The Mekong River, or Khong, as it is referred to by locals, has long served as the central form of connectivity from the Tibetan Plateau down through Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It brings together the people and their varying cultures while its banks and valleys create one of the world’s most biodiverse and fertile areas. "I had just read about this place on the Delta inflight magazine.....and boy am I glad I did....it was a nice review but you need to experience first hand. One of the best Asian fusion experiences I have ever had....large bar menu, generous portions, reasonable prices and innovative food choices. My favorite was the the coconut sesame pancakes. These things were huge. Seriously, a single person can not eat them and I have been known to throw down some food. They make the batter with yeast, so it is extra fluffy, and the sesame seeds give them this awesome nutty flavor. I dream about those pancakes."

"I read about Khong in an airline magazine and decided to do some research. One look at the menu and I knew I wanted to give it a try. I've lived and traveled extensively in Asia. My experience with Asian restaurants in the US has not been very positive. They tend to cater to American tastes which tend to the bland side.. Not so Kong. While the heat is "turned down a bit" it's not absent. We tried the "Sampler" so we got to experience eight of Kong's dishes in one seating... I highly recommend doing this.. It's worth the price... Thu, our outstanding server, helped guide us through the selection process to get the best possible sample of what the restaurant has to offer.. It was truly like a trip down the Mekong river.."

"It continues to shock me that restaurants like Khong get four stars from the Herald. There wasn't one of the six items we had that we would return for. Food comes out fast and service is fine but nothing memorable or enjoyable. This is the kind of food I would order if it was a neighborhood Asian takeout place. And it was expensive...about $130 all in for 2 apps, 3 mids, 1 dessert, 1 beer and 1 wine. They also don't know the term garnish. There might have been more crispy noodles on two of our dishes than there was the main attraction underneath. I would never go back. The design is ok but the flicker candles in the back wall are a sad after thought."

"This is a very good Thai restaurant just off Lincoln Rd that actually has great tasting food. The decor is unique. The scene is busy but not loud. We had a mediocre waiter but that seemed to be just our waiter. The other waiters in the area seemed to be providing great service. Definitely a place I'd return to."

"You literally cannot go wrong with anything at Khong River House. The food is beyond excellent. The service is flawless and friendly and they have a ridiculous selection of gin (where else can you get Boodles in this town?). Oh yeah, and they have 43 different types of Negronis. The food certainly does not disappoint: the pork buns were ridiculously good with soft bun complimenting the crispy pork and the pickled goodness. The Pad Mi Korat is a must-try and cap off your meal with the Thai donuts. You will not be disappointed."

"From the moment we walked in to Khong River House we were both welcomed by the decor and the servers. Our food was amazing, different and delicious. We will return soon and spread the work that Lincoln Road has a gem. Having lived here all my life and worked on Lincoln Road through the ups and downs I am so thankful we have such diverse eating establishments all over Miami.....enjoy!"

"Not for me but others may enjoy the authentic nature of this place. The fish comes whole, eyes in all which was not expected. The drink menu was amazing. The service was pretty good and they were accommodating when I sent 2 entrees back. The first was a wide noodle and pork dish which had undercooked pork and I didn't want to take the risk. The other was a papaya salad which was ok but it was sitting on fish broth which wasn't my taste. Overall, it can be fun for the adventurous foodie. Just not for boring old me."

"Our meal certainly was brunch with a twist! This is a northern Thai restaurant and they have a very nice menu of unusual brunch choices for Saturday and Sunday late morning/afternoon. The Thai Bloody Mary was just delicious and hit the spot after a late night out at various South Beach hotspots."

"Went here to avoid the touristy Lincoln Rd. crowd. It was not touristy. Great atomsphere, friendly service. Drinks - too much Gin, not enough run or vodka cocktails. Wine list was decent. I tried the local fruit wine - big mistake. The food comes really quickly - maybe too quickly. The duck arrived within 5 mins of ordering it. Let's you know that it was fully prepared earlier that day. It wasn't crisy and juicy. It just tasted like leftovers. The yellow pineapple curry was probably the worst I've ever had. Two dishes however saved the night - the chinese broccoli and the crab fried rice. Both were obviuosly freshly prepared. I really wanted this spot to be great. Miami needs more great restos - it was only good."

"We are huge fans of the Yardbird and Swine and were excited about trying Khong for brunch. Our waiter did not know the menu and was absent most of the time. The food came out lukewarm. One of us ordered the omelet special with wild mushrooms and bacon. It was completely tasteless and in a bed of oil. And there were only two small wild mushrooms in the omelet. It came without bread and the waiter argued with us that the dish did not come with bread (as stated on the menu!) and then offered to bring bread ... and never did. We also ordered the GI Breakfast, which was ok. And we ordered the Thai-Style Simmered Pork Belly dish which was also tasteless, barely warm and not appetizing at all. We were so very disappointed."

"Whoever designed the interior of this restaurant was obviously not confident in their abilities. As architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe said, "Less is more." The restaurant is visually overstimulating. Between the rustic wine display behind the bar, the European stone wall, and the overly authentic Asian nick-knacks scattered throughout the restaurant, it's a visual mess. The restaurant is also overcrowded. With little elbow room and a volume level that booms so that one cannot hear even the server, it seems as though River Khong is trying to make every dollar possible out of their given real estate while sacrificing overall customer experience. And the food? Good, but it gets lost in everything else one is trying to process around them."

"I wa expecting fantastic food from all the positive reviews I have read, but was so disappointed in the food. The crispy minced pork ball appetizer was fantastic but it went downhill from there. The spicy green papaya salad had way too much fish sauce, the Vietnamese Crispy Prawns were very tasty but slightly mealy, the chicken noodle curry was adequate but nothing special, especially as the crispy noodles did not taste fresh and the pickled mustard greens was less than a morsel. The pork belly curry was terrible - the sauce tasted like boiled tripe and it was mostly fat with no pork. Nice ambiance, very good service. Would not go back."

"The atmosphere is rustic and warm. the tables are too close tiogether overall. Overpriced for portion size and quality, and menu doesn't have enough varied selections. would like to see more chicken or fish entree's or appetizers. The vegetable salad is awesome.

"Place was jammed at 10:15 at night but our reservation was honored right away...a big Plus! Decor was great, food was fantastic and generous portions. Will definitely go again. Crispy prawns were incredibly good."

"My experience at Khong was so exceptional that it inspired me to be a first-time contributor to this site. Not because the food was outstanding…it was good…not because the service was excellent…it was average…the room and the scene were just what we were looking for…one of the hottest and coolest places in Miami…but that is not the reason that I am writing…and certainly not worthy of the "Outstanding" grade that I gave. At the end of the meal the manager spend 10 min with me discussing our experience. They have built an incredible quality culture here. Go to Khong...they will be Outstanding."

"Unique atmosphere. The server tried too hard to establish authenticity of the food, stating that once you've eaten there you'll be ready for a visit to Thailand. The rice portions were meager, considering in particular the emphasis that the web site places on the importance of rice to the meal. In fact, all the portions were small relative to standard "authentic" Thai meals, and relative to the price. The food was decent, and some dishes can't easily be found in regular Thai restaurants. You'd have to attend the Asian Cultural festival or a food festival at the Wat in the Redlands to find some of these dishes in Miami- the Thai sausage appetizer is an example. However one link is $15 is a bit steep. I would like to try the brunch."

"This is the best Thai food I have ever had. I highly recommend the tasting menu, because unless you've been to Thailand, you will be tasting many amazing dishes you've never had before. The menu describes it as "A culinary journey down the Mekong", and they're not kidding! Flavors upon flavors, upon flavors...you get the idea! Seemless, friendly service and fabulous food and drinks: Khong is a must-go!!!"
