"We liked the steakhouse that was here before and there were several things on the menu that looked good. Our mistake was to go on Mother's Day. We knew they offered a fixed price menu, not that it was the ONLY menu offered. The waiter said that they didn't want to overwhelm the chef with both menus, which is nonsense - the restaurant wasn't even crowded. We decided to stay and try it anyway. The food was just fair to good - it seemed to be pre-prepared. They had run out of the desert we wanted so we ordered an alternate, but then they came back to say they had run out of that too. To top it off there was a table with a very loud party, especially one person, whom the management decided not to speak to. We will not be back here."

"Had never been to The Savoy Tavern, but wanted to try something new. I made reservations for Mother's Day - turned out to be a great find! They had a 4 course price fix, the food was great and the service was excellent. Will be returning!"

"This venue has changed names and owners a few times in the past couple of years and looks like it will make it this time. Food and service were good and certainly would return for another meal. We visited on a Saturday night and decided to have a drink at the bar after the meal since it was still relatively early. There were quite a few people at the bar (10:30 pm, Saturday night) yet they decided it was time to close and the bartenders began to clean and close down the bar (which happens to be pretty nice). Needless to say everyone who was there and very willing to stay longer and order more drinks left. The name is savoy tavern, and would expect a tavern to stay open a bit later, especially on the weekends."

"Overall we had a very nice evening at the Savoy Tavern on Saturday. Not a huge menu but the selections offered, as well as the specials, were wonderful. Very nice atmosphere and outstanding service. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and plan to go back again."

"Food was very good but it was so noisy we could not have a conversation. The first table we we were brought to was all the way in the back, RIGHT outside the kitchen. I asked for a different table and was given the one right next to the first one. Oh well,, guess Open Table users don't rate too highly there."

"Very attentive greeting by waitstaff when we first go there. Drinks and appetizer came quickly but the wait for our main course was extremely long (1 hr). The waiter apologized a couple of times and when we finally asked what is taking so long he said there was a problem with the computer. He then said our drinks were on the house and offered us free desserts. This was very nice and a great way to take care of the long delay."

"Noise level was deafening. Main dishes took over an hour to arrive and, when they did, were ice cold. They got even colder when they suddenly decided to turn up the AC right above our table. The best part of the meal was when a waitress brought a plate of fries to us 45 minutes into waiting for our food. We thought it was to apologize for the long wait. Too bad it was just because she went to the wrong table and she promptly roved them. Ugh!!"

"The restaurant is very pretty. I didn't like our table location. They squeezed a 4top in the back right up against a bar that isn't used. we didn't even have room to pull it away from the bar b/c the other side of the table was a main walkway. But I was really glad they didn't stick us on the balcony...that looked really tight. The restaurant is loud. The service was good. The meats were overcooked. My med/well steak was well well done, dry and bland. I asked for steak sauce and they brought A1..yuck. My husband's medium burger was well done. My husband loved the mussel appetizer. Very big portion and delicious. I had the onion soup which was also good. We loved the fries that came with our entree's."

"Overall, the Savoy Tavern was a very good experience for my friends and I. The food is delicious, they have a very interesting menu, a good wine list and our waiter was excellent. The only complaint was the noise level. It was a Saturday night and every table was full the entire time we were there, which is very nice for the owners/management, but it was quite difficult to carry on a conversation. I will definitely go back, but not on a Saturday night."

"As a resident of Merrick I was extremely pleased that Savoy Tavern opened in our neighborhood. I've gone to the restaurant three times and at this point not sure I'd go back. Simply speaking the menu is too limited, the first time my wife and I went the menu was more extensive (for example, ordered a panini but no longer on menu). When I asked the waiter on Saturday night he said the reason why the menu has been reduced is due to all the prep work that is necessary. My wife and I go to McQuade's in Lynbrook often and they have a very extensive menu, was hoping that Savoy would be similar but unfortunately to date it is not. On the positive side the staff has been great and the restaurant has a nice ambience."

"The food was good...The appetizer of rice balls was okay, not a fan of fried foods but tried it anyway. My husband had the veal chop special which he said was pretty good. I had a salmon special which was also pretty good. The Crème Brulee was delish. I had their dragonfruit Mojito special, not good. Next time I'll stick the classic."

"Had a very enjoyable dinner with my husband and 2 kids. While the kids had burgers (which were good) I ordered the meatloaf, which was outstanding. It came with sauteed mushrooms, spinach and a delicious gravy. My husband had the filet mignon which was perfectly cooked.
Service was outstanding! We will defnitely return."

"Love having this restaurant in the neighborhood. Food is very good and the service was truly outstanding. When it catches on, it will be tough to get a table. Two draw backs: the noise level was uncomfortably high both times we visited and it is hard to have a conversation without shouting. The second is the 4-top tables are too small. We are not big people and still felt as though we didn't have enough table for 4 diners."

"Even though I made a reservation 4 days ahead of time. Our table for 4 was squeezed into the balcony area which was clearly only large enough for 2 people. We asked to be moved and even though there were many free tables, we were told they were all reserved. Table next to us was so tight that 1 person in that party had to keep moving their chair so that our waitress could reach us. Food was ok nothing special. We ordered coffee and dessert. Dessert came 10 mins after we had already finished our coffee. We did not have to pay for it. Not Impressed, Will not go back."

"We enjoyed our experience at savoy tavern. It has the same feel as the steakhouse which preceded it in that location except the menu was much more reasonably priced. The food was quite good and there were some unique dishes which we enjoyed (roasted artichokes and chicken croquettes were yummy!). Also, the menu exclusive to the mussels was enjoyed by many at the table. We would definitely return. Our one criticism would be- we had an 8:30 reservation for 4 on a Saturday night and still waited a half an hour."

"Best Ceasar salad I've had in years. I had the monk fish which was the fish special. It was excellent and plentiful. My son had the roast chicken which he really enjoyed along with the mashed potatoes. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. We didn't have desert but they looked great as they went by our table. The menu is a somewhat limited but we enjoyed our dinner. Will definitely be back."

"I wanted to try a new place where we could relax and have a good meal and a glass of wine. We began by ordering a glass of wine at the bar. After we sat down we were not greeted for about 15 minutes. The server did not seem to know any more about the specials other than to recite them from her book. When the food came out we were disappointed. My chicken was so dry it tastes like sandpaper. My husbands burger was good but the roll it was on was horrible and the ff at our table and the next table were burnt but soggy. The room was beautiful. I hope they improve but I won't be back."

"We arrived at The Savoy about 10 minutes before our reservation and sat down about 10 minutes after our reservation. Not bad at all. However, after this it was all downhill. We ordered a Caesar Salad to share to start (as it was $12.00) We waited about 45 minutes for this salad to arrive and it was no bigger than a side portion of salad, but was very good. Then we waited 1-1/2 hour for our meal. No owners came by to apologize or offer us anything. We were about to get up and leave when the meal finally arrived. After the dinner the owner finally did come to our table and apologize and said our bill was taken care of and also handed us a $25.00 gift card. The tables on either side of us seemed to have the same issues as us."

"Good comfort food. Burgers were excellent but not if you're watching calories or cholestral (but then you wouldn't have a burger anyway). Prices are reasonable. We had an early dinner and it was comfortable. Our waiter was extremely attentive. As we were leaving it was getting very crowded and people were waiting at the door for tables. Definately make reservations."
