The Anchor
The Anchor is a seafood restaurant and oyster bar in the heart of beautiful and historic Over the Rhine. Located on the corner of 14th and Race, we are right across from Washington Park and Music Hall, making us a perfect destination for both pre and post theater meals. The Anchor is open for lunch and dinner Tuesdays through Saturday. We feature both traditional and communal seating. Enjoy fresh seafood delivered daily, a rotating selection of fresh east and west coast oysters, a variety of whole fish and other seafood specialties, including a classic New England lobster roll! If you have a party larger than 10 people, please call us directly to make a reservation.

"My family and I sat outside and it was wonderful to eat and look out over the park. I had the whole fish of the day and it was AMAZING! My husband had the same thing but prepared thai style.... he loved it. My three boys tried the trout blt and the fish and chips with grilled vegetables and they ate every bite. The homemade lemonade and desserts were a perfect ending to a perfect dinner."

"We ate at the Anchor before the Opera Saturday night - it was great! Food was tasty and well-prepared and attractively presented, the service was friendly, and although the place was a little noisy we were still able to converse quite comfortably. We attend performances at Music Hall all the time, so this is a perfect place to eat beforehand."

"I want to thank the whole staff from Steven the manager, Tasha the excellent bartender and all the servers. My elderly father was with us and they made the evening very enjoyable with their help. "Great new restaurant to enjoy before a Music Hall event. Arrive early and park. Then just stroll over to Great Music. Menu is fish. I have tried several entrees and they use fresh ingredients and are very good. Great selection. Wine list is good, but not too expensive. They have some outdoor seating with a view of Washington Park and Music Hall. Wonderful experience. Will definitely go back. Of course you can go anytime...but I have gone before May Festival and then prior to Opera. I am glad to see more restaurants convenient to Music Hall."

"I was excited to try the Anchor because I had read and heard good things. Unfortunately our experience was mediocre at best. The dinners were very over-priced based on the amount of seafood served and the quality. While the seafood may be considered fresh it had more of a "fishy" flavor than it should have. And, I do enjoy good seafood and consider myself a "foodie". We left disappointed after spending almost $80.00 on a dinner for two which included only one main entree (we did have appetizers and a few drinks)."

"This is the second time I've been to the Anchor and it hasn't failed to impress yet! The staff was friendly and the food was excellent, with their daily specials being exellent unique offerings. I found this restaraunt while looking for a local seafood joint that breaks away from the typical chain seafood establishments. I'm sure I'll be back again!"

"WE stopped in for a quick bite. The cocktail and wine list were very nice. I had the caeser salad with smoked strout (very good) and the tuna sliders (excellent). My wife had the fishof the day (not as good). Her fish was overcooked and a bit dry. Overall, we liked the ambiance (casual with a bit of energy) and the location is great for people watching. We will go back."

"Our first visit to Anchor recently ... loved how convenient the location was to Music Hall. Loved the specialty cocktails, my favorite was the bourbon and ginger syrup. "My wife and I dined here on a Saturday night, securing a 7:45 reservation about 6 hours before when we wanted to eat to catch a show over on Main Street. The food was great, the service was just okay, as we had to wait for a while both times we ordered beer, our oysters took what seemed like forever to come out and then or second start was delivered at the same time as the main dish that we were sharing. However, all the food was very very good. I'd go back for sure, and hope that the kitchen got it's timing down a bit better"

"I asked if they would do anything for my boyfriend's birthday, and they automatically responded with "No, sorry, I don't think we do anything for birthdays." I was a little disappointed that we would spend $120 on a birthday dinner without even a surprise/free dessert or something. The presentation of the food was nice, but nothing overally speacial about the restaurant. Very modern and very much for people who are willing to spend $40 on a couple of oysters."

"This was our first time and it won't be our last. Can't wait 'til the weather warms up to enjoy it outside.
Great spot, great seafood right by Music Hall. Since it was our first visit, our server helped us a lot with our selections and gave us really good advice. The salads were very good but our main courses were terrific. Very fresh, simply but nicely presented. Service was quite efficient.
If you're going to Music Hall (and like seafood), The Anchor is on the northwest corner of the park and a short walk to Music Hall. We could park once, enjoy a leisurely dinner and walk to the venue. So convenient. No fussing with valets or feeling time-pressured."

"Early dinner before symphony on a Friday night. The service was very good, attentive but not overbearing. The special appetizer of pear, leek, and blue cheese was the star of the evening. This should definitely be available as often as ingredients allow. Our dinners were also well prepared and tasty enough to want to try some of the other options on a follow-up visits before the symphony.

"VERY pleasantly surprised by this place I had never heard of until a friend suggested it! Service could not have been better - and I do not say that lightly. I am always worried when I take the leap for sea bass because I LOVE sea bass, but therefore I am so picky about it and sometimes disappointed. This was like no sea bass I've ever had and was wonderful. The whole fish comes to you on a plate and your server will debone it for you right there - tasted almost like lobster! Server said it came with grilled veggies when I ordered, and apparently realized later that it was a la carte. He simply told me his mistake and brought the veggies anyway free of charge (and they were AWESOME)! And you can't go wrong with the lemon thing for dessert!"

"Service was very poor. Asked twice for water with ice. Lukewarm water, still no ice. Waitress knew very little about the menu. Everything is good, is not a description.
The "server" put my entree down in front of my empty salad plate, ignored my request for lemon, and when he removed the empty plate, put the used silver ware on the table. I put the used silver back on the salad plate and asked for clean. He never brought any silver back.
Asked for Gray Goose vodka. Waitress came back to the table, said they did not have Gray Goose. They have three "small batch" vodkas. Ordered one of them. Tasted like gasoline smells. Asked the host about the vodka choices. Said he would "pass my comment" along"

"We were not happy with the noise level. We could hardly hear each other talk. The waiter said that you can request a quieter table in another part of the restaurant. I doubt that it would be much better. There isn't much space and lots of people so I doubt that it is possible to find a quiet spot."
