"I am a frequent Stoney River customer and this was the 1st time my steak was too salty . I order the coffee marinated filet and I could barely eat it because of the salt. The crab cake appetizer was wonderful and wedge salad was awesome. The steak disappointed."

"One person in our party was late and our server was very kind and considerate. The appetizers were fantastic and the lobster bisque soup was out of this world. One person in the party had the salmon and asparagus--best choice out of all of our meals. The rest had the filets--very, very good. All cooked as we requested. The side of mushrooms--too many and will never order them again--kind of a waste. Overall, one of our new favorite places to dine."

"First time here. Service was excellent. Lobster Bisque had a good taste but could be thicker. 2 of us had prime rib but not to impressed. Not much taste. Ordered medium and to me it was medium rare. 14 oz Rib Eye was delicious. Salmon done well. Skip the al'gratin potatoes. Baked potato good. Nice wine list."

"Food was very good however I wish I had a chance to enjoy it more, the service felt rushed. I'm sure they were trying to be efficient but they cleared items and filled water glasses constantly, and continuously asked if we wanted/needed anything else to the point where we constantly getting interrupted (there were about 2 or 3 different people attending to our table throughout our dinner)."

"We went there to celebrate a BD. My dgt had been talking up this place for a while and I understand why. Food was delicious, smokey ribs to thick, tasty pork chop, to soft, flavorful chicken. Those bread rolls--taste like little doughnuts. The service was prompt, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable."

"Seems restaurant has discontinued the practice of asking the patron to cut steak to confirm appropriate preparation. Interestingly, this was the first time I have ever asked for my steak to be returned because it was clearly overcooked. Service was excellent in replacing my cut."

"We have been back to this establishment three times and all three times the food was great, the servers were attentive without hovering. I'm not usually a fan of a filet doused or topped with anything...in fact, I barely want it cooked, but their coffee-infused filet, I have to say, adds an element that doesnt get in the way of the beef. We love their lobster bisque and the huge asparagus is a favorite of ours. It's a large establishment and we like the cabin theme with roomy booths and decent wines. It's not an every-night option, but it's priced reasonably for what you get in terms of fare, service and experience. We'll be back to this place to be sure."

"Stoney River was not up to its usual standards and quite frankly, disappointing. It started with the drinks. My husband asked for his to be re-made and the waitress argued with him! The steaks were flavorful but a little dry. Two of the crème brulee's we ordered were overdone - the sugar was burnt on top and the blonde brownie sundae was under done. The brownie tasted like raw dough. In addition, we were celebrating a birthday and the waitress brought out dessert for the birthday boy prior to taking orders from the rest of us. Sadly, he ate his dessert alone before we were even able to order. Overall, not a good meal or a good experience."

"The service was very good. It's too bad the food wasn't. The bone-in rib eye was not very thick and it was tasteless. Little to no seasoning, but also there was no flavor. The pork chop while well prepared was also tasteless, except for the marinade. The broccoli had too much garlic (I didn't think anything could have too much garlic, but it did). The mashed potatoes were very good and the rolls were also. For the prices we paid, I wish we had gone to Wildfire."

"Great food. Table service was excellent. Have been to this restaurant a number of times for business meals and personal occasions. This visit was to celebrate our Birthdays (one day apart.) Thank you for the Birthday Cake!
The one negative is, even after making a reservation there was a wait of 30 minutes. Very little space for waiting and people arriving later than us were shown tables before hand. Front desk Manager not much use, but restaurant manager handled us excellently. I think since this place has gone onto Open Table it has become so popular they have not been able to calculate the scheduling right yet."

"I think the quality of food is just a touch above your rival's. A little pricey, but you don't mind paying if the food is good. Go early on the week-end's because a 7:00 p.m. dinner is probably out of the question without reservations. Service was very Good!!!"

"We've lived a mile away from this place for 5 years and finally decided to try it. We should have waited another 5. I ordered my steak medium - it was brown throughout (coffee cured filet mignon). I would have sent it back, but I didn't want to eat after my husband - his pork chop was OK. The Au Gratin potatoes should have been called Au Greasy potatoes - that's all it was, potatoes and grease. The green beans were over seasoned - I always eat all of my vegetables and I couldn't bear to eat more than a few green beans - fresh vegetables don't need so much seasoning that the flavor of the vegetable is drowned. The house salad WAS good - the honey mustard dressing was yummy. The ambiance was OK. Our first and LAST visit."

"This is a good choice of restaurant for someone who is looking for an above average steak/experience. This isn't the best choice nor is it the worst (for this area). Steaks here are very good, but not excellent. The food is above average considering the area (you're not downtown Chicago, afterall). The wine list is not extensive, nor was it designed for someone who has a discerning taste in wine (reds . However, it is passable. This is an upscale restaurant based on interior, service, and quality (per the suburban address). Again, there are better choices, but you'd have to go into the city. So, for the surrounding area (Deer Park, Long Grove, Lake Zurich and Palatine), this is one of your better choices for finer and fancier dining"

"This review is based on my second visit to Stoney River. I thought it impossible to improve on the first experience, but it seems the staff here are intent on topping themselves with every visitor no matter the excellence of the first time! Our waiter was extremely friendly and professional. When The kitchen made a mistake we were given free dessert as a "mea culpa" which we did not expect but thoroughly enjoyed! We'll definitely be back."

"I've only been there twice so far, but both experiences were great. The food was delicious. The service was very friendly. It's the perfect place for a date or just a nice dinner with good friends. I love the specials. The first time I was there they had scallops that were divine; they should offer that more. This most recent time, I had the trout which was light and very good. I'm really picky about fish, and I loved it, NO complaints! It's difficult to choose from the variety of tasty side dishes. I'll be back and have already highly recommended Stoney River to friends and family."
