"It is our favorite place to eat in downtown Houston. We always go when we are downtown for the theater. Greeting is always friendly, service is great, and I have eaten many of the items on the menu and they are all prepared well and taste wonderful"

"Went in for lunch on a weekday, and was pleased to find a delectable menu that was reasonably priced. My brother and I each got a hearty groumet panini with substantial side salads for a total of $25. Great, elegant atmosphere and all within our allotted lunch hour. We will surely come back!"

"We had reservations for Easter Brunch. I called the restaurant earlier in the week to request the menu. The menu looked good and we looked forward to trying some of the dishes. On that day we found out this menu would only be served at other locations. This was disappointing. The menu on hand was limited and the food lacked flavor. The service was very poor. We had to ask for utensils, sugar for coffee, water refills...
To say the least, we will not return and do not recommend this restaurant."

"Went to dinner before theater. Ambiance was good though the place is small and thus tables are close together. This increases the noise level. Could barely hear the lovely background music over the chatter. The service was prompt and respectful. The waiter was able to make good suggestions and was knowledgable of the menu. The food was delicious and well plated. Overall a very good experience and appropriately priced. We will definitely go back anytime we go to the theater."

"Nice little restaurant downtown. The food was good and the atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon was quite relaxing. The only negative about my visit was that the waiter was not very attentive. We found out at the end of the meal why this was so, the tip was added to the bill. We had 4 people in out party. I didn't notice that gratuity was added on the menu, but I might have missed it. I will try this restaurant again, but if I get the same service, that will be the last time."

"This was my second visit - both times before a downtown event. I do recommend reservations as there is limited seating. We arrived at 4:30 and the place wasn't packed (yet!).
Service was good and our server was highly knowledgeable about the ingredients. His drink recommendation for the Peach Bellini was perfect with our calamari . My main dish was chicken crepes - yummy butter sauce, leeks, oh my! My boyfriend had a steak dish and it was perfectly cooked.
Really no room for dessert but we ate some anyway ! Creme brûlée was nice and light and I just watched my bf down the chocolate cake!

"While I ordinarily recommend the original location of Mia Bella, this past Saturday was not one of its better evenings. First, the restaurant was absolutely slammed at 7 p.m. That is unusual in our experience. And as a result both the service and the food suffered.
Because I like the food and usual atmosphere so much here, I am willing to come back again, but I hope it will either be less crowded or they will be better prepared both in the kitchen and with more staff to handle a full house."

"Mia Bella has been one of my two favorite downtown lunchtime eateries for years, and my all-time favorite for evenings and weekends. The pasta concoctions are amazing; they have spoiled me for any other Italian pasta house. And the "crespelle di pollo" (crepe with chicken, leek, and spinach)--incomparable! They also have nice salads, especially their house salad (mixed greens with pear and walnuts) and that one with the chicken, orzo, and pine nuts (don't remember the name).
Would I recommend Mia Bella to friends? Of course! And the prices are reasonable, too."

"My girlfriends and I have been going to Mia Bella for Sunday Brunch for years! We have Ballet season tickets and this is the perfect place to eat and walk to the ballet. The brunch menu is very good and very reasonably priced. The bellinis and mimosas are excellent! Love to sit outside when the weather is nice! I highly recommend Mia Bella, its a hidden gem!"

"What should have been a very romantic evening turned into everything but on Valentine's Day. I had made reservations weeks in advance.We arrived at our reserved time and it was not busy yet.I ordered the specail pre-fix menu and my husband opted to order the filet off the regular menu. I got my food and his never came, when it finally did I was finished with my dinner, it was over cooked. They brought another one about 15 minutes later and had to eat by himself. Managment was not sympathtic even after I complained to the manager, they finally took off 12.00 of the bill. will never go back horrible customer service!"

"I had made reservations for my wife and me for Valentine's Day. I wanted a nice place but with reasonable prices. I had looked at the menu online with its posted prices and thought that this would be a good place. However, when we arrived, we were given a limited menu with escalated prices, a good 60-70% above what was posted on the internet. Furthermore, they would not serve many of the items that was on their regular menu. I asked the waiter if we could order a couple of items that we had seen on the menu that was on the internet, but they would not hear of it. I was extremely disappointed in the restaurant for raising the prices so high and not offering what they posted on the internet menu."

"This is normally one of my favorite downtown restaurants, but our experience this time was not great. The only thing that saved it was our wonderful waiter. We eat there often and normally order the same thing. This time the cook served us what looked like "slop" on a plate - my mom's plate even had huge pieces of egg shells in her eggs. Of course we complained and our waiter immediately took our plates away and had our meals cooked properly; however, they still forgot the Hollandaise sauce on both of our plates. We were running late for the theater at that point and did not have time to deal with it. My mom said she will never return. I will give them another chance."

"Mia Bella is a great dining spot for pre-theatre dining. We were seated immediately and the waitstaff were efficient and fast. The food was well prepared and the proportions were sized just right. Loved the Risotto and the Creme brulee. I would definitely recommend and go there again."

"We enjoy Mia Bella because of its proximity to the theater district and consistenly lovely cuisine and atmosphere. This visit, however, was less than stellar. Our 6 p.m. reservation was not honored because they 'gave away' our table; they would not seat us at a 4-top--even though mintues after we were finally seated others were allowed to do so. While the waiter knew we were now in a bit of time crunch (due to the table wait) to attend a performance, there seemed to be no obvious attention to speedy along the meal. The other wait service was given with its usual efficiency: water & tea refilled promptly and frequently. This unfortunate hiccup means we will approach with caution future dining at Mia Bella but will not deter us altogether."

Appetizers were of mediocre quality and even though we ordered them both at the same time, the two cold appetizers (no cooking required) were delivered 10-15 min apart.

I'll try the "chain" again, but only because my girlfriend swears it usually isn't this bad. I will make sure it is not at this location (Main St.- downtown)."

We chose this restaurant primarily based on its location (convenient to our hotel and our next destination) and the favorable reviews on Open Table.
