Hunter's is a creative endeavor born of the belief that a seasonal cuisine takes advantage of the rich flavors around us that make our neighborhood and city unique. This partnership between Chef Angelo Schifilliti, formerly Executive Chef at Landmarc Tribeca, and his one time Sous Chef Michael Nee focuses on perfecting an intimate menu in an even more intimate setting. This Brooklyn restaurant's driving force is the hunt for ingredients, tastes and ideas that transcend the ordinary dining experience.
The interior was redesigned to create a rustic and warm neighborhood vibe and return the cozy space to its brick and tin origins. Vintage woodland creature prints line the near wall opposite the bar. The steel-pipe shelving behind the bar holds slabs of Alaskan Cedar reclaimed from a New York water tower.
"We recently went to hunters with a group of 10 that included two children. Everyone loved every bite including the kids, one of which had seconds of his pasta. The service was also excellent. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and made the experience fun. If you're interested in fun entrées and appetizers this is a great place."

"The restaurant is relatively small and we had a very Noisy foursome behind us which made our dinner very unpleasant until they left. The food was well Executed and creative but the noise factor definitely reduced our dining pleasure."

"For a family whose go to food is anything Asian, this gem in Cobble Hill appealed to the hard to please palates of my husband and young kids. We all devoured and shared the kale, lamb, trout, truffle fries, desserts. Everything was delicious. Waitstaff and management were top notch. We are spreading the word to all our friends that live in the Tri-state area."

"The Mussels in garlic miso butter was the best I've ever had in a long time. A must have for the appetizer. Also the trout was excellent. So were the truffel fries."

"Food was very good and staff very friendly. Don't order the Blue Bottle Coffee, though. You'll be waiting 20 minutes for a cup that doesn't taste any better than a deli's."

"I went to Hunter's on a Saturday with a party of 8 for a birthday. My guy friend who was the birthday celebrant loved it. I was surprised to see that in the back of the restaurant there were much larger tables that could accommodate big parties. The cocktail list was comprised of drinks called Katniss Everdeen and Van Helsing. We had the chicken liver and bacon mousse to start which was very tasty. Good for a group of 4 people but they could have definitely provided more bread. BTW, this place does not give bread at the beginning of the meal. We also had the meats appetizer which was pretty standard. It came with mustard and grilled bread. For my entree I ordered the roast chicken which was excellent."

"We recommend the cheese plate and various salads. They were nicely prepared. The pork shoulder was good as were the burger and pastas we ordered. The cod was so-so as was the chicken. I believe that another fish was substituted for the cod- it did not resemble or taste like any cod I have ever seen or eaten. It was prepared well enough but I would be more comfortable knowing what fish it actually was. The chicken skin was not cooked enough- it was rubbery and should be removed and not eaten. As to desserts the fritters are good as was the cake. We dont recommend the fruit crisp. There was not sufficient topping. Finally it is bizarre that only 1 flavor of ice cream- and an odd one at that-was offered."

"Service was slow, and pretty terrible. Food was so-so. Would not return again with so many other excellent restaurants to choose from in the neighborhood."

"The foods are all very good, especially the special (fillet). Service was nice, everybody was friendly and helpful (though they missed some ordered, therefore 4 star). I would definitely go back."

"I had dinner at Hunter's on a crowded Friday night. The only reason I would return is for the food, which was very good. It's an interesting menu, worth trying again. We had the grilled kale, sweet potato agnolotti, the ravioli. The wine was also very good, and most wines on the list are reasonably priced. The noise level was loud to deafening as the evening progressed and the decor, sparse and unattractive, looks cheap. Tables for two are too small, and everything seems to be the same color. Service was okay but not great."
