Le Midi Bar & Restaurant
Our restaurant specializes in genuine French dishes with a nod to the south of France. Please enjoy our casual atmosphere with a cold cocktail or glass (or two!) of wine. We offer the standards such as Onion Soup, Coq au Vin, Steak Frites and some slight variations with the likes of Boeuf Bourguignon (short ribs) and Pappardelle with braised rabbit. We also have many vegetarian and fish options. Come join us, we welcome your visit!

"This little bistro near Union Square was a nice find. The service staff was very friendly and attentive. They easily handled our party of nine for dinner and everyone enjoyed their food. Decent wine list, too, with a good range of prices."

"My friend and I had brunch there for the first time today and we enjoyed their food and service very much. I saw most of customers were family especially it was because today was mother's day :) The place was very clean, quiet and very cozy. I had french onion soup and scrambled egg with smoke salmon. Both dishes were great. Next time, I want to try their main menu, such as steak."

"I went to Midi after craving some French Onion Soup, was pleased to find a beautiful open layout restaurant and comfortable booth seating. my server was attentive and sweet, and explained the courses to me in detail. I ordered the French Onion Soup and Frites. whilst waiting for my food I was served fresh baked bread rolls and butter. Delicious!
My soup was perfect, hot and comforting on that rainy day yet robust and filling in flavour. the cheese was delicious. My frites were out of this world and presented to me in a cone shaped wire apparatus. Everything was great and I will be back again...I was too full for dessert!"

"What a great discovery! Came here with a girlfriend and we were both really impressed, especially as English Francophiles. We had scallops and mussels to start and then boeuf bourgignon - all were delicious. The lovely warm rolls are a nice touch and were very fresh. The most impressive thing about this place though is the pricing - it's really good value but doesn't feel budget. Will be coming back."

"I have celiac disease and was explicit in telling the waitress. When I ordered French Onion soup without the bread..just the cheese melted on top (which I do elsewhere all the time), she said no problem..I took three bites before I realized the bread was under the cheese. Some people don't realize how bad gluten is for people who have celiac disease. It actually caused me to have a rare stage 4 abdominal cancer. They still charged me for the soup. I will not go back..and will not recommend to gluten free people."

"Le Midi Bistro has never disappointed me. I have now eaten there several times on different nights and every time was a fabulous experience. Have eaten there a couple of times with larger groups (6-8) and everyone has always enjoyed their meals.
The food has been delightful every time and the service is prompt and engaged. Excellent wine list that is well priced. Also, the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere - not too loud, the tables are well placed, stylishly decorated. Great bar to gather before the meal.
I will definitely eat here again."

"I had flank steak and my friend had duck. We were very happy with our choices. The waitstaff was a little too attentive. It's overkill and disruptive to have three different people ask if we wanted another glass of wine. But I suppose that's better than being ignored."

"We enjoyed the small setting and attentive wait staff. The food was delicious and the portions were reasonable. At first it was very noisy due to a large birthday group seated next to us that was a bit loud. However, once they settled down so did the noise level. "The management treated us like regular customers even though it was the first time we were there. I made a mistake in ordering and they made up an entire new plate although clearly the mistake was mine. Brunch is only on Sunday but for a quiet Saturday lunch this place is great."

"The host at the front was lovely. However, our waiter was paid us little attention throughout our meal. I had to ask for black pepper. He never once asked us if we were ok or needed anything. In fact, when I asked for another glass of wine, he laughed (I had only had one previous to this). This seems silly as the restaurant lost money and he lost a bigger tip. The food was decent, though, my foie gras was a bit burnt."

"We enjoyed our recent (Tuesday evening) meal at Le MIDI. The space is pleasant (though a little "cavernous"), and the food was very good, and a good value. The service was polite but inattentive. We were never offered bread; we waited FAR too long for our dessert; and we waited almost as long for the check. I may go back, but if I do I hope the service improves."

"I went with a friend and we had a lovely meal. The food was prepared and served exactly as we requested. It was not only delicious but the presentation was also great. I think it would be a good place for a special occasion though this wasn't one. I look forward to going back. I also think sitting at the bar and drinking and/or eating would be enjoyable. "Dined at Le Midi Bistro last night with some friends and was thoroughly impressed not only with the quality and exquisite taste of the food but also the presentation and relaxed atmosphere. Having dined in many of New York’s French bistros I can honestly say that Le Midi sets itself apart, offering southern French country fare, complete with traditional French cocktails and an impressive wine selection. I started the meal with the Seared Diver Sea Scallops, whose robust flavor was accented nicely with the lemon caper butter sauce. Then moved on to the roast salmon, its distinct flavoring made for a nice mix-up to salmon’s sometimes bland flavoring. After a delicious serving of the roasted brussel sprouts I chose the Apple Tartte for dessert"
