A casual Italian tavern where people gather to enjoy antipasti with wine, a plate of pasta or Italian feast, all served with the warmth and hospitality of family. Located in Liberty Village, this rustic, casual Italian bar brings with it a philosophy of fresh ingredients and friendly staff accompanied by booming laughter and flowing wine. Bar Vespa's menu is inspired by classic Italian cuisine that showcases seasonal ingredients, new creations and every one's favourites. Featuring house made pastas, homemade gelato, traditional Neapolitan thin crust pizza and comforting, traditional meals. Our wine list focuses on hidden gems from various regions of Italy plus some new world wines. Italian brews flow from the taps as well as our Birra Sophia brewed especially for us by Mill Street Brewery and some unique Italian bottled beers.
"I'm very shocked to see all the positive reviews for Bar Vespa. Service was poor, from the server failing to inform us we were ordering a $25 bottle of BEER, having the specials read to us from a notepad (a personal pet peeve), to being delivered the wrong dish twice, to being charged for water that we didn't order. The food wasn't great either... the bread, herbs and olive oil were a nice way to start, and the Suppli, deep fried risotto balls with an arrabbiata sauce was tasty, cheesy and crispy, but the arrabbiata lacked any punch. The pasta is both of our dishes was undercooked (and weren't fresh pasta as the menu advertises) and the carbonara tasted like raw garlic while the pesto had unpleasant bitter flavours throughout. Won't return"

"Our server (I wish I got her name) was fantastic. I had the Calamari with the polenta app which was delicious. The entrée of Penne tartufo was great if you really like mushrooms. I would definitely go there again to try all the things on the menu. The vibe was young and social as most places in Liberty are. I enjoyed the romantic décor of black and red and the chandeliers were fabulous. The cost was very reasonable."

"The service was really amazing and the food outstanding! I loved the bread basket that came with amazing oils & spices. My most memorable was the mushroom pizza with truffle oil. So good!!!
Lovely spot that I will visit again!"

"Since I moved to Toronto, I've been complaining about the "straight and simple" savours of the local cuisine. However, I found that Bar Vespa have flavour, seasoning and that touch that drives you to say: Mmmmmmm, I really liked it! The restaurant is chic, spacious and trendy. Is a must go, definitely!"

"I ordered the veal marsala. Came in cold, but the chef knocked off the price for my meal and brought the two of us desserts on the house. This is why I rated them high on service."

"Desserts were brilliant. Special mention to the Pear and Lemon Semifreddo! Finding the restaurant and parking in the dim light presented a bit of a problem and made the start of the evening a little frustrating however the staff made it better by being warm and welcoming.
Seems like an appropriate place for dates and groups (saw both)."

"I loved it. It is far the best bar/restaurant I've ever been to. The atmosphere was amazing and the service - excellent! The girls are amazing and they do a great job! Also, the design of the bar itself blew me away. Loved it and will definitely go there again and again :)"
