Cherry is located in the Dream Downtown hotel in Manhattan’s vibrant West Chelsea neighborhood.
"The tuna tartin and crispy tuna appetizers should not be missed - delish. We had a new waiter which led to a couple of snags but he was a sweetheart versus nasty so all was forgiven. They're still working out kinks but cool vibe, good management and tasty food. Will definitely return."

"I dont know if it was because was 10pm on a sinday motther's day, but the restaurant was empty! And so dark... Not a place you go to see people, more like a romantic dinner, then it is OK. The food was good though."

"Took our family out for a B-Day dinner! Very happy with every single thing we ordered and had THE BEST saki expert recommending the Saki for us! We spent some time in Japan and my husband has Japanese clients... Will definitely take them back here again or come back for a romantic night just the 2 of us! Food was excellent! Staff is super helpful and attentive! Rare find living in the city :) Absolutely LOVED the place!"

"The food wasn't commensurate with the price points and atmosphere. Their signature appetizer, the crispy almond shrimp, tasted like it could have been presented at the Cheesecake Factory for about half the price. The steak was chewy. The duck a l'orange wasn't anything special (a hunk of solidified duck meat/pate). Service was impeccable and the place is kind of cool. But it's got nothing on other places like Sakagura...."

"I've been here 2 times in the past week. nice private alcove for a group dinner (friday night) and then a 4 top this past wednesday. This is a high quality restaurant on my short list of restaurants. Foie Gras dumplings, sea bass and sliced steak are tremendous. Sushi is terrific. Think of this as a high end, asian tapas place with a beautiful scene."

"Excellent Food. Wonderful quiet setting. Good service and a beautiful dining room. Somewhat expensive ($10-$15 per 2 pieces Sushi), but perfect for a special occasion since the ambiance and food are well above the average Japanese restaurant in Manhattan. Would definitely return."

"Cherry is a beautiful resataurant with a great bar and excellant bartenders. Unfortunately the food is ordinary and not the best quality. Tuna tart, uni on cripy rice and sweet shrimp tatare were all pedestrian. The tempura combo did not have an authentic tempura batter and the oysters were fishy tasting. We decided not to order anything else since the menu had nothing really interesting on it. I think we'll stick to drinks at the bar, Nobu has nothing to worry about from this place."

"Very pleased with restaurat overall. Food was very good, well executed and nicely presented. There were quite a few things on the menu that were unavailable, which was a bummer. The restaurant was nearly empty (strange) and we had to wait a bit for rounds of drinks. Other than minor complaints, I thought the place was great. It is gorgeous place w very nice, attentive staff...was NOT expecting that with a 'hot spot' restaurant. I will def go back and already recommended it to 3 freinds."

"It was nice. The staff was perfect, attentive without being over baring, and professionally friendly in the right way. Most of food was very good (salmon carpaccio) or good (tuna on sticky rice, spicy tuna roll) and was some just OK (grilled Calamari, lobster roll). The Ringo Star specialty cocktail was excellent."

"The place was extremely noisy and way too pretentious. My reservation was at 9.30 and i got seated after 10.30. Food was ok but service was really slow and prices were exagerated. Definitely not going back and dont reccomend it."

"Prices aren't too bad as long as you stay away from the entrees. We came early (around 7:30pm) for our 9pm reservation and they sat us very quickly after we had a drink at the bar (around 8:15pm). The sushi was very good and not overly priced (unlike the entrees). Great place for a Morimoto alternative. Kinda loud though. Will definitely be back again. The black sea bass appetizer was to die for."

"When we reserved at Cherry, we thought it would be in the space formerly occupied by Matsuri, and were expecting to be in a familiar place. Cherry is just down the block to the east, and has a completely different ambiance; it's darker, less spacious, and the music is a bit loud. But the food was terrific. We had a starter of raw octopus, and then the sushi/sashimi selection. The fish was excellent, and our server was very helpful. It's not cheap, but we felt we spent well. There is no sushi bar, but if you don't feel the need to interact with the sushi chef, that's not a problem. The non-sushi part of the menu looks very interesting, and we'll order from that next time."

"Truly amazing food. But the service still has to be worked out. First time I went, service was outstanding (restaurant was pretty empty). Second time I went, restaurant was normally occupied but the service was horrible. It was so bad, most people would have stormed out... the food and drinks though are amazing enough to stay and simply tell managers to get their act together for the sake of the chefs."

"This was my first time to Cherry. The restaurant has great atmosphere, beautiful design, and really good, unique menu.
The pricing is on the upper side of my normal budget, a couple with appetizer, 2 entrees, and two glasses of wine ended up being about $150 including tip.
Definitely give it a go!"

"Perhaps one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever been to. If your look for a culinary experience that is amazing and way over the top and set in an very hip atmosphere. Dress to impress and the food will do the rest. I highly recommend this place."

"I really liked the food and the service, once I was seated at my table. I really did not like how there were SEVERAL tables available for a party of two, but the hostess still made us sit at the bar for about a half hour before seating us. When I asked, why we couldn't have a seat immediately, the lady just responded with 'your table should be ready shortly'. I am not a fan of restaurants making me sit at the bar if there's ample seating available. The food was fantastic and our waiter was very helpful. I was a little disappointed with the drink selection, but the beautiful ambiance made up for any problems."

"The restaurant is still in its soft opening with about 80% of the menu available. The meal was quite good, but the service was very attentive. Look forward to returning, when the full menu is available."
