Superstar chef Susur Lee designed the menu and still oversees the kitchen but hands over the reins to his sons Kai & Levi Bent-Lee. In this up and coming Dundas west neighborhood the boys have chosen a laid back vibe emphasis on great food and imaginative drinks. The decor also a family affair designed by the boys mother Brenda Bent and her partner Karen Gable.

"The food was fantastic. The waiters were friendly and fast. The dishes are inventive, delicious exotic taste and visually beautiful. The noise options in the mandatory only go as high as energetic, an adjective that has a positive ring. For me the noise level was a bit much.
All in all this is a wonderful place for a celebratory meal."

"Bent is a funky casual fine dining spot. The food and service never fail to impress! Our server always recommends the right amount of food and will tell you if you've ordered too much. That's great, because it leaves more room and money for cocktails, which are amazing! Plus we got to meet Susur this time :)"

"I had the special seafood tasting for 2 at Bent and it was fantastic. We started with the lime coconut curry shrimp soup. It had a hint of spice and was the perfect starter. We also had the oyster sake shots with lemongrass, shallots and marinated salmon roe. The taste of the roe at the end of the shot was spectacular. The tuna and watermelon ceviche was amazing, as was the spicy peruvian style ceviche. My favourite part was definitely the lobster tacos, with were garnished with charred onion tomato salsa, chipotle, and avodcado in a taro taco shell. A chilled bottle of sake complimented the meal perfectly. The menu was clearly designed by Susur. The service was fantastic and the ambiance was warm and spacious for a Dundas West restaurant."

"It was an absolute pleasure! Great way for my wife and me to spend our anniversary. I'm very glad I had mentioned the occasion as, along with a complimentary dessert, they brought a plate with rich chocolate spelling out 'Happy Anniversary!' It was a great touch! Definitely a happening place!"

"The food, taste and layering of food was great. However having gone to another restaurant by the same owner I came to the conclusion that they haven't learnt anything about decor and sound barriers. The table setting and decor was a bit of a mish mash of styles. And the walls and surrounding had no material to absorb noise. I practically had to speak quite loudly so that my partner could hear. Really detracts from the ambiance. Not very suitable for a romantic date."

"My girlfriend and I went to Bent for her belated birthday dinner as it was the Toronto restaurant that she most wanted to visit. The quality of food and attention to detail was top notch as advertised. We were even pleasantly surprised with a short conversation with Susur Lee who was gracious enough to send over a little birthday treat.

"My wife and I had a delicious meal that was delivered with informative and friendly service in a beautiful, bright room. The overall experience was very impressive. The meal started with some premium Sake. The waiter explained the ins and outs of Sake and help us make a moderately priced selection, which was absolutely delicious. The highlight of the meal was the peruvian ceviche. The flavours were fresh and complex with a sharp bite and wonderful spiciness. The seafood and fish were equally fresh and prepared perfectly. A truly memorable dish. The sashimi tasting dish was equally fresh and delicious."

"The food was good, we loved the sashimi appetizer and the foie gras was excellent. The chicken dumplings were very tasty, but the short ribs were a little disappointing. The timing of all the dishes was inconsistent. We would have two items come at once with a long wait time for others. The waiter wasn't very attentive with the drink order. It wasn't overly crowded so it was hard to tell if this was a kitchen problem or server issue."

"The two of us were there for a birthday celebration and we were seated at a table beside the entrance and the hostess stand. We were seated immediately on arrival. The location there was quiet enough for us to talk without yelling, but it was a very high traffic area. Also, my back facing the glass window was uncomfortably cold the whole time. We ate seven dishes amongst the two of us, the oyster sake shooter, the lime coconut shrimp soup, the chicken liver pate, the seared tuna, the watermelon tuna ceviche, the raw filet of beef and the braised short ribs. We also ordered cocktails and a glass of wine each. The soup, both tuna dishes, and braised short ribs were outstanding. Dessert was complimentary. Fantastic front of house teamwork."

"Great food and good atmosphere but VERY, VERY, VERY loud. We couldn't hear each other or our server . . . a bit of a problem. Not sure we'll go there again unless they put in some sort of baffling to absorb the sound."

"Hilary called to confirm our dining reservation which was great. I mentioned that I was celebrating my friends birthday and that we are both working as Chef Concierge's in Toronto. Hilary noted that there was a possibility that Susur would be working. If he was then she would send him over to our table as we are both fans! Unfortunately there was no mention of my friends birthday until we were paying the bill and no Susur (that we understand). Considering that both of Susur's son's were working it would have been a nice touch to have them come by the table to introduce themselves. Especially because BENT is a new restaurant and building relationships with Concierge's should be a priority."

"Similar style to Lee so it's better to go in a group so you can try more. Dishes are unique but recognizable ingredients and beautiful presentation. They brought an amuse bouche and dessert for each person that was a nice touch. Definitely recommend it and the small size and low music made it very relaxing and easy to converse."

"Inventive fare for "foodies." Best dishes were the scallop special (albeit overpriced), tofu custard, beef tongue. Liked the pressed octopus well enough but the lentils with pomegranate beneath were even better. Server was a bit awkward but well intended. Dessert and amuse bouche were a welcome add on. Well-curated sake selection. Quirky, pretty, hipster styling (mocking but fond look back to the 70's) added to the fun. We were there on a slow Tuesday night, but I can easily imagine the place gets packed and lively on the weekend. Definitely would go back to explore the menu further and try the cocktails."

"After the raves we'd heard, the food was good, but not great. The coconut-lime soup was great, the best part of the meal. The sashimi wasn't distinguished by taste or by freshness, but by parsimony. The daikon cakes were mushy and bland. The tofu custard was also rather bland and poorly presented. In terms of service, we showed up ten minutes early for our reservation and were told we couldn't be seated because people who were twenty minutes late and not in the restaurant were ahead of us; and that there was no space at the bar. This seemed rather odd for a place that pretends to upscale service. We had to wait at a bar down the street."
