"Mixed feelings about Bar Sügo. Food was good - nice aps, good meatballs (but are meatballs the new cupcakes? they're just meatballs), very nice pastas (especially the gnocchi) and a solid (burrata & olive) pizza - food a good step up from, say, Tarry Lodge. But the layout of the place is a little tough - narrow, long, claustrophobic). Service picked up, but was rather standoffish and the waiter seemed more interested in saying what they couldn't do rather than what they could. And when the loudest table full of people imaginable came in, there was no escaping it - the layout made it a punishing place to be (toward the back). Maybe that isn't the restaurant's fault, but should I spend my money there again, to find out?"

"Service was fair at best. Hostess kept opening the door since she was warm. Had to ask her three times to close it as we were seated right by the door. Solid food, however our waitress was clearly not a foodie and wasn't able to help with selections."

"People packed in on top of each other but don't worry, you won't hear your neighbors conversation. The blasting 70's rock music will drown out any conversation. (LOVE the Ramones but tough music to talk over.) Guess they built the place without A/C, it was ridiculously hot all night (seems to be a constant complaint when reading reviews). Food was average at best, the truffle fries were clearly made days before and reheated. Pizza sauce tasted like it came from a can. Mozzarella en caroza tasted like a frozen cheese stick. Portions were very small for the price. Very disappointed cuz the menu looks amazing. Service was way better than the food. Too bad because the neighborhood needs a boost. This is not it."

"Second time at Bar Sugo. First time was fantastic. Second time mo so good. Very crowded, hot and noisey. Service was very slow. Waited an hour for first course to arrive. They seemed to be paying more attention to the take out orders than to the on house patrons. Will try it again but not on a Fri or Sat"

"This place just keeps getting better. Easily one of the best pizzas around, creative salads and a half-dozen different delicious meatballs, plus a solid and fairly priced wine list -- and they're now serving lunch and on Open Table! They've also lowered the decibel-level of the music so you can actually hear each other. Love it!"

"A refreshing new entrant to an emerging renaissance in downtown Norwalk. Original menu served hot off the stove from caring tentative staff, Plenty to sample and"

"Unfortunately we weren't thrilled with our overall experience. The food was not great and we were stuck at a small table towards the back of the place... very crammed. Not sure I would try again or recommend to others."

"Was looking forward to this for a while. Overall fair but will happily give them another shot. Biggest issue was portion size for price (especially Penne dish) Also, both entrees (past and pizza were way to salty). Service gets a B+, atmosphere was cool."

"We were looking for a new place to take a foodie friend for a casual post-birthday dinner, and Bar Sugo was a perfect place. The menu offers many alluring choices - from the small plates to unusual pizzas to a meatball "sampler." to home-made pastas. All were made incorporating local ingredients, notably delicious baby arugula. Everything was good, most was very good, and a couple of dishes were superlative. Our favorites were the veal meatballs, fried calamari, and homemade ravioli. We had two quibbles: the otherwise yummy gnocchi with wild mushroom sauce was too salty, and we had to ask for bread, unusual when there are so many great sauces to scoop up. The service was friendly, noise not distracting, good value."

"Food would get 5 stars but felt it was a little under-seasoned. Waited a little for reserved table but they comped us a rund sono complaints. Bar scene was fun enough regardless. Otherwise great scene and looking forward to going back."

"Only reason I didn't give Bar Sugo 5 stars is because they're still working out the kinks. I've gone 3 times, so I definitely love the place. The menu changes frequently as the chef definitely takes pride in what he offers. The pizza is great (CT Bites one is serious!), meatballs are great and the Italian tapas style apps are a must have as well.
The service is very good, but that's when they have enough staffed. Again, just a kink they are working out.
Ambiance is cool as well. Located off the beaten path from the historical SoNo area, this place is a real hidden gem.
Overall, I love this spot and would highly recommend. If you're a relaxed person not in a rush to get in/out, then this spot is for you."

"Went with high expectations since a food magazine I contribute to had highly recommended. Pizza below. Meatballs below. Bolognese beyond. It was worth the other other dissapointments, including the three dollar charge for shaking the martini which was laughable. You got to be kidding.
Bench seating uncomfortable and space cramped. Tho relatively inespensive, didn't feel the experience was great value because of small space and portions, including my 3 dollar shaken martini. Also felt staff was pushing wine."
