"Had a very nice meal here. Not spectacular but very good. (I rarely give 5 stars) Interesting wine list. Had the $44 Sangiovese from Italy. After letting it open up for about 15 minutes, It was quite good & went excellent with my PAPPARDELLE ALLA ETRUSCA & Filet.
I always Love a $3 happy hour beer too. Beer on draft should never be more than $3. All in all a great experience. Will go back"

"I have been to Stelle Bistro for lunch several times now and have always enjoyed it. The owner is super friendly and the staff is very attentive. They always bring us a little "extra" - some tiramisu or an appetizer taste, etc. Since it was my friend's birthday, the owner brought us a taste of sparkling wine. Great place!"

"We were delighted to see that Cafe delle Stella had re-opened in a new location as Stelle Bistro after it disappeared from its old location. They have apparently kept most of their 'kitchen crew' and the Pasta Rustica was as earthy and flavorful as I remember it! They have expanded their menu to include some South American dishes and we tried a couple as appetizers. Both the Empanadas and Conchitas (scallops) were excellent! Our waiter was knowledgeable and very friendly. The restaurant was fairly empty except for a few tables and a very large group - I'm hoping that's becasue we were there fairly late. We're definitely looking forward to going back!"

"Upon arrival there was no one to greet us. A waiter finally took us to a table in the very back of the resturant despite there being a lot of tables up front. I asked for a up front table; we were seated where I indicated. We were served bread & a spread & sparkling water right away. We waited at least 15 minutes before a waiter took our order. The meal was good not great. We again waited a long time for our check. The waiter did bring us a dessert to share & a glass of wine at no charge. I believe the waiter was the owner, but not sure. RE noise, this building was once a Chili's; it's open concept & very noisy. Also the bar tv was on (noone seated there) which I always hate. I go to a "nice" resturant to dine not to watch tv."

"This was my third visit. My food was pretty good previously although the service was lacking. My meal this time was rotini pasta with chicken, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms and broccoli. I received a bowl of very dry pasta with maybe a tablespoon of watery wine sauce puddled at the bottom. There were two tiny shreds of sun dried tomatoes, a nominal amount of chicken and zero mushrooms. The cheese the waiter put on top tasted like Kraft powdered Parmesan from a can. The whole thing tasted like a meal in a bag without seasoning. Our tiramisu dessert was obviously frozen - as was evident from the watery pockets throughout the dessert. Costs are obviously being cut, much to the detriment of this previously good restaurant. I won't return."

"We had early rerservatipns (6pm) so when we arrived things were just beginning to happen. Our waiter was very nice very knowledgeable of the wine list and food menu. However he did not seem focused or organized. Delivered soup to 2 people in our party and then began serving the entrees to another table. We kept thinking he would bring my Mom her salad but he never did so we finely had to ask for it. It just seemed like things were alittle off/slow the entire evening. Not sure I would go back since there are so many other choices out there."

"We had an early reservation on Mother's day and were seated immediately. Service was impeccable and the food was excellent. We enjoyed ourselves a good deal. Restaurant is well appointed and muted. Seems more like a dinner spot than lunch but we certainly liked it. The one mild negative is for the quality of the food, they could use a more extensive wine menu. None the less there are certainly some fine choices and a decent range of values.
We are anxious to try it again for dinner"

"Stella Bistro was opened by one of the owners of Della Stella. We were surprised to find many tables open on a Saturday night. I think they have to overcome the fact that they are in a building that was once Chilli's. My husband was happy to find IPA on tap which is huge for an Italian restaurant. Usually all you find is Italian beer in the bottle."

"This is the second time I have been to this restaurant and it is excellent in all respects. The food was great, the service superb and the atmosphere quiet - great for a birthday lunch for my friend, who received a complimentary serving of tiramisu. There were not many customers when I was here - hope they can make it because it is such a good restaurant with reasonable prices."

"When Cafe Della Stella closed, we missed having a nice comfortable neighborhood place to grab some good pasta. Now that they've reopened as Stella, we can pop in for a nice dinner with the kids again. When we came in on a Sunday evening, service was good and they also brought us a complimentary small tiramisu to share. It's great to have them back."

"The food was outstanding. The fried calamari was crispy and not chewy. My wife's melanzane was perfection and my osso buso was outstanding: plentiful and delicious. Our server was an excellent salesperson and could have given hospitality lessons to the owner who was present but who chose not to even say hello. We were first-time visitors as we indicated on our Open Table reservation and the restaurant was very unbusy with only about three other tables in use. Yet, the owner passed by us multiple times and could not be bothered to check on our satisfaction or thank us for coming in. The best we got out of him was his shouted "thank you" from the back corner of the bar where he was chatting up others. He could and should have done better."

"The veal and the melanzane at Stelle Bistro was definitely worth returning for, but the loud music and the inattentive waiter detracted from the experience. I may return for the food, but I would hesitate to recommend it to friends."

"We have dined at Della Stella in SF and enjoyed the experience. We tried Stelle Bistro for the first time and also enjoyed the experience. The ambiance is comfortable and close to the Lesher theater, so it is great for pre/post theater dining. Food was well prepared and tasty. The service was excellent. Prices are reasonable. They feature a Happy Hour drinks and menu at there spacious bar. Definitely will return."

"Appetizers were great. And Dessert was very taste.... but wish we had skipped the entree. Wasn't terrible, just wasn't good. Service was not very good. We had to remind them to bring the brochetta and they brought the dinner out before they brought the salad. I'd call it European style, but they actually just forgot to bring the salads so we had to remind them of that. The place is noisy due to the stone floors, glass walls and there isn't anything to absorb the noise! I'd go back for appetizers and a drink at the bar, but that's about it!"

"Bread and tomato spread was delicious. Bruschetta was delicious as well. Minestrone was kind of bland but I did enjoy the fresh veggies in it. I added salt and it was fine. Dinner portion was on the small side and tasted ok, not great but not bad (chicken saltimbocca). The zabaglione with fresh cream and berries was beyond delicious. I would come back just for that! Atmosphere was a bit odd. If I owned the restaurant I would change the interior to make it less like Chili's. Service was excellent."

"There is no excuse for the miserable service we had at this restaurant. The food was good, the space/ambience was fine. The service, however, was awful. The staffing is mystifing. There were 3 or 4 lovely young ladies hanging out/wandering around with seemingly nothing to do, while only 2 wait persons and 1 bus person were visible for the part of the restaurant we were in. We had to send the bus person to get our wait person whenever we needed anything."

"We attended for restaurant week and immediately were sat for our reservation. The hostess was quiet but friendly and returned a smile when she greeted us. We chose from the Pre-fixe menu, which had a nice selection. After we ordered we received salads and our entrees but we had to ask for the Bruchetta listed on the menu. We found the food to be good but nothing too spectacular. In fact, the chicken entree was pretty dry. I found the servers and staff kept trying to clear plates without waiting for everyone at the table to finish their course. At the end of the meal we felt rushed out."

"We enjoyed the Saltimbocca and the Papperdelle & Sausage. Both fit the quality of Cafe Delle Stella in both Walnut Creek and San Francisco. The pleasant surprise was the Empenada, a Peruvian dish in an Italian Restaurant. Thanks to Robert the bartender for making us a customized cocktail."

"So my wife and I try new restaurants all the time using OpenTable and like or love these restaurants we try, up until we tried Stelle Bistro. The menu looked apetizing, we started with the house salad which was a large portion and a good start. My wife then ordered a pasta special and I ordered Petrale Sole, both of which were bland, almost tasteless, we ate only a small portion of our entrees, shared tastes on both, then left. No one asked us how our food was, if they had, we would have told them it wasn't good. My first bad review on OpenTable,"

"Used to love going to Cafe Della Stelle, and was hoping for a similar experience. Unfortunately, the service seemed a bit off for our visit. Quick with the first courses, but then things slowed waaaaaaaaaay down. Couldn't tell if it was the kitchen or the server. Once I asked for status of the main courses, they arrived quickly, and the server gave us a round of free drinks to compensate. In asking my family about their meals, the overall feedback was "OK". The old space they had in Walnut Creek was more intimate and fun. Quite a bummer."

"It was a busy evening, but our table was ready when we arrived. Our waiter was busy, but didn't try to rush us at all, and he was helpful when questioned about the menu. I thought his question about wheather we had a show time was thoughtful, this is not a common question. My date had the Sole which was tasty. My Osso Buco was excellent, however, a bit more of the tasty polenta would have been nice. Noisy, no draperies or wall hangings to muffle the sound. The other couple asked for seperate checks, instead he split it. Not the same thing at all. I'm still not sure he did it correctly since we didn't get a breakdown. We are close friends, but if they wanted to buy our dinner they would have asked.
Over all, we will go back again!"

"First time there - disappointed in quality of food given pricing. My guest had Manicotti which came with two tubes on a plate with some sauce thrown on top. My chicken panini was poorly assembled with the bulk of the chicken piece on one of the two halves and the salad (caesar)that came with it was under-dressed. Would find it difficult to return. There are too many options nearby that are better for the dollar spent."

"We were excited to see the owners of Cafe del Stelle back as we loved that place. This new restaurant definitely doesn't have the same charm as the old place- it's big and not very quaint. That being said, the bubbly water and bread were the same. They changed the minestrone soup- no tomatoes or beans- is that really minestrone then? Capellini was the same and very good. Meals were a good size and came quickly. We had to wait for our check for quite a while but it was Saturday night. All in all, we weren't overly impressed but for a quick pasta dish that doesn't break the bank, I would return."

"Stelle Bistro is in a brand new location, and my friend was eager to try it. When we went for lunch last week, we went early (11:30) because my friend has to pick up her children from school. We were the only diners in the restaurant at that early time. We had the waiter's complete and full attention, and he gave us excellent service. My spinach salad was definitely nothing exciting; my friend ordered the scallops, which she said were good. The presentation on the shells was beautiful, however. My friend, who was familiar with how the space had looked previously, said that they had done a very nice job redecorating it for the new restaurant. We will have to try it again and see how some of the pasta dishes are."

"Disappointed. Not sure this place will last unless they really try to make a higher quality product. Ossobuco was dry. Risotto was delicious, but it was ruined by the chicken they added with no flavor and artichoke pieces seemed like an after thought."

"All dishes were salty. The Cioppino was so salty, it was INEDIBLE. The wait staff offered us a dessert, but did not comp the Cioppino from which 3 bites were taken (one by diner, two by other guests)... There are literally dozens of other places in Walnut Creek to spend your dining dollars. Sadly, all offer food superior to what we were served at Stelle Bisto.
We will not return and will share our experience with all our foodie friends."

"Frankly disappointing. We were reminded of Cafe Delle Stelle by certain touches, like water pitchers with fruit in them, but the menu was not as interesting. The restaurant was out of hamburger, even though it is a featured item on the menu. How can you be out of hamburger at 7pm on a Saturday night? The service was acceptable. The wine list was nothing special, but then, neither was the food. I got the sense that the restaurant was targeting a less demanding, dare I say sophisticated, audience. If our experience is consistent with that of other diners, that's what they will get. This is a risky strategy for restaurant row in downtown Walnut Creek."

"We made a reservation for dinner on a Friday night. Although we were seated quickly (it wasn't crowded), no server/busboy appeared for 15 minutes. Water and bread were finally provided. Another 10 or 15 minutes passed before our order was taken and when the food did arrive, it was bland and poorly presented. We finished eating and then waited and waited for our waitress to return. We asked for the check, which took another 15 minutes, and then were overcharged by $10 At this point, we just signed the check and left. We won't be returning."

"Our food was boring. The Caesar salad was extremely under dressed and we had to ask for more dressing on the side. I had Seafood pasta with spicy sauce...not spicy at all and the seafood was over cooked and rubbery. I ended up asking for hot pepper flakes to try and give it some flavor. No one asked if the food was okay. They were out of the first two bottles of wine we asked for and the service was spotty, but our server was friendly. But we had to finally ask someone to take away our empty cocktail glasses even after we put them all together on edge of table as a reminder. Hopefully the place is just going through growing pains having recently opened."

"I think this will be a great basic "go to" spot for Walnut Creek. The meal did not have a wow factor but it was tasty. Their bread is fresh and warm served with a wonderful tomato garlic spread. They have a lot of wines but I was not really impressed by the list. The restaurant has only recently opened and there were not a lot of people there. I happened to go there for lunch recently too. It was a great lunch spot. I think I enjoyed my sandwich more than the my dish at dinner. I would go back and perhaps focus on the pasta."

I think they forgot entee until we reminded them and we gad to gobble it to make our theater curtain. We had allowed an hour and a half for dinner. Food was ok. Prices are reasonable"

"We were quite surprised that the owners did not do any re-modeling from the former Chili's location. That sets the tone for a moderate, not special, dining experience. While the service was good, the restaurant is noisy and it could really use some re-decorating to make it more intimate and a destination location, not a spur of the moment place. The food was good, not great. We'd go back, but not out of my way to go, which is unfortunate since it's a great location in downtown. We felt the food was fine but not quite as good as it was when at Cafe dela Stelle - again maybe it's the environment feeling like we were at Chili's."
