT a certified Sommelier, I do enjoy a couple glasses of a fine wine with a meal and have done so for many years. The wine selection at The Tailor and the Cook is a wonderful selection of very nice wines -- often wines that most folks have not heard of before -- but quite a wine's quality is in the tasting, not a well known brand name. Although the bar has limited seating, the bartender is one of a small handful in the region who combines experience, understanding, talent and a genuine interest in both the art & science of mixology. I have eaten there several times in the past 14 or 15 months and the food (the vast majority of which is LOCAL) has always been superb quality and prepared precisely to request!"

"We enjoyed our dinner very much. The atmosphere was great. The server was outstanding. Our meals were delicious and different from what we could get anywhere else. My Arctic Char was so delicious, it was really enjoyable. The other 3 people in my party had Veal Rib Chop- outstanding, Leg of Lamb- excellent, New York Strip- cooked just the way he wanted it. We will be back again. We also had the Carrot & Sweet Potato- that was so good as was the daily vegetable."

"The food is always unique and delicious. The fact that they only use local food is such a great plus. The prices are a little high, but that is to be expected. My only complaint is that the tables are very close together, and make you feel like you're sitting right with the strangers next to you. The selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts included a couple of classics and some innovative options which showed a great deal of creativity. Service was excellent despite every table being full. We will surely come again, although at a time when it is less crowded, as parking can be a challenge. "Have dinned with Tailor and Cook several times. Food is excellent & service is absolutely outstanding. The big drawback is the noise. It is loud in there -- no other way to put it. For this reason, I would not consider it a 'romantic date' spot -- unless perhaps you grabbed a cocktail at the bar. (The bartender makes excellent cocktails and is knowledgeable about his spirits!)
The first time I dined here I was in a group of six adults -- and it was difficult for everyone to hear each other and fully partake in the conversation. Again, you have to weigh the ambiance/noise factor against the food. "We had a wonderful time at The Tailor and the Cook. Our meal was excellent. The service was great. A true find in the area. In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in the Utica area. I didn't rate the food or service outstanding not because it wasn't very, very good. But, I don't rate outstanding often. However, the overall experience was top rate."

"Enjoyed very much. Our waitress, Leslie, was amazing !!!! Bartender also excellent. This was my third visit. Didn't enjoy food as much as previously. Became very smoky near end of meal. Had friends arriving as we left, they were considering leaving as they found it very uncomfortable."

"The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was presented, prepared and cooked perfectly with all local ingredients. The lighting was comfortable and adequate. The smell of the grill enhanced the experience nicely. The tables and seating were a little to close together, and the noise level was a bit high to enjoy much romantic intimacy, but if your looking for a fine culinary experience, this is one of the finest Utica has to offer!"

"Overall, the restaurant was very good. Food selections were interesting and most of the entrees were cooked to perfection (Chicken tangine and duck confit); one person in the party felt his selection (venison) was a bit overcooked.The bread, salad, appetizer, and desserts were all excellent. Wine was also excellent, though a bit stingy, according to some in the group. Seating was tight and acoustics are a bit problematic, though you could carry on a conversation."

"This was our second visit to The Taylor and the Cook and we were just as impressed with the food and service as our first time. The wait staff even remembered us even though we are not from the area and it had been five months between our visits. The food was fantastic. The farm to table freshness was evident in salads and all the entrees we had ordered. We loved the local feel to the restaurant and their use of local ingredients."
