Bongo's Cuban Cafe - Hard Rock Hotel Hollywood
Located at Seminole Paradise at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL., Bongos Cuban Café draws its inspiration from classic Cuban supper clubs. The multi-level restaurant, lounge and bar boasts a 7,000 square foot indoor restaurant, a 5,000 square foot rooftop lounge with a 360-degree unobstructive view of the entire property and 2 outdoor patios. Inside of the main 7,000 square foot restaurant, guests will experience a chic yet comfortable atmosphere, with white tables and seats which are layered with different textures; polished dark mahogany panels throughout the restaurant; the two-sided main bar (one side features a stage on top of it while the other side extends to the outside of the venue) and a 20 foot window that allows guests to see into a one-of-a-kind custom-made vertical flame rotisserie. Twin glass elevators ascend to the magnificant rooftop lounge adorned with private cabanas and plush lounge seating where guests can enjoy libations under the stars.

"The food was not good, not what I expected, the last time I was there was on Valentines day and the food was much better. I had the pork sandwich and pork was dry. Not a big selection on brunch buffet. We had to keep asking for plates for the buffet. The place was hot, we asked the server to increase the AC and she told us it was at it's lowest. I was expecting to have the same experience as when I went on Valentines. The $35 that I payed per person was not worth what we ate."

"I was very pleased with my experience at Bongos. I had 4pm reservations for Mothers Day, and arrived there about 3:50pm. I was informed that they were doing a Mothers Day brunch, and dinner wouldn't be served until 5pm. They spoke to the manager, who accomodated my group of 8 promptly at 4pm for dinner! We were a little worried we would have to wait to eat until 5pm, but they made sure that didn't happen. We had excellent service by 2 waiters. All our food came out promptly & hot! The kids enjoyed it, My Mom enjoyed it, and so did I. Nice latin music played while we ate. My Mom had the Whole Snapper, and I'm mad I didn't order that too!
Overall, it was very enjoyable, the food was awesome, and we will definitely be back for more!"

"I recently went for Mothers Day brunch and was disappointed. Compared to last year where we went to the Bongos in Miami for Mothers Day brunch, this experience was aweful. This location is too small to accommodate brunch buffet and large groups with families (kids). We were a group of 7 and they seated us at booth that could only fit 4 people. We were scoowsed into the seating when we were told they were reserved to capacity. The table next to us went empty the entire time we were there and it could've been used for us. The food came out cold and some orders were wrong. The buffet was left with disappointment compared to our experience last year. FYI Bongos Hardrock if you ever want to do another brunch use the upstairs for the buffets."

"Went here to eat after a show @ Hard Rock Live this past Friday, 5/10/2013. Friendly and accommodating host and wait staff. We were a few minutes late, but our reservation was cheerfully and quickly honored. Overall the experience was a nice change of pace; I would consider it virtually a little bit of Havana right on the mainland.
It appears the super-loud 'club' part has been moved up to the roof, making the dining area a LOT more bearable. It's still as noisy as would expect with no soft surfaces to help dampen sound levels, but it is a VAST improvement over what I recall from before."

"I went when it recently opened, and the food has improved so much, the menu as well. The only thing missing was the temperature, could have been a little cooler and---- the live band in the middle stage, I took my family thinking that it would be live, I did not expect the food to be so great, wowza, what an improvement, congrats! I would be there again, but the live band was such a plus--if it were there."

"Overall good experience, Really nice feel and very romantic ! Only negative I would have to say is how the server took it upon herself to automatically add 18% tip. We were a party of 2 and it was not disclosed that they would add tip anywhere. I felt as if I was judged because I was with my partner and I could bet $ that the 2 couple's sitting next to us because they were "straight" were not automatically added. At the end I actually would have given 20% BUT did not appreciate the automatic tip!"

"We were disappointed in Bongo's. We were looking forward to good cuban food but most of it was very bland. First we were seated next to the wait stand and an open door in a half empty dining room. We moved to a nicer table - no problem. We were not given bread like other tables. We started with the pork bites. They were tough and flavorless. Then the black bean soup which was also bland. My husband had the shrimp creole. He loves spicy food and was disappointed. I had the skirt steak which was very good - hot, tender and had a very nice seasoning."

"We went as predinner for Eric CLapton concert. We ate upstairs on the roof - a very nice place. But the service was not at all good. The waitresses were attentive BUT it took over 15 minutes for the bartender to make our sangria and when it came it had no fruit. We were brought the wrong side dishes. When the correct side (plantains) were brought they had no sauce and were unseasoned and tasted bland. We were charged extra for the black beans. On top of that an automatic 20% tip was added even though we were a party of two. It was $85 for marginal food and sangria for the two of us. We love cuban food but will not return to Bongos."

"We brought flowers for the table and they forgot to put them on. The hostess was rude to some of our guest. There was no live band just equipment and recorded music....Big disappointment!!! The famous black been dip app did have any corn chips it came with about 5 plantain chips...and when we asked for more they charged us $7 each without telling us. Make the dip smaller ..whats the point???"

"Kind of touristy, and the food wasn't very good. The soup was cold. The rice served with both entrees was cold. The yuca frita was over fried. I live in the area, and I definitely get better Cuban food around my house. As for the ambiance, i would have thought that a Cuban restaurant like Bongos would actually play more latin music (ie. salsa, merengue, etc.), but they played mostly club music in the dining room. I personally would not recommend this restaurant to any friends."

"I have heard many good things about this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try. The ambiance was very nice, but the service was poor. We were seated immediately but waited a very long time for the waiter to take our order. The restaurant was empty so I didn't understand why I waited so long for the waiter to serve us. Eventually our order was taken. Then my date started getting wet from a leak in ceiling or ac unit. We waited along time for the waiter to visit our table again, and when he did we complained about the leak coming from the ceiling/ac unit, and the waiter made a joke about it, saying that "we should have seen the place yesterday" I personally did not get the joke, and asked to be moved to another table."

"We went to a concert at the Hard Rock and used a Groupon for Bongos; the pulled pork, veggies, and plantains were awesome and the Tres Leches cake was delicious. "The food was terrible! The filet mignon was so hard to chew and it had a really strange and bad flavor, the mojito tasted like soda and the churrasco did not have any flavor at all. In addition, it was too expensive! This restaurant is for people who doesnt know how latin food taste!! Terrible, terrible food! Don't go!!!"

"The food at Bongo's was delicious, and I would highly recommend the restaurant based on this fact alone. The Tour of Cuba was a great opportunity to sample 3 different Cuban meat dishes.
If I had the opportunity to rate our server (Lacey) and hostess separately, the server would get five stars and the hostess one. We had a reservation, but waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated, even though the restaurant was less than half full when we arrived. The entire hostess staff was completely confused, and basically ignored us while we waited for what we were told would be "just a few minutes."
Gratuity was added to our bill at 18%, so make sure to look closely."

"There is too much hype and it did not really live up to it's expectations. I feel most people go because of who it is owned by and not because of the food. The food was good but nothing I have never tasted before. I had the sliders which were pretty dry, the sweet plantains side dish was good and I would definitely recommend the watermelon mojitos. I wouldn't go back for the food but perhaps sit @ the bar and enjoy a nice and fresh drink."

"Food, service, and ambience outstanding. A winning combination every time. We were seated at a wonderful table on the second level. Our guests had a pitcher of cojitos (which my wife and I will order the next time) and we had a sangria carafe. Most refreshing. Entrees ordered included shrimp crillo, shredded pork, a seafood medley, and the Tour of Cuba --- a tantalizing trio of shredded pork, beef and chicken. I had the latter with sweet plantains and brown rice. Simply fantastic! Regarding service, the hostess seated us right away. Our server was cordial, professional, attentive, and most important of all seemed most sincere in doing his very best to make our dining experience a pleasurable one. And that it was!"

"The food was terrible. We ordered Arroz con pollo which is a traditional dish made with cooking the chicken in with the rice preparation. What we got was a broiled/browned chicken quarter which was precooked and re-heated and was very dry placed on the plate with a serving of yellow rice. At $19.00 this was a rip-off. I had the Vacca Frita which was a very small portion (less than 3 oz of beef) that was dried out with three table spoons of morro rice an 5 pieces of sweet plantains. Again at $19.00 this was a bad joke. I get this dish regularly at a family Latin restaurant and get more that three times the portion size for less than $10.00.The music was so loud I could not converse with my date. Just a BAD experience."

"My experience at Bongo's for my mother's 70th birthday celebration was everyting I wanted it to be. The ambiance and service were perfect! "I was very disappointed with my recent dining experience at Bongo's Cuban cafe. The overall experience left a lot to be desired. For starters, our party of 6 was seated at a table that was hardly suitable for a party of 4. The placement around the table was a bench/booth that they expected 3 grown adults to squeeze into, 2 chairs across from the bench, and one chair at the head of the table. The person at the head couldn't put their legs under the table. Some of the food was bland and unseasoned, specifically the vegetarian platter. Two of us didn't receive everything that came with the meal and 2 out of the 3 birthday desserts offered were not available. For a fine dining restaurant, I was not impressed."

"This is a great place to celebrate everything from Birthdays, Promotions or just being alive. The food was very good and resonably priced. It also has the added surprise of the ourdoor roof bar. It really made you feel like you were in the Magic City even though you are in Broward. The only thing is that the roof bar is not that comfortable becuase in orde to sit down you have to pay for overpriced bottles of booze. Overall Bongos is a hit."
