Lily Mae's is a bistro cafe in the heart of Vancouver's vibrant Gastown area. This cozy, full service restaurant has much of its decor and menu inspired by a European bistro combined with a home-style, rustic approach-ability. "found lily mae's online and thought we would give it a try for father's day brunch. What a lovely experience we had. Eggs poached perfectly , pancakes were light and fluffy, bacon was delicious as were the mango mimosa's. Our server was delightful and made us feel very welcome despite being extremely busy. We had wonderful brunch and have been recommending it to all our friends."

"My family and I fell in love with this charming bistro when we dined here for Father’s day. The food is fantastic. My Arugula Pecan Salad was refreshing, rustic and felt like it was just picked from the garden. My husband totally enjoyed his Sunny Day Benedict and my son finished his Pulled Pork Benedict with thumbs up. The ambience was outstanding. It felt like dining in Paris. The service was par excellence. The staff was so friendly and the owners were very warm and down-to-earth. We are definitely coming back!"

"Great place for a catch up with girlfriends, a romantic date or just for a great meal. You feel as though you are in someones home in the french countryside or in a great new restaurant in the meatpacking district in NYC and the food is made with love. Armand is friendly and takes pride in what he is serving his customers. If you are a foodie or want to support a great new restaurant instead of the classic chain restaurants check out Lily Mae's. I guarantee you will be delighted."

"I've only been here once so far, for breakfast, so I can't say how good the dinner or lunch menu is, but I'll definitely be back to try what they have.
The space is beautiful and elegant without being fussy. The servers are great!
I'm not much of a breakfast person, but the pancakes converted me. So light and fluffy but rich at the same time.
A very welcome addition to Gastown."

"My out of town guests and I had a lovely dinner here! The French onion soup was the best any of us had ever tasted--superb flavour!
The red snapper special was beautifully presented and delicious. Armand, the owner, joined us in response to our questions and shared the story of how he and his partner started the restaurant. They have become a welcome part of the neighbourhood, with a special outreach to locals and their doggie pets. I noticed one dog pausing in his evening walk to allow his owner time to get a treat for him before continuing. There is a sincerity and generosity of spirit here, that finds it's way into the food, which we found excellent.
I recommend Lily Mae's!"

"Our server came back several times to advise they were out of a certain item when she should've known from the beginning. She forgot to bring us waters which we had to ask for repeatedly. She forgot certain requests for our dishes even after she suggested them, such as the tomato sauce for the poutine. The food was nothing to write home about for all 6 of us at the table. It was the first time trying this place for my birthday dinner but I don't think I'll be back."

"I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service even though there were mistakes they redeemed themselves with apologies and correcting the situation, plus wine.

"Lily Mae's was virtually deserted (one couple besides our group), but in fairness it was a drizzly Wednesday night. Our server was helpful and attentive to the point of creating a new drink when the bar didn't have the liquor I'd requested. My colleagues thoroughly enjoyed their Gnocchi and Mussels (two dishes), though my Tenderloin was a bit tough. All in all a very pleasant experience."

"Average food but to wait 45 min for appies and over an hour for mains on a Sat night, a bit too much for the result of the food. The front of the house can say sorry so many times. I think the kitchen needs some help or revamping."

"This little place is an absolute gem! Very attentive and friendly service. Although this was our first visit, it was as if we were greeted by friends. We arrived on a Sunday at 11am to a quiet restaurant, but within the hour it was filled. Great people watching venue :-) The owners have put care into crafting a little piece of Paris in downtown Vancouver. Our brunch meals were delicious. Order a variety of choices and share."

"Lily Mae's is the perfect little neighbourhood gem tucked away in Gastown. The restaurant has a wonderful rustic and comfortable atmosphere. The menu is small but has a good selection of french comfort food and most importantly everything on it looks and tastes amazing! We especially loved the Guiness Chocolate cake and French Onion Soup. "Lily Mae's was great. Very friendly and personable staff; made us feel welcome in their small restaurant. The place feels like a French bistro where it is just nice to have a glass of wine and a good meal. The gnocci were outstanding. We also tried the ribeye steak and chicken, and shared all 3 dishes. This was really good, and the staff at Lily Mae's accommodated our sharing of these dishes by bringing extra plates etc. We enjoyed ourselves there."

"I read quite a bit about the story of this restaurant and of other reviews. Came for brunch on the weekend. Cute atmosphere with the hanging chandeliers and cute curtains. Very,very friendly and welcoming staff. Unfortunately, waited quite a while for our dishes to arrive (1 hour). Food was fine. Not amazing, or special- but it is brunch right? May come back to try out their dinner menu to get a better sense if it would be added to my list of regulars. Overall, ok."

"A great evening for six, four of whom were first timers who will all be back. Good food, good service in a funky, relaxed atmosphere with an un-rushed attitude to dining. The small space is beautifully finished and has a cozy ambience that is suitable for smaller groups and couples. My wife and I are locals and have already been four times with more to come. A gem."

"We (4 of us) enjoyed our first visit to Lily Mae's on an off-weekday-night. The food and service were as we had expected and as has previously been noted by others in Open Table reviews. Two observations: we all like our soup served piping hot and unfortunately it was only luke warm; the mac'n'cheese, although billed as having a kick, was decidely ordinary and lacking in originality. All other dishes were well done.

""We love this place!" Its unanimous! My friend and I both agreed this little gem needs a maximum shout out. Terrific food that warms your cockles and taste better then granmas! a quaint interior - I felt like I was in beautiful french kitchen,and koodos to Armand for getting this so right. Plus some really good glasses, ahem , bottles of wine. "We really enjoyed ourselves, the food was great, the fixed menu had a good selection of items, the rest of the menu looked good too although we all went with the fixed menu.
Since my guests were out of town it was great to be in a setting where we could easily talk and also enjoy downtown as it passed by us from our window seats.
I appreciate the owner's attention to his guests by frequenting our table to insure that we were being taken care of, and explaining the origins of some of his dishes.
The waitress, was wonderful she took extra care to insure that our wine was topped as were other drinks offered through our dining.
She seemed to enjoy what she did, and although the restaurant was full she was not totally run off her feet .

"Went to Lily Mae's for their fixed-menu Valentine's Dinner. We were very impressed with the quaint, authentic feel in this Gastown restaurant. It's quite small which adds to the ambiance. The food was excellent and the service was top-notch. Our table was right next to the front door, which meant that it got a little chilly when anyone went in or out, but overall it was a great night!"
