"Our first visit to Farmhouse cafe won't be our last. We enjoyed the specials of the evening - housemade ricotta and basil tortellini with shrimp and a pork with demiglace. Both were excellent. Half off wine on Wednesdays was a great bargain. Service was a bit slow, but overall, a lovely evening."

"I have been enjoying the Farm House since they opened. They are consistently outstanding. Food is always wonderful. Service is top notch. They are always accommodating to any special requests. I have always had amazing dinners and Sunday brunches. I am lucky I live close by. It's my favorite place in San Diego. You can be equally at home here for a special occasion or just a last minute informal dinner. It does get busy on weekends, so best to reserve."

"This restaurant is amazing - everything is fresh, unique and delicious. The atmosphere is quaint, comfortable, cozy, and classy at the same time. The wine list is fabulous, the staff is friendly, helpful, professional, and attentive, and the chef is brilliant! This is my new go-to restaurant."

"As usual, wonderful escargot risotto! Everything else was good too - the carrot salad was a bit disappointing, but I will take burrata cheese any way I can get it. Service was great. Still need to go back for brunch."

"We announced we had an engagement in just over an hour and we were accommodated with attentive service. I had the fish special, corbina, crispiness with a wonderful melt in your mouth quality. My companion was able to order an off menu salad."

"Parking is tough but don't let this deter you. Also, very, very small place; if you don't mind your table touching the one next to you, this could be your find! The food was delicious - we shared the liver pate' and escarago risotto - both fabulous. Then shared the Moroccon-spiced lamb sauce over pasta - excellant. Passed on dessert - we were just too full. Will definitely return again!"

"Small spaces with noisy environments can be challenging, but the quality of every bit of the food the 3 of us enjoyed made it well worth the slow service and noise."

"Because we were a group of five, we were offered seating in a private, upstairs dining room. We can't speak to the ambiance of the main room, downstairs, but the service and setting in our private room couldn't have been much better, and the food was excellent. Each of our five diners chose a different entree and a different dessert, and everyone was completely satisfied with his/her choice."

"The food was great (escargot risotto and chicken liver mousse were amazing) and the wine list is small but good. Service was professional and courteous, attentive but not obtrusive. I love this place."

"The Farm House Cafe is consistently unique and delicious. The venue is small and rather noisy, actually quite similar to a European bistro. It's a charming place with an equally satisfying menu."

"Here's the difficulty. I've been 4 times over the last three years. Love the concept. Love the intent of the place. On the first visit the food was fantastic. Each time since I'm less and less impressed. Went with a couple of friends. Admittedly nothing was bad or inedible, though the fish was extremely over cooked. At the same time, nothing was memorable. Each dish seemed to be just a "one note" kind of dish; after the first bite or two, nothing more to taste or make me want more. If this had been my first visit I would not have returned. At this point I am unlikely to go back."

"We were careful to make advance reservations by both telephone and by internet ( we called Thursday morning for a Friday dinner reservation ). We were assured of our 7:15 pm reservation by a return call and voice mail message left that Thursday afternoon. We had friends from out of the area that met us at the Farm House at 7 pm ( we have been many times before but this was the first time for our friends ). We arrived ten minutes early and were told that our table was almost available. We waited for approximately one hour before we could be seated. Just tell us that you are booked or do not fill the table when you know you have confirmed reservations. Poor service from the outset is very hard to overcome. Food otherwise excellent."

"We had a very early reservation for Valentine's Day in order to avoid the 7:00 PM crunch. Had excellent service from the time we were greeted at the door until we left -- never felt rushed despite the full restaurant. Flavor of the meals was OUTSTANDING! I had lamb shank, she had salmon. After the first bite we just looked at each other, smiled, and quietly savored the carefully blended flavors that were swirling in our mouths. Very good wine list (not extensive, but good variety), and very reasonably priced for a nice restaurant. We won't wait two years to return -- we're adding Farm House Cafe in our budget for regular visits!"

"Loved the cozy atmosphere, service and great food. Make a reservation if you want to go on the weekend as it fills up. We will be returning to enjoy the amazing food, our table enjoyed the steak, scallops, farro risotto and the flourless chocolate cake!"

"Valentine's set menu, so options were limited, but everything was tasty and well-presented except for the desert, which was an unmemorable red velvet something-or-other. Service here is always pleasant and welcoming."

"What a great find! We celebrated my Wife's birthday and an early Valentine's day at the Farmhouse Cafe and had a wonderful time.
The ambiance and food were terrific and the service was, if anything, too good. While we didn't feel "rushed," we did get through a three course meal (and port and coffee) in well under 2 hours. With that exception, I could have believed we were in a French Bistro.
The wine list was not particularly extensive, but was very well-chosen and offers bottles at multiple price points.
The menu, as well, is brief, although 2 mains and 3 entrees were offered on special--we had 1 and it was great. Others reported the same.
Have the chicken liver pate. It's as close to Foie as you are going to get in CA."

"Great food and service. Appetizer choices are superb - particular the pate' and salmon tartar - when available of course. Service is spot on - and wine list is good and varied. We will be back..........caution though - as the restaurant is small reservations are a must."

"They called us to say that Open Table had overbooked them, and worked energetically to fit us in. We were glad to sit outdoors as the I terror room was loud.(Restaurant week AND a recent good review in The Reader.). The outdoor heaters worked great. Service could not have been better, and the food portions were generous and creative aside from we'll-prepared. TRY IT!"
