Located away from Banff"s busy streets, where the Spray River meets the 15th hole, you will find the Waldhaus Restaurant, our “House in the Forest”. "This restaurant is a short walk or shuttle ride from the hotel but worth the effort. We were seated in the smaller room with a view over the old golf course or the Banff river. This room is quieter that the large room next door. The food and service was excellent and we enjoyed the meal very much."

"This restaurant is hidden away a midst beautiful scenery. We had to hike for a few minutes to see the restaurant which is in the forrest. Quaint, lovely ambiance, wonderful service. We were there to celebrate our 15 yr anniversary. Gorgeous Bow River Falls view. A definite plus in our memories. We will definitly be back"

"My husband and I celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary at the Waldhaus on May 4th. As we left the restaurant we both agreed it was the best meal we had eaten out in a long time. We started with the Goulash Soup and beet salad. Our entrees consisted of the Jager Schnitzel and the trout. The flavors of the food were amazing - so well prepared! The wine list was wonderful and the service impeccable. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion as it was casual yet formal if that makes sense. We can't wait to return to Banff and the Waldhaus."

"We chose to celebrate my husband's 44th birthday with friends at the Waldhaus. It is a wonderful restaurant with Bavarian food and flare. Our servers, Mark and Angela, were absolutely fantastic. They were attentive, helpful, and had oustanding senses of humour. Everyone had different dishes and we all loved them. Of particular note were the Baked Onion Soup (cheesey, rich broth...just plain ol' delicious), the meat and cheese board (fresh, with a great variety), and the fondue (the Farmers, the Bison, and the Toblerone - amazingly well done). We even went to the pub the night before and had their delicious wings and pretzels. Our server in the pub, Steve, was so much fun! Great experience in both places!"

"Another great night at the Waldhaus - they never disappoint! Had the Bison short ribs with horseradish mashed potatoes... I have found my new favourite dish. Loved it! Staff - Mike, our waiter was great..... Bartender downstairs makes a killer spicy Caesar. Thanks for a fun night!"

"Went for a nice romantic dinner, hoping for really good German food. Got mediocre fair at Fairmont pricing. Was pretty disappointed. Everything else we ate or drank at the Fairmont over the weekend was excellent to amazing. This was the low point of the weekend for sure. Service was okay, if maybe a little curt. The Italian restaurant in the Fairmont is a much better choice. The food in the lounges is also quite good."
