At Railcar, we want to take you back to the classic American dining experience: Food that blends flavors from so many cultures, from all corners of the melting pot that is the United States. Food that warms your soul as it fills your stomach.
"This was our 3rd visit. Food is excellent. This last visit was Mother's Day, and due to the volume of business they were doing, the service was a little on the slow side. They have some unique dishes which we enjoy. I would strongly recommend this cafe!!!"

"I do not understand why this restaurant is named Railcar. Outside of a couple train related pictures on the wall - there is almost nothing to do with trains in this place. The food was a little better than average. I had hoped for much better atmosphere. The floor was industrial looking - this was mostly just tables in a room. I expected much more and I don't think I will go back."

"The atmosphere was great but our meals were over-cooked. My burger was charred and dry and so was my fiancé's meal. We were disappointed. Don't know that we'd go back"

"Our group had the salmon and the chicken. Food was good but not hot. Waitress admitted she had only been working one month and inexperience showed. Kept coming to our table every couple minutes to see if we were ready to order and then asking if our food was ok. When out on a Friday evening for dinner I do not feel the need to rush to order and eat."

"The food was very good, although 3 people in our party of 6 sent their prime rib and salmon back for being undercooked to their liking. I saw the salmon and it appeared perfect for my likes. Our entrees arrived before we were able to finish our salads. Made for a very crowded table of dishes and not how we like to dine. We were out with friends for an evening of fun and we felt rushed.
However, I must say the food was very good. We wish the restaurant would have not been out of their cherry ribs, the halibut and the carrot cake, but we were late diners that night and accepted the fact that some of their menu items were unavailable. The cherry ribs must be something special. Will be back to make sure I try them."

"We had an inexperienced waiter. My fish was under cooked. I think with time the restaurant will be one to recommend as I liked the environment. Right now it needs a few months to mature. April 2013"

"Food is awesome. Tender beef, potatoes are great, not too much salt in the gravy. Appetizer we had (prosciutto and artichoke) was outstanding. My only hesitation on giving them 5 stars would be the lack of green on our plates. No salad with the meal, no vegetables either. I don't know about the wines or drinks (not my specialty), but the beer list was great."

"The food was good. We did not have a good waiter(an older gentleman) and it colored my perception. He wasn't very professional; he made some "flip" comments. With the exposed cement floor, the environment wasn't very "warm"."

"Mu husband and I have worked in foodservice for over 30 years. we tend to have a critical eye when we dine out. that was my caveat. Food was wonderful. Ceaser salad: dressing is made from scratch. I had the short ribs and my husband had the cherry ribs. Huge portions, nicely presented, flavors were on point. We shared the short rib flatbread and the mussels. Ample portions&great flavor. The only change we would suggest is the presentation of the frits. Tasted great, but need to be nestled in anotther dish. Our only complaint was the timing of our food. Salads came before our apps. not a big deal. but then the courses arrived too quickly. We weren't half way through our salads when the apps arrived and the entrees right after."

"There were not a lot of people the night we went but it was a Monday and lots of road construction by the restaurant. It was our first time there and we very much enjoyed it. Our waitperson was knowledgeable and friendly and the food was excellent. We are not drinkers so I can't comment on the wine list."

"Steamrolled into the Railcar for a quick Friday meal over the lunch hour. Apparently, they recently added some new "spring" items to the menu including the Short Rib Baguette. I've never eaten a sandwich quite like it. Definitely worth the trip! Also, the soup du jour Friday is a less-creamy New England Clam Chowder that you have to taste to understand how much I wanted to just drink it."

"Overall, the food was good and the prices were reasonable. Hard to get past the waiter, however, who spoke waaaay too fast and in bursts. Also, he continually tried to convince us of how great the place was rather than letting the experience speak for itself."

"This was our first time at the restaurant, the food and service were overall very good. One of our party ordered a half rack of ribs, which appeared to be an end piece with very little meat and really tough, the chef came to our table looked at it and prepared another half rack which was very good. Other side items that accompanied the meals were also very good. A nice neighborhood restaurant that is worth trying."

"went on a Thursday night. Food was good. I had several guests in my party of 10 who had not been to the restarant before. They said they food was definitely worth a return trip. My server did not distinguish herself. Both times our group needed service we had to get up from the table and find her. Too bad on an otherwise nice evening."

Four people ordered ribs, three racks were large and meaty, one was small and burnt. Although the server brought out another section of ribs (took about 5 minutes), she was not apologetic and didn't acknowledge the tremendous difference with the one rack.
One person in our party ordered a cheeseburged cooked medium. It was burnt. The server told her she wrote it down as 'medium'. She took it back and brought another one (about 10 minutes).
The food was actually very good with the exception of the burnt ribs. Unfortunately with so many other restaurant options in Omaha, we will probably not be back."

"The food was good, the price point might be a bit high for the experience. The crab cakes were delicious, the chicken flatbread quite good and the turkey club very well executed. The salads were substantial, which is a nice change. The wine list was also good. Ambiance is lacking, but as long as you are not looking for that, it is a good experience. The prices for entrees are on par with fine dining restaurants."

"I have eaten at the Railcar twice and both times I was very impressed with the food and creative decisions the chef made while designing the menu (which appears to altered frequently). I think the service suffers slightly from the restaurant still being somewhat new. On my last visit my table never received the complementary bread and the server knocked over a full glass of ice water onto my dad's lap. On my first visit the service was generally slow, but otherwise good."

"Our first visit to the railcar as delightful. The food was straightforward but tasty, and cooked as ordered. The menu is sufficiently diverse to accommodate differences in food preference. We live sufficiently close (within two miles) that the Railcar will likely be a "go-to" restaurant for casual dining on those nights we don't want to cook.
The ambiance was moderately dark and there was no noise beyond what you would normally expect for casual dining. The staff seemed very much interested in pleasing it's patrons. They had only been open for nine weeks when we visited on a Friday evening. They were moderately busy and seemed to have things well under control. We were served promptly and waited on attentively."

"Worst dining experience I have had in quite a while. It was Valentines Day and while it was busy the place was far from full. Our server was slow and rude. Valentines Day special not explained. They kept taking food to the wrong tables. The Cherry Ribs were over done, under seasoned and the sauce burnt on. The fries were limp and had no seasoning, not even salt. The peanut coleslaw was vinegary with no peanuts. The steak medallions and sauce also lacked seasoning. The mashed potatoes tasted like nothing. No salt/pepper on the table. Asked for some and was told the have none. Bland food and poor service are a bad combo. Not recommended. Looks nothing like a rail car."

"They serve quality food that tastes great instead of piling your plate with heaping fillers. I would definitely go back again. However, as much as we thought the food was great, we were disappointed the hostess seated us in the back right by a table with 3 children even though we walked past numerous empty tables. Not a smart way to treat your customers."

"Very disappointed in the decor...curtain hanging between table for private party....concrete floors with cracks, unpainted... Beef with a sauce over made it difficult to cut the fat away ...when a sauce is serve atop, all of the meat should all be edible, this was not. Tables for two are located along the entry "ramp" and it was very congested. Very unappealing experience. The hostesses were friendly...waitress was okay....wrong salads delivered...never checked back."

"New restaurant with little competion within a mile radius. Their strong suit are their appetizers, spefically the flatbread selections. My guest has the cherry rubbed ribs. Despite the name, the ribs were spicy, not sweet. My guest was expecting something a little less dry. I had the steak medallions. Nice meal. The must item on the entire menu is the peanut coleslaw."

"I will have to go again before I would recommend it...the food was good, but nothing special - we went for lunch and I got the turkey club. I will be coming back to try a dinner entree before I pass final judgement :). The waiter was nice, BUT SO SLOW - we had come from work for lunch and we were there for 2 hrs. We did have 8 people, but it wasn't busy at all, so I'm not sure why it was so slow. The roasted artichoke needs some work - 2 people in my party tried it (one at a different time) and both complained that it was not cooked right."

"Our second trip. Another excellent experience. The service continues to impress. The seafood and its presentation sparkled this time. I had the. Marlin "London broil", with cartelized onions, tomatoes and Brussels sprouts. Yum. The others had salmon, one on her salad ( a non-menu touch they indulged for us), and the standard presentation, which was anything but. We also had a side of the cauliflower " hash"--amazingly good. This is a restaurant firing on all cylinders. Do yourself a favor and go."
