Muddy Leek is an innovative, gourmet restaurant practicing farm-to-table sourcing and dedicated to providing food for enriching the moments in life we wish to celebrate. Using exclusively organic, locally farmed produce, the kitchen at Muddy Leek remains an ever-changing, dynamic place where curiosity reigns and each item is made in house from scratch. Creating innovative seasonal menus, owners Julie and Whitney are active members in the larger community of farmers, artisans and winemakers throughout Southern California working together to sustain the integrity of food.
"The food was slightly disappointing given Jonathan Gold's review, but our server and the owner more than made up for it with the knowledge of the food, their attention and charm."

"My wife and I found Muddy Leek to be wonderful. The food was very good, as was the service. It was nice to find a non-pretentious, relatively inexpensive restaurant, with food on this level."

"I expected Muddy Leek to be all homey and artisanal in design, but no they went for the nondescript sleek white marble wine bar look! it was quiet when we arrived at 9.00pm on Friday, however the lack of customers did not speed up the service. I think the staff had decided they were done for the night even though we were not late, and other customers came in after us. Food was so so. in the ho hum current style that's everywhere in places like Akasha or Waterloo & City. Well at least it was easy to park here so that's a benefit. the high spot was the lamb curry dish which was well spiced and beautifully cooked. Mary our server, however was gracious and outshone her "too cool for school" lazy co-workers who were disinterested in customers."

"Beef tastes like liver, chicken was dry, risotto wasn't cooked, waitress wasn't knowledgeable, took over an hour to get main courses, when mains arrived we had no silverware, busses never refilled water glasses until asked...overall very horrible experience. Amateur mistakes being made...need to train staff and hire a new chef who a rurally tastes food before it leaves the kitchen. This is Gordon Ramsey 101...huge disappointment."

"You will not be disappointed at this delightful neighborhood restaurant. The food is delicious and consistent. I have eaten there a few times as it is not close to where I live. I find whatever I order is very good. The pastry chef is a miracle! His breads and deserts are consistently delicious. The service is great, they have made me a fan!"

"Rather disappointing: The staff seemed a bit disorganized. The waiter took a long time to bring our drinks - we thought he forgot about us. The menu is very overpriced considering the quality and size of the plates. All the portions were small (except the mac n cheese). The food was mediocre overall. Nothing stood out. Ei. The $30 sea bass was tiny and completely underwhelming on the bland plate of undercooked beans. The setting and location is great. But there are too many other restaurants in LA that are far superior for the same price. Muddy Leak will have to step up its game if it is to turn the corner. We were so disappointed by the overall experience we went to Akasha afterwards for wine and desert."

"Excellent food - creative and very tasty but not too pretentious. We shared flan with mushrooms, duck rillettes, rabbit, short ribs, Moroccan lamb, rhubarb and blueberry cobbler, donuts with custard and strawberry sauce. Also loved the house-cured salmon on shaved fennel that was complementary and truly enjoyed that as well. Can become my next favorite restaurant that we go to when we are in LA. (we live in Orange County.)"

"I had been to this restaurant three weeks ago and had a fabulous experience; great food and a terrific Server.Tuesday night I returned with a party of four, and it was awful. Horrible, dry, gristled food, and terrible service. A waiter who was completely fuddled, and a bus boy who was a deer in the headlights, repeatedly attempting to fill our water glasses to the spill point. Lastly, the noise level was so high conversation was nigh impossible. What a disasterous evening. And, when I pointed out to the Server that the steaks were really bad, he made no attempt to right the situation, no interest at all. Sorry, but for those prices - and it was pricey - I will not give them another chance."

"no sure if it was due to the Jonathan gold review and they weren't ready for a busy crowd, but numerous things were sold out, the service was slow and the food was poorly cooked. undercooked veggies and a tough steak. stick with the dishes that have leeks actually in the dish, those were the best we had. drinks were also tasty. overall just small portions at a high price point that weren't all that fabulous. will try the happy hour before I call it quits."

"Every dish was good, some very good. The dessert was outstanding and service was excellent. Waters were always topped off without me flagging anyone down. I'd like to go back soon to try more dishes and possibly edit my review."

"We couldn't wait to return to Muddy Leek after our first visit in December. Unfortunately, the new reality of Muddy Leek betrayed our memories. In brief, our food took forever to arrive, came in the wrong order, and, with one exception (leek, fava and egg tart), wasn't very good. Perhaps the restaurant was overwhelmed from being Jonathan Gold's pick of the week, but that's all the more reason the hostess should NOT have been surly, our server should have been on the ball, and the kitchen should have had more than person actually cooking. Kudos to the smart, stylish and helpful semolier and the lavender haired server who saw we were annoyed with the otherwise slow service and pitched in when she could. We went elsewhere for desert we'd enjoy."

"Small plates, starters and cocktails were great.. Entrees were not so great. The shortrub entree was entirely fatty and wrapped in a tasteless pastry. The seabass was overwhelmed with fennel and flavorless ontop of dried beans.
Next time, no entrees. Everything else was great."

"Wonderful addition to the neighborhood and good destination spot! The potato soup was healthy and phenomenal. The olive fritters tasty and not greasy. Steak and lamb were very homey and flavorful. Aside from the fresh ingredients there is such an interesting variety, we are sure to return and explore further."

"Muddy Leek is very good. Upscale, new american cuisine. A solid menu that changes a bit, plus a lot of seasonal specials with the freshest ingredients. Best in show menu items: short ribs, arugula salad, brocollini with sundried tomatoes and shrimp n grits, which is really a creamy luscious polenta. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food you get, but small plates are small."

"Food quality was exceptional- everything is organic and fresh. Interesting dishes with imaginative spices. The artichokes with mint and garlic knocked our socks off. Homemade sodas were to die for. All dishes were simple yet imaginative. The chocolate molten dessert was off the charts. Service staff was really helpful friendly and swift. This place is a gem."

"Very tough to find if you don't know exactly where to look, but once I found it, it was well worth the confusion. Plenty of vegetarian options; a lot of care is taken with the food and drink here. Rather dark inside; otherwise I think I could have appreciated the look as much as the taste of the food. We took a few of the server's recommendations and were very happy that we did."

"I read amazing reviews of Muddy Leek doing some DineLA research and was dying to try it. It did not disappoint. My friend and I ended up sharing one DineLA 4-course meal and adding some extra small bite items and everything was great. We had the eggs with chanterelles which was a good, unique dish. The squab tacos were truly to die for – my first time having squab and it was delicious! We also had the beet salad, cauliflower, and mushroom risotto – all were very good. We had the venison for our main course and it was unbelievably delicious! The dessert was good, but it was a panna cotta and it wasn’t set, so it wasn’t perfect, but the flavors were all there, so we licked the bowl. The food was truly spectacular."

"had read about the chicken fried bacon; so we had to try it. We were very disappointed, as were the people at the table behind us. The mushroom(?) tart was very good, the flat iron steak was ok; the pizzette was just ok. we mentioned to the hostess that we had a birthday person at our table; so at the end of dinner they brought little plates and their chocolate dessert with a candle, which was nice. But when the bill came, there was a charge for the dessert. If I am going to pay for dessert, I would like to choose which one I want, don't you think? As time went on, it got very loud; so I am glad we went early and were able to leave before any others arrived. other than that, all is well. I wish them well."
