"What a wonderful find! Simply delicious food, especially the bouillabaisse. Service impeccable and so friendly, all done with a family flair. Restaurant was full and I could easily hear my partner, so rare these days. Will be a regular,"

"Great foot, fantastic service and friendly staff. We have been there several times. You can bring your own wine and they will not charge corkage fee. You can relax and enjoy a great meal with family and/or friends. Highly recommend it. And yes, the prices are fantastic for the quality of food you get."

"One of my favorite salads here is grilled romaine with turkey bacon, blue cheese and roasted pear, but tonight they added fresh mango and gave it a summer twist. I love when I order a steak rare and it actually comes out that way! Not only was my steak done to order, but it was HUGE and flavorful with wonderful spinach and onions. Also tried the lemocello cake for dessert and somehow managed to eat a few bites after my meal simply because it was so light and airy.
They are getting very popular, so reserve a table if you want to go....I think this hidden neighborhood gem has been discovered!"

"We were happy to find this "new for us" restaurant on Open Table. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. Babette, the owner, is lovely. We had a very good dinner beginning with duck rillettes to share, creatively plated. The duck confit was very good with wonderful lentil salad and my husband enjoyed his steak. We brought a very good bottle of red wine with us. I assume that eventually they will be licensed as it is hard to make a living in a restaurant if you are not selling wine. But for now, BYOB is very nice. No valet parking, but street parking was not a problem."

"Charming. Food was excellent, even down to the presentation. Everything smelled so good. Felt like I was having an authentic home cooked meal in France. Dessert was also homemade. Just a wonderful culinary night. Ample street parking. My new favorite restaurant!"

"I tried the Bouillabaise and it invoked memories of Nice with fragrant fennel, leeks and grape tomatoes in a light seafood broth. The fish and seafood were cooked perfectly and I highly recommend this dish to anyone who wants something filling yet light.
For dessert my eyes immediately went to the Tahitian Vanilla crème brûlée which was absolutely perfect with the lightly burnt sugar topping and the creamy vanilla custard.
They source as many of their ingredients locally and organically as possible, so you can rest assured that they are not skimping on quality."

"Not only is the food superb, but the couple who own it are professionals who know how to be personable. This is truly a place for a friendly feast, and BYOB with no corkage means you can enjoy your meal with your favorite wine. I started with a charred romaine salad with crispy pancetta, blue cheese, pomegranate seeds and roasted bosc pear for $8 that could have been a meal in and of itself. Great combination of flavors and lovely presentation. I chose the Boeuf Bourguignon for $18 which came with wild mushrooms, paparadelle, pearl onions, turkey bacon and carrots that was so perfectly done, I don't think I will ever go to the trouble of making it myself again. The portion was so generous that I ended up taking half of it home.

"Charming French restaurant, reasonably priced with an excellent menu. The creative food presentation added to the overall dining experience. The friendliness of the chef owner and his wife bring a homey atmosphere to the dining room. We can't wait to bring our friends next time."

"Cozy and quaint and very welcoming. Grilled Romaine salad was delicious, boullabase was delicious, especially the sauce and the flaky fish within, excellent coffee pressed from their De Longho machine. You can bring your own wine unti they get their alcohol license."

"I(and my friends) really liked it. The food was very good and the staff very friendly and hospitable. The outdoor dining was noisy right on Robertson, a few too many sirens and they haven't quite worked out how to arrange the tables so that there is adequate room and so that they don't need to keep moving tables and chairs around in an attempt to accommodate patrons. All and all, I think it is going to end up quite nice."

"First time there. Great food, really delicious. Will return. Not great with substitutions. A bit pricey when you have to pay for a full side of roasted veggies when you don't care for the veggies that come with the entrée."

"This is the lovely little French bistro that you have been looking for. All of the "old favorite" dishes were on the menu, with a few pleasant surprises. Everything was well prepared. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. It was quiet enough to have a real conversation. The setting in cozy. This is the place you will return to on a regular basis. For a romantic date, or a dinner with friends, this is the place."

"Not overly impressed..while the hosts/ owners are delightful and most attentive..Their menu is quite limited. They need to increase the lighting , most difficult to read their menu. The gnocchi should not be called gnocchi..it doesnt taste like the gnocchi that one expects. The salmon was good.. The moules were average. Best was their home made lemonade! Service was attentive and good. I personally found the food to be just average...not what I had thought a french restaurant would be. Hopefully, they will expand their menu as well as increase the wattage of their lighting! It is a neighborhood restaurant....but I would not term it a 'gem'!"

"This was my first time at Food Affair, and I can't recommend it enough. First, the owners have transformed the space -- both the patio and interior are gorgeous, and feel open and spacious. One of the owners, Babette, greeted us upon our arrival and we immediately felt at home. Our waitress was excellent and friendly and the other owner and chef, Christian, also came to our table during the course of the evening. The menu offers a wonderful selection of French dishes, and I was thrilled to see that they use organic and/or locally purchased food. My friend and I had different fish dishes -- they were perfect. The prices are reasonable, the portions just right. I've run out of space, so I'll have to stop raving!"

"I love my neighborhood and I love when new restaurants open here... I was browsing OpenTable for a dinner spot last minute on Saturday night and came across this little gem. French classics at a reasonable price, A FOOD AFFAIR lives up to its name. My fiance and I started with the onion soup and the grilled romaine. The soup was solid and the romaine was brilliant. It was a great spin on a starter salad and as someone who doesn't always eat his veggies, I can say it was the best salad I've had in as long as I can remember. For dinner I got the Salmon and my fiance got the linguini. We both agreed that the salmon was better, mostly because it was INCREDIBLE and the linguini was just good. We recommend this place to everyone!"

"The owners both introduced themselves to my girlfriend and myself. Our waiter was genial, charming, and attentive. The atmosphere was romantic, quirky, and relaxing. The food was absolutely stunning - master chef worthy - and so affordable, especially with such high quality, creative dishes.
We had the crab cake appetizer - a yummy, moist crab cake served with a spicy aioli, tangerine, and a slaw with pomegranate seeds. (Completely unexpected flavor combo, but it was incredible and perfectly balanced.) Then we had the mussels - very fresh, very tasty, an atypical light cream sauce with tomatoes, and garlic fries on the side. So good!!!
Fyi - they don't serve alcohol, but you can bring your own bottle of wine and there's no corkage fee"

"My boyfriend and I had a lovely Valentine's Day dinner here. It was prix-fixe so I didn't get to taste the menu items I had originally wanted to try, but everything we ate was delicious. That lobster bisque was perfection! Remember - it is BYOB because they don't have a license yet. The owner came out to talk to us, and the staff was very hospitable. Cute, quaint, romantic little French place. Will definitely go again!"

"One of my new favorites. The staff could not be nicer, the food better or the price more reasonable. It is a trek for me, but I will be back for sure. The owners are hands on and made the experience lovely. They will have their wine license soon ,so BYOB with a very reasonable corking fee. I just love this place. It was charming, the food fantastic and it is a place where you discover just how warm and inviting the French can be. I had the Duck and my date had the pasta. Perfectly cooked just the way I had it in France. This is what dining is supposed to be like. A Food Affair was the nicest experience I have had at a restaurant in ages and I dine out frequently. Am I gushing? It is that good."

"The French couple owners Babette and Christian have truly poured their heart and soul into their business. My wife and I have been here twice already within 2 weeks because the food and service is that amazing. In addition to this restaurant being quiet and romantic, the service is top notch. They really make sure that every patron is taken care of like one would feel as a guest at a good friend's house because that is exactly the kind of hospitality you will receive - like you're with family. The food menu is so perfectly put together. The challenge is to not order everything on the menu that way you'll have a reason to come back...and trust me, you will! Go visit A Food Affair and experience the French love for yourself. :)"
